When i saw you use the jointer, well not that much at once and make a pushblock for it, but more important align the front table with the spining blade so you don't get so much snipe because at the last end you push it down due to the hight difference. and look for a diiferent saw blad that match your speed. little rough but nice restauration. love the green. to get less snipe through the planer just make an extension table you can slide in sou your outfeed table is longer, and that takes a lot of snipe away. whatch your fingers and enjoy the machine.
Very, Very good job. Just is there a reason that you painted the bed surfaces? - Those normally would be left bare. Also I think I would have been tempted to take a link out of that chain. Really good job, though. YOu got to have a WAY better memory then mine. I'd have never gotten it back together BTW Speaking of painting. You are one of the only persons on TH-cam I have seen that actually knows how to spray paint. Once more. Good job. - That planer works better then our like new Rockwell.
Great job!!! The only things I think you'll regret later is not taking a link out of the chain and painting the planer surface since it will get sticky over time. But no complaints here, I especially like the green!
Hello, quite precise renovation of this multifunctional woodworking device (planer, thicknesser and saw). I noticed a simplified chain tension in the form of a bent screw. I think you should get an appropriate brass slide, and preferably a roller with a spring tensioner. You put a lot of work into this renovation. Congratulations and best regards 😀.
Thank you very much. You are definitely a good worker too. Thank you for all your contributions. We will try to improve products as well as work safety
It's to bad you don't have a sand blaster to remove all the old paint and rust In places you can't get hand tools into to clean.Never paint the work surfaces of any wood working machine. Just use a wire wheel to remove the rust and put a light coat of oil on the surface and wipe off any oil. The oil is only to keep the surface from rusting again.
Thank you for your feedback so we can better improve future products. We are also planning to buy more sand blasting machines to serve our work. We wish you and your loved ones good health!
I got one of those pressure washer sand blast attachments. - If you got a pressure washer you might try one. - Ours works pretty well and they do not cost much. Just is does use a ton of sand. @@restorationsskills4967
The worst part of this "restoration" is where take a iron casted part to cover wit clay and polish.... Stopped video, took a walk. That is not a restoration.
Wrong for 2-reasons. 1- If it was a problem then why did Hitachi build it with grease fittings. = 2-Yje sawdust around the slides actually acts like a seal, and keeps the grease in, ,,,,, BTW, Check Kieth Ruker's restoration of the big planer mill at the museum. They take off a good 1/4" (7mm) at a time. - If the machine will handle it,,,, let it handle it.
One thing I've noticed the first thing he does is to spray all the rusted nuts an bolts with a pentrating spray and let's it sit for awhile to let the spray work to loosen the rust. Other restoration channals I've watched just use a bigger hammer or a cutting torch to remove the stuck nuts an bolts.
Work done a lot, even too quickly! you did not check the bearings if they were worn, where you welded you left the weld very poorly finished and during painting you also repainted all the milled parts which served as a reference for a correct coupling of the parts, in addition to having also painted all the screws with lock nut which served as an adjuster furthermore, you used so much grease that after the first two hours of work it is already full of sawdust and shavings that block all the mechanisms. You have created a beautiful display object not a functional machine
