- The Suzuki Celerio is a five-door city car that majors on value for money. It's not the prettiest car out there, nor the most desirable, but it's got an impressive amount of space inside, has a decent list of standard equipment and a surprisingly spacious boot.

I had this car as a replacement when mine was in the shop. OK, it has a crappy exterior and interior, but the ride was actually suprisingly fun w/ a very nippy handling, for this type of car.
Or you can get a 2007 Mercedes S-class.

it's an AGS(auto gear select) gearbox not ASG.
I don't know much about cars in the UK and I'm just an ignorant Californian, but how can a car without air conditioning have air conditioning vents? Can somebody explain this for me.

Without having driven neither, I'd hazard a guess that the VW up! is significantly better on the motorway. (Yes I know that's much more than 6,995)
I’ve travelled from Devon to Surrey and back in one of these Celario’s and they are very slow and small inside. What do you expect for ubder 7k for a brand new car though? They are very reliable motors thiugh
@@benrogersdevon slow? The speed limit is 70mph mate and it can maintain 90 no problem, I sit at 60 with the truckers for max mpg though. Too small? It's the biggest of its class internally in terms of head/leg room, I had my 6.5ft mate in the back with head room to spare! Get real.

Took me a while to get used to him, but I do think he has improved a lot since his Ford Mustang review.

I was looking if someone already commented this. Same with the airbags, maybe head airbags aren't standard, but a new car without front or side airbags? Good luck finding that

This is defenitely a budget car done right. Most other budget cars are hideous in every way possible and lack all features besides ABS.
Got one few months ago. Total painless to own. Genuine mpg, park anywhere! 7.9/10 imo.
Suzuki is good at making people's cars like vw did in the past. Cheap, reliable and fun without you having to pinch pennies to own one .
Very happy with this car, seven years after purchasing one.

I live in the UK. Judging by the numbers of Celerios you see on the roads here, they really aren't very popular. Maybe it's the slightly bonkers name or the wonky looks. However they are actually very good cars! First they are very cheap. I've bought two now and nearly new, low mileage cars can be picked up with huge discounts vs list. Second, they give superb fuel economy. My wife's AGS is averaging 71.9 mpg! (and this is with the standard engine, not the DualJet). Third, compared to similar cars, they are very spacious which is a boon if you are a new mum like my daughter-in-law. I like small cars. I've driven a Toyota Aygo, a Daihatsu Sirion and a Kia Picanto. The Celerio is by far and away the best (and cheapest!) of the bunch.
+Eryk Pyts I just drove for 532 miles on 32 litres of standard UK unleaded. That works out at 74.8 mpg so the onboard trip computer (which now says I've averaged 72.9 mpg since new) looks spot on to me. Contrast that to my Kia Picanto 1.0l which since new has averaged about 58 mpg on the trip computer and about 55 mpg based on tank/odometer readings and you get an idea as to just how good the Celerio is!

Zero Sum Game Yes but every single car comes with ABS and Airbags these days, in fact for these sort of cars I'm fairly certain you have to fit those by law here.

ok maybe presentation of features was not the best, but price still is excellent. Hyundai i10 comes few grand more expensive with same amount of "features", same for Nissan.
ABS and stability control are legal requirements so NO SURPRISE AT ALL ON ANY CAR

Rear engine and rear wheel drive : The worst choice for high speed ! Plus , the trunk (and baggage) gets heated by the engine underneath .

Why do people buy these? Are people so desperate to buy a brand new car instead of a used one? Why buy a plastic tub like this when you could get something a year or two old with far more comforts, not to mention much better looks?

And some of these features that James mentioned at the beginning of this video - like the ABS and stability control - are already required on all new cars under EU law anyway.

I don't know what the hate is all about regarding this presenter but he seems very good, detailed, and precise. Was thinking of getting this car for my mom as she needs a steady, reliable, and fun to drive vehicle. I was told about this car and wanted to see what its all about. This is quite perfect for her needs. She'll be driving it around her usual spots like her grandkids' school, the nearby mall, and some restaurants. She won't be going off-road or doing anything crazy. Plus the warranty that they offer w/this car is quite impressive.

How can you say that the car comes with air bags and a fuel gage and a CD player? Like of course it's going to and the entry level of course will have those features. Even a 1998 Peugeot does!
In my country it's even more simple. There is 1 trim level, and only 1 engine. All you pay for is metalic paint and maybe an automatic. But of course you want to get the manual.
I don't understand Suzuki as a company. How can the same company that makes such awesome super bikes make such insipid and undesirable cars? Same thing with Nissan. They do the Awesome GTR, and they also do the utterly crap Micra.

+thelegendthatismatt their great for commuting to and from work.they're not meant to be your main means of transport, just to get you to and from work or for a trip to the nearest shop to get something you just run out of.you need a larger car as your second and main car for trips, large shopping with the family, or other stuff like that that require more room.

I bought a second hand one and its great for the money !
Despite this looking like something you would cut out and form from the back of a selection box as part of a Christmas game, I like this, it ticks all the boxes for me as a second car.

I own the car ,yes its the most spacious one in the category ,it is light and nippy ,handles safely ,it is comfortable but generally it is quite basic in most other sections . If you can afford the Kia Picanto 1.2 , it is a better choice . Nevertheless ,for town use it is quite adequate .
Dear Mr reviewer, do you normally carry 1L and larger bottles in your car? Me not, as I find it quite difficult to drink the last 200-300 ml of the 1.5l bottle (BOTTOMS UP :) ) Not just your, but all car review channels' big bottle tests are a joke. In real life it's not practical to be carrying big bottles, so what's the point of your big bottle tests? Test the volume of the glove boxes and door compartments and review the number of bottle/cup holders, but don't focus on the bottle size it can carry.
I normally carry a 1 liter bottle of water. The 500ml bottle/thermos contains my tea. I think 1 liter should be standard size as people don't normally carry around a drink container that's bigger than that.

The basic version in India it does not have airbags, and Global NCAP rated it as zero stars because they rated the body shell as unstable which probably means it doesn't have stabilisation either.

Camille Saint-Saëns at this price, A Sandero doesn't get that. This is the only genuine rival to the Sandero, and blows it out of the water
@@gamma_dablam The Sandero at the same price has a touchscreen with bluetooth, USB and Sat Nav, and can have electric windows all round for £100 extra. It's got 60 litres more boot space and is generally more spacious. The Celerio is good, but not cheap or big enough to be a serious rival to the Dacia.
It's like this guy had preconceptions about cheap cars and is shocked about the fact that it has seats! Get a grip all new cheap cars have that stuff. The up shift indicator on a type r is also available on a fiesta

Everyone knows this, but the Jones's attitude deliberately downplays or overlooks it.
With these super cheap cars I can't help but thinking you could probably get an actual car for that money on the used car market :P And probably loose much less of your money when reselling at after a few years.

keep fit rear windows, classic... and it's o.k having those big opening rear doors unless your parked next to it in your local asda and they whack your paintwork..
