Just went through my 1961 johnson 6hp new water pump carb kit and points and condenser got to put a new coil on it now. It had been sitting in a closet for about 25 years.
Thanks, Steve, that's it! I've got a Johnson J6BFCNR Model and could'nt find it on any list you get pushed to when asking in forums. I was told that the "cn" in the modelnumber says it's a 1982 model but all those videos about that modelyear show a different underwater housing. i spent HOURS(!!!) searching. But this one from your video is like mine *yippieeee*👍👍👍
They are fun .She is a two stroke. It can push a 12ft aluminum boat pretty nice.I have her in Canada doing some fishing . Thanks for watching buddy !!!
I am currently stuck with my boat on the dock I managed, I just quit tho, and my motor is giving me alot of issues. so im hoping your video series helps me. I am not a motor guy hahah
Steve Good to see you on here again !!! Getting ready for those lake perch are ya ? We enjoyed many years of your lake perch from Bruce Bradford whom owned "The 2nd Amendment" which was the Baddest Punkin gun in the world !!! LOL have you ever heard of that machine? he lived somewhere close to Muskogen ?? I know that's not spelled right... and he came to Delaware ever year for Punkin Chunkin ! We used to have a Pontoon boat and I have had to replace water pumps and fill lower units with oil and I did my own winterizations and spring start ups... Man I miss that boat !!! Looking forward to watching this outboard come back to life .......
That's a bit north of me,,,, Nice name for a pumpkin gun :) Finally getting outside. Nice day today here. Got to move on to the fuel pump, She has always ran good but want to keep her that way. I foged her two yrs ago. Boy the spark plugs had a gummy coat on them. Had to clean them before she would start !
Do you ever reseal that yellow cap the impeller unit sits on top? Got the kit to do it, but Can’t decide if mine is leaking oil And don’t want to damage it as it seems seized down.
Never have, after I installed the impeller that is it. to replace the oil in the gearcase you never have to go this far. This is for water pump only. There is no oil involved . I am not sure what could be happening if you are getting oil on or in the "yellow cap" that you see in this video. Please watch all "1 and 2" videos on this that I posted. this video is only part 1. the 2nd part may help . If not I am sorry
Little round screen by the prop. It is cast into the lower gear case on flat part. Actually when the prop turns it helps to force water . Keep the little screen clean . Its down by the prop above the nut that holds the prop on
I would say yes. Not 100% sure but just looked at one on line and it looks just like my 6hp. The shifter rod might be a little different but the over all job very similar. Thier is a fella on youtube called Brandon's garage and he works on outboard motors . Check him out too! He does many different Hp Johnsons and Evenrude engine videos.

@@stevekline7247 thanks
Would this apply for a 1985 8hp Johnson ?

@@stevekline7247 thanks!
Is this the same as a 6hp evinrude?
Yes
