actually, it does seem to hit the apple and a boomerang can definitely cut an apple, i have an aboriginal one that i used to use till it gave me a scar across my hand
i think it could still be a possibility tho i agree it might be staged...apple isnt that thick. sharpen the wood and the wieght and speed would slice it!

Boomerangs are a safe catching sport , not a cutting weapon. This is a staged precut apple .Toothpicks can be seen sticking up after the strike .
