You absolute legend, I have been looking for better solutions to this exact problem for along time, looking at different mounts or how to attach the car play unit to the dash without the need of adhesive, this is almost the perfect solution, my car play is slightly different but with this idea it fits in nearly the same way, plus easy to talk off if you need to, really appreciate this video just wish I had seen it earlier, thanks for making it really has been a help.
This looks stunning! I’m wondering what speakers are used. Because I saw some CarPlay variants that has their own speakers and I would love to use the ones that are in my car and not to listen to the music that’s coming out of that little device 🙈 what’s your experience on that? And sorry if this question sounds a bit crazy.
All displays of this type have a means to connect to at least FM and Aux input to play over your car speakers system. Some have Bluetooth so if you’re car has this you have a wireless option that’s better than the FM option
I kept saying e-Up but I actually was using a regular ICE version of the car. I don’t know what Mk this one was. It was 2022/3 modal, so whatever that is. The stereo looks the same on both versions.
It’s mainly the mount, so if the 2015 has the same dash mount it should work the same, also if you have a Bluetooth stereo you can have less wires running to the display.
You can do that but that wasn’t the point of this video. It doesn’t just mirror the phone it runs CarPlay or Android auto, dedicated car experiences that’s safer to use for the driver, some even have dash cams. So it’s not a like for like experience as just slapping the phone up there. Thanks for the budget friendly advice though 👍🏻

Can it play TH-cam videos & music from the iPhone while it's connected?
Some displays mirror from the phone and TH-cam apps. Some just do CarPlay and androids auto.
Does it work on the E-up ?
I’m sure it will if it has the same mount system and BT audio input (or you have FM/Aux to fall back on)
The up mk2 with the new radio - do that not have bluetooth or the old models? Or is it only the E-up?

Can you hide the cable in the tunnel? Like in the old models?
I guess you could yes.
@@CarPlayLife ok, you didnt try that?
It was a rental. I doubt they would like me pulling the dash apart 😂
why you didn't use the usb plug available behind the phone support?
It was a day rental. I didn’t know it had one! Took me long enough to work out how to expand the phone cradle 😂
Does anyone now if it work on up 2015?
It’s mainly the mount, so if the 2015 has the same dash mount it should work the same, also if you have a Bluetooth stereo you can have less wires running to the display.
Or just stick your phone in that cradle and save money. Its just a screen that mirrors your phone its pointless unless you like vanity.
