Magic Man !!! This was their 1st hit. It was inspired when talking to her mother about her love for a Draft Dodger. Her dad was a marine. They were a military family. I actually got to see them before they made it at an event for a large electronics and music store. They had bands playing out in the parking lot all day. One other thing i won't forget that day was a record player playing a record suspended upside down from the ceiling. That was before CD's

😄This is the song that, in recent years, Ann Wilson has said she “has outgrown”!🤫
(…Which does make sense, since the subject matter is about a young woman rebelling against her mother’s wishes… and Ann herself is now in her 70s! (Tho she’s still fantastic and still going strong.🥰)

Yes More Heart.."Crazy On You" Yes she's younger here from the later 70's Stairway is much later from 2012..There are othe versions of this song were she let's loose a little bit..I would think doing concerts night after night that sometimes you have to rest your voice somewhat.Of course the studio version is much harder...I think that's why she has lasted so long as both her and her sister are still doing it though now Ann and Nancy have separate bands..

    The audio sounds off,
a little wobbly. The studio track sounds much better. You’ll appreciate it believe me. My favorite of theirs and that’s why I’m encouraging to listen to studio version. Great selection and reaction of Heart ❤️
Liked them in the 70s before they went pop in the 80s but still worth the listen✌🏼

Time to visit the far east, specifically Japan and Korea, and hear the bands keeping rock alive. The bands are all female, fantastic musicians and write their own music.
From Japan: BAND-MAID. Start with ‘Freedom,’ live. The song has a drum solo followed by a guitar solo. “An incredibly hard rocking maid band.”
Lovebites: heavy metal. ‘Swan Song’ has a Chopin intro by Miyako, who also plays a wicked guitar.
Gacharic Spin: impossible to categorize their music. Two songs I recommend are ‘Mindset’ and ‘Kachi Kachi Yama.’
Korea: Rolling Quartz. ‘Azalea’ will give you an idea of how these ladies can rock.
DIH: straight up rock. The lead guitarist/lead singer has a unique voice. Just pick a song.

Love that you don't stop the song first time through like others do.
Would you stop in the middle of exquisite foreplay with a new lover to make comments?
Gratifying to see youngsters discovering the power.
Based on what I see in your library, you will like these bands:
"Sons Of Champlin" - the album 'Loosen Up Naturally' 1969 and the songs 'Freedom' or 'Get High'. (Although 'Get High' has a gimmick it is a very interestingly constructed song that will satisfy what you are looking for.)
    Underappreciated 'san francisco sound' greatness:
"It's a Beautiful Day" 1969 and the songs 'Hot Summer Day', 'Wasted Union Blues'...then you'll be ready for 'Time Is'.

If you get the chance give a listen to "Mistral Wind" from the "Dog and Butterfly" album (1978). It starts off slowly with a ballad which gradually builds to a crescendo and shows the quiet and loud sides of the band to great effect. Ann's vocals really soar on this one.

U have to understand that Heart was the FIRST rock band to have a woman as the lead singer... Back in 1974, women sang pop, R&B, soul, jazz, folk or country... but not rock n' roll music. Ann Wilson (lead vocals) was the first one since Janis Joplin to sing in a rock band, and Janis got abused, shamed and ridiculed in her lifetime before her untimely death.
In the early 70's, Ann and Michael Fisher fell in love and she moved to Canada to be w/ him... The rest of Heart soon followed her there so that they could keep playing music, and Ann's sister Nancy Wilson joined on rhythm/ acoustic guitar... She and lead guitarist Roger Fisher (Michael's brother) became a couple.
Heart worked on original songs and finally got the finances from a Canadian label Mushroom Records to record their debut album 'Dreamboat Annie' in 1975... Released in Canada that Fall, Heart got radio airplay for the single 'Magic man'... the album sold 30K copies in Canada alone, so a US distribution got 'Dreamboat Annie' released in 1976 ... With the 2 singles 'Magic man' and 'Crazy on you'... the album went to #7 in the US charts and top 40 in the UK as well.
In those days, u had to pay radio DJ's either drugs or women to put a band's singles on the air... Ann & Nancy were not going to cozy up to DJ's w/ their boyfriends in Heart, so they had to pay for airplay... Singer Pat Benatar recalled promoting her music on radio stations around 1979/ '80 and she claimed that DJ's would insist that she sit on their lap and feel her up if they were to give her singles airplay... It was a sleazy business to say the least...
Heart was working on a 2nd album 'Magazine', when they discovered that Mushroom Records sent a promo to tabloids that Ann and Nancy were lesbian lovers... They were furious and left the label w/ 'Magazine' only partially recorded. CBS Records signed the band and they wrote and recorded their 1977 album 'Little queen'... which had the hit single 'Barracuda'... Mushroom Records released the 'Magazine' album w/ the few studio tracks mixed in w/ live tracks to capitalize on Heart's popularity.

@@straycatttt2766 Fleetwood Mac didn't have a female singer until 1975....Ann Wilson fronted Heart since the early 70's.
Besides. those 3 hardly qualified as 'rock bands' ... 😈

      @straycatttt2766 ปีที่แล้ว

@@sumonjamal1653 , Christine McVie sang with Fleetwood Mac since the early 1970’s.
You lack credibility by alleging my examples were not rock bands. Heart was a club band until 1975.
A correct reply would be to note that neither Grace Slick nor Christine McVie were the primary lead singers for their rock bands and that Fanny only achieved minor fame. Thus, Ann Wilson was one of the first primary lead singers for a major rock band.

The fact that u think that Fleetwood Mac, Fanny, and Jefferson Airplane were rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Status Quo or Jimi Hendrix Experience... just shows YOUR lack of understanding of the genre 🙄
And whether Heart was a 'club band' until 1975 is irrelevant... They were still the first heavy rock band to be fronted by a female lead singer... 😈

I suggest the song Crazy on You next. Also, I am not sure if there are live versions but the songs Little Queen, Dreamboat Annie, Even it Up, Straight On and Dog & Butterfly. Some of them are a little bit more on the slow side and not hard rockers. If you want to jump ahead to their comeback years in the 1980s then the ballad Alone is amazing. These Dreams, If Looks Could Kill which is a good rocker are a couple more from the 80s. They actually have put out some good albums over the past 20 years as well but they don't get much attention.
