it's impressive how similar and different both are, for a touch and go collector they are really close, but for the one that likes to handle their figures and transform them, its really night and day
I normally like you versus videos, but this one I love - all the points about XTBs Hoist are very much pertinent. I myself am staying with him cause I like those strange proportions and several choices, and some negatives don't bother me, but I love how thorough you were with every detail.
As someone who has the XTB and still enjoys it the FT is the better of the two for sure, but not enough for me to double dip and get the FT as well. Same goes for Trailbreaker. I do think though that the alt form of the XTB is better, sans the windows. The XTB looks actually like the Toyota that the design and G1 toy was based on. Not that I ever have it in alt form.
The "these i don't even know what they're for" XTB accessories are adapters for Hoist's wrist peg so he can use MP Ratchet's welder thingy. Also, the XTB's Hoist is supposed to have the flap at the back of the feet flipped up to cover the inner workings. It doesn't fix the knee/ass problem, but it's there.
I have the XTB and I think it looks MUCH better than the FansToys. The truck mode is so good, you’d never know it could transform into a cartoon accurate robot unless you were a TF fan. But I’m not here to defend my purchase. If transforming your figures back and forth is a necessary part of this hobby for you, then stay the hell away from the XTB. It’s frustrating as hell! I haven’t figured out how to transform him into truck mode without removing his hand. The next time I transform him will be the last!
Based on the original color pictures FT showed I believe the extra head with attached extra piece was FT's intended design, and the one that comes installed with it separate was an afterthought they added due to feedback which would also explain why it doesn't have the articulation fully in place that way.
I never liked the proportions on the XTB so I have never had it. I went with the Ocular Max version, which I still enjoy quite a bit. I also have the FTs on order, which I think looks the best overall. I don't mind having more then one version of a character, so will keep both. The white leg version can go with my official MP 44, and the chrome version can go with my KO MP 44 with silver legs. Thanks for the comparison Sony. I always enjoy them.
after having just gotten hitch today, yeah hes the better one of me, had so much trouble with Paean when I got him last year specially with the backpack and legs has several stress cracks on the hinge joint on his left leg because the area was improperly molded..let alone all the flaking paint.
FT's proportions are certainly more accurate, that's one thing The other thing being the chrome and silver paint, MP44 has chrome on it and everyone seems to be okay with it
Your comparison is great, as always. One thing I like about XTB is I usually find their alt modes to look fantastic. They seem to prioritize making the vehicle look like a real life car, truck, etc. However, you’re totally right that the clear windows spoil that illusion in this case. Despite that, if my decision was for alt mode alone I’d probably go with XTB. Regardless I’m picking Fans Toys as always, since they have the better overall figure once again. Thanks for the great comparison!
Having seen your sales post for the XTB I already knew the outcome before watching, but the comparison was still fair and worth watching. As I do not yet have a Hoist in my collection the decision was pretty easy after watching this. I am also going with the FT option. Thanks for all the great content.
Fanstoys is just built different, LITERALLY. This is Fanstoys on easy mode BTW. They can do so much better and I expect them too with their newer designs ie. Mirage, jazz, cliff jumper, etc
Yeah Fans toys looks better than I thought it would. At the moment there is only one new xtb hoist on eBay though, so I guess nobody’s switching out. I’m good with xtb hoist, just wish I could have got the original release with the gray on the arms and legs.
Dadburnit, from the front, Paean looks SO GREAT from the front and the sides, but the silver on Hitch's legs looks sweet, and the back of Paean is just like you said, like they just forgot to keep designing the toy. I wish I could just combine the two, but oh well. Who knows, maybe I'll buy the FansToys one and then a few years later buy the X-Transbots one.
I'm watching this again just for entertainment, and it's funny how I liked the silver on FT because I specifically found a guy who was selling his XTB v1 Hoist, with the silver legs. I love it. Looking at both of these again, tho, I'd have been happy with either one, I think. FT Hoist looks great, and XTB Hoist is great. EDIT: 5:43 you forgot to flip up the flat panels on the heels, thus closing off some of the feet interiors.
Something I just realize is that the color white is the default visual replacement for the silver (or metallic finish) in cartoons, and that's why it seems to be so off when it translates into tridimensional figures!
Xtransbots looks truer to the figure for me and more like a real truck transformed imho. I really like how clean and smooth ft got it though. Another great review. Btw. The black paint rubs off in your hands so be super careful. I ended up getting reprolables to cover it up. It looked more and more terrible every time I transformed it.
I own them both, FT Hitch and XTBPaean... but I have the original Paean with the silver legs and somewhat different utility stripes. I love the FT version for its build, design, colors, and lack of floppiness... but I agree that it's a little less cartoon-accurate. But the XTB version is indeed a frustrating pain in the ass to transform. That said, Paean is undeniably more cartoon-accurate than FT Hitch. Even so, Hitch looks so stellar in bot-mode, that I just transformed Paean to utility truck mode... and that is how he shall stay for the duration.
FT looks a thousand times better than XTB but $190 for a hoist ??? Since when did MP cars become this high? With inflation nowadays this thing should be no more than $160 max. FT is trippin real hard
FansToys should have won that Wrist articulation, the wrists have a forward and backward pivot in addition to rotation and X-Transbots doesn't. Also FansToys has about 100° on that elbow rotation compared to about 85° for X-Transbots. I know reviewers want to get these toys faster but that $190 is really a premium delivery cost. It is $150 on Show Z but we have to wait longer. Great comparison. I love the silver so much better than the white. I have zero issue with it and I like it better.
Thanks man, I switched my articulation scoring to number of points instead of range of motion, FansToys did win the hand articulation due to the fingers and wrist bend, I also prefer the silver like you
Quality and toon issues aside I think overall Paean looks a lot better in truck mode including the tow gear. It just has a nicer body style. Aside from that Hitch is the better one in my book.
With xtransbots having all them accessories, and I still have not seen nobody display him with them so they should just sell the accessories separately and focus on making their figures better quality in my opinion 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
I got pissed of when I was transforming XTB Aegis last night. So freakin frustrating. I nearly through the toy against the wall. I immediately purchased FT Outrider. Think I’ll do the same here. Sell Paean & purchase Hitch.
For alt mode you shouldn't mention about the paint wear and transformation as reasons to choose ft over xtb. You already have those points to ft so you can't double dip. Also the fact xtb can fit a car while ft can't, plus the fact hoists head can be viewable as another viewer commented, the alt mode should be a tie. Also for articulation, shoulders and hips should go to xtb. Xtb gets the full run on shoulder where ft can't and for the hips, the leg on xtb can go all the way back where ft barely moves. Your reviews are good but on these comparison videos you have to be more neutral. This video, I sense bias to FT. I would choose FT over xtb for sure but I think you need to be careful about your bias in these videos.
I got my silver XTB Hoist for $75 lightly used. Never was a big fan of the character, so I will never bother playing with it much. But it scratches the subtle itch just fine. $200 for FT is insane.
Can’t really compare a USED 2016 release. But if you go to showz right now. Toon Xtb is $130 and FT $150. Having owned both FT is worth a lot more than $20
I like how prolific XTB is with their releases but they lose me every time with their build quality. It really is a shame cause they do have some good looking figures. If FaaaaaannnnnssssTooooyyyyssss didn't up their transformation game things would also be a bit tighter.
FansToys is a better toy, and X-Transbots representation or more toon accurate. Aesthetics wise relative to G1 X-Transbots is better, consistency with other Fanstoys of course FT-26 is in line. I don't transform my transformers toys, so i would go with the X-Transbots one.
Dude, I agree that the translucent glass isn’t great, but calling out that you can see the head inside the window, but not calling out that on FT the head is just sitting outside of the cab in the back of the truck? That looks terrible on the FT. Seems very amateurish design on FT’s part. You can put a sticker on the XTB window, there is zero hiding that head on FT.
Which by the way is not a gripe on you. I am just shocked that that FT was honestly that lazy with their design. I expect so much more. Especially for how expensive they are. Love your reviews and channel. Feel bad that the original post seemed to be downing you.
Thanks man, I do realize the head is sticking out but if you use the one piece head it's barely noticeable because the scanner is on top,.just looks like car parts
I always see your videos, you are always right in what you say, but after seeing this video, I think your fanaticism for fanstoys toys did not let you be neutral, I do not understand how you can say that this FT mold is better than XTB, that you have had problems transforming the figure, it does not mean that we all have that problem, you are a youtuber and for that reason you must transform the figures many times, causing it to have greater wear and paint can come off, also the alternate mode of FT is horrible and the XTB is a real car model and it beats it from any angle you look at it, I recommend you to be neutral when reviewing DT figures, because we know they are of good quality, but not all of their figures are good, some of them are a disaster.
@@tron9137 That's your opinion and I don't care, I have all the fanstoys and some of them are crap, for me in this mold I lost fanstoys and what you say doesn't matter to me.

Thanks
