I can no longer hear the word "Draft" without hearing Nightmare Grahm saying "Lay down 10 cards. Pass your packs to the left. you have 15 seconds."
What's that from?
@@gunfighter009 there's a recent episode of the crack a pack where Graham opened an Ikoria "Day 2" draft pool that was sent by [REDACTED] since... pro tour Ikoria really couldn't happen thanks to the pandemic.
This recent crack-a-pack where they "opened" a day 2 draft set: th-cam.com/video/omaNOINVyjY/w-d-xo.html
@@gunfighter009it was from one of the individual crack a packs, iirc
@@JoachimSauer1 Thanks I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyways.
LRR Presents Murders at Karlov Manor PPR: A live murder mystery dinner theater experience. But instead of a murder mystery its obscure rule violations with Sherlock Jager and Dr. Salahub, going back through an entire commander game to figure out where the rules were first broken and how it derailed everything.
Murder at Judge's Tower
Bite has been my chosen vernacular for that effect
I usually use either bite or punch
I personally like seeing sealed events for the PPR because it helps me prep for my own prereleases! That being said, I'll enjoy anything that you choose to do.
Came here to say the same thing 😌
There is in fact a Queen Lian card. It’s Vampire Sovereign, a card from the same set that has the spell as an etb
Pretty sure she's from Ixalan
@@CmdrUD87 To quote mtg-multiverse:
> "Probably just a fun little plane-less story from M19, but these cards [ed. Blood tithe, Sovereign's Bite, Vampire Sovereign] hint at a vampire-ruled Eastern-European world. This is possibly part of the unseen continent of Ixalan, and is something we’re keeping an eye out for in the future."
Honestly it's worth poking at mtg-multiverse's "unknown worlds" page, there's a lot of weird little three-card core set planes out there.
I like Bite, because it combines with Fight to allow me to sing the Itchy & Scratchy theme song more often.
My group has always said
Bite: Target creature you control deals damage another target
Fight: they both deal damage to each other
Punch: whenever you're casting savage punch on alpine grizzly
Every time Graham calls that effect a punch I mutter to my myself "it's called a bite, Graham" so I'm glad today he's learned the truth 😂
Also I'm not sure if it's the term R&D generally uses for it, but it is the one MaRo uses at least
And then he calls it punch again at 37:25
@@_ravanys I mean, the card he's talking about there is Really Epic Punch, so I can see why he'd call it a punch card. Also it's a fight effect, not a bite.
@@justherby3567 okay fair, you (and Graham) win this one
I'm looking forward to the first pre-prerelease winston draft
Reminder that Trigger Happy is part of a two-card instant-win combo with Form of the Approach of the Second Sun.
Trigger Happy is still one of my favorite un- cards just because of how simple it is despite absolutely breaking the rules of the game
First card and I'm already falling for the engagement bait: LCI has no "dinosaur Act of Treason". In fact it has no Act of Treason at all. VOW had the blood one, and MID had a werewolf one, yes.
If Wheeler and Adam are at the same table at some point, I'm happy
I could absolutelly see the Willow faerie get played in brawl or something were it printed into Arena.
Slap a Blanchwood armor on that bad girl and you made yourself a dragon:)
I do appreciate Sealed so we can see what is going on with pools and people don't always know what to draft at first sight. How about some sort of Team Sealed shenanigans? 3v3 or 4v4 round robin would be able to fill your usual game capacity. Or a game of 2 headed giant in the middle or something?
Anything teamed would keep all the Sealed flavour that we all know and love, while allowing you to feasibly chose 1v1 or 2v2 formats, depending on how many people will be there for your "contractually unobligated PPR".
In the video description: " as we await the release of Markov Manor".
Good to see I'm not the only one that gets it mixed up.
I love that this is called "Winter 2024", because winter didn't hit in my area until January XD
For Scooch, the lack of "until end of turn" isn't what makes it acorn, it's the targeting of a "dice result".
Worth noting that there are non-acorn cards that change die results (e.g. Xenosquirrels) though I don't think any of them use "target" (and hence there's some timing weirdness with Scooch that they don't have).
47:00 I still remember the time I cast Saw In Half on my Triplicate Titan in my Megatron deck in response to someone trying to exile it just before I moved to combat.
Excellent, as always. Thank you
Thanks for being here, it's been great to have you
Best speculation for Queen Lian is that she’s from Torrezon, the vampire continent of Ixalan, based on the aesthetic of vampire sovereign from the same set matching the Ixalan vampire’s aesthetic. She’s also mentioned in that flavor text.
Heres hoping for 3 or even 4 headed giant for the pre prerelease!
If it's only LRR folks for the PPR, doing in character as your Friday Nights personas would be hilarious
Sarkhan's Unsealing is a staple in my very silly 5-colour dragons deck. It's too slow vs a lot of decks, but when it pops off it feels amazing.
we ABSOLUTELY say bite, look at Bite Down
Fight and Bite have always been my vernacular. Just like Loot and Rummage, they are accepted shortening for the effects in the Limited circle at our LGS.
Commenting a bit later in the video : I want a deep pocket of packs. That sounds like a great problem to have.
Rakdos Burn in pauper loved Sovereign's bite.
Homelands, iirc, had a weird rarity system where there were like three "levels" of both common and uncommon, and no rares at all, and half the set had two or more art pieces to collect
I was right there with Kathleen; thought that I knew Homelands. I did not.
Wow I wonder why the contract wasn't done for this year? Definitely has nothing to do with the fact WotC/Hasbro laid off 1100 employees. Nah. That'd be crazy.
TEAM SEALED Friday Nights style
Fight/Bite has good mouth feel, but also might be easy to mis-hear when your opponent explains it. No one is going to create ambiguity when they mumble Fight/Punch.
I ABSOLUTELY say Bite specifically because of Rapid Bite.
also infectious bite, also bite down!
i hope wotc figures out the contracting stuff for the remaining pprs
Beejlander PPR confirmed? (no, I assume not, but still). Its a sealed limited highlander with Level 5 Super Judge Beej being able to be called and change the rules has he wants
I would say "punch" specifically because "bite" and "fight" sound too similar. Also, Queen Lian seems to be an M19 original character; she's on Vampire Sovereign and Sovereign's Bite.
This really makes me want to play (or even just see someone play) a Homelands draft just to see what kind of a mess it would be (of course, sealed might make more sense considering draft wasn't a consideration at the time but drafting regardless might make it even more jank).
Played the hell outta sovereign’s bite and Nelson was indeed correct there was a decent rakdos burn deck that standard on a budget
Sealed is much better for demonstrating what the cards in the set do, and it also keeps the flavor of a prerelease. Draft can lead to some cards falling by the wayside more easily. I like the moments where you see a third Chance-Met Elves 😂. Please do Sealed, especially because it's now Play Boosters, so someone's pool could potentially be juiced. I like that variance. Also, when you get the contract settled, please please please invite Maldhound up for Thunder Junction pretty please.
Hey LRR did you know that the TapTapConcede and North 100 playlists are not marked as podcasts on this channel? (Only Punt/Counterpunt shows up on the Podcasts tab).
Also all these buildings from Homelands really stumped Kathleen. I wonder if they would use fortifications if they went back (or you know, would just not print so many buildings)
I'm still waiting for the foreign pack special ttc. I know there should be at least 3 German backs flying around there 😂
I accidentally made infinite storm in my unfinity prerelease with trigger happy and Magar of the Magic Strings 44:24
Suggestion for the ppr: Draft, but randomly in the middle of it Beej comes in and swaps around people's draft pools a couple times.
Come now Nelson, Saw in Half is the third best card! ___ Goblin is by far the strongest, then Cosmo the best boi and then Saw in Half.
I also 100% say bite & fight
I love the stand alone crack a pack episodes but have you guys ever thought about always having two people do it I think it would add a lot more life to the episodes instead of just Graham saying "do you guys remember this common" to an empty room.
There's always someone on tech and everyone else is busy.
I managed to draft Trigger Happy in a deck with Cosmo. Since all Cosmo's loyalty abilities are triggered by whatever number you roll on a D6 it let me choose the 6 option that let's you roll two more times. I must've rolled for Cosmo like 8 times in one turn, it was absurd.
Love the long form crack a pack
Bite, yes. Because of Rabid Bite, yes. Nom.
i appreciate nelson playing saw in half alongside rune-scarred demon instead of broodlord
Graham over here with his Mary Poppins pocket of packs.
Just started the episode but I gotta say, Nelson's outfit looks great!
Saw In Half is my favourite card in my Chatterfang deck.
It's been so long since Unfinity's release, and only now do I realize Abattoir Ghoul got first strike anyways, so alpha strike wouldn't even do anything for it.
I like this content. It's simple and satisfying. Just added Stump the Experts to my playlist. Does anyone know if the situation with WoTC sponsoring PPRs is resolved by now?
Also, Bite is perfect but my personal term is 'Clock' as in "He clocked him out of nowhere" or "Valduk clocks Yargle, killing it." I dunno if that's British slang specifically but people always get what I mean here
I've heard and used both bite and punch, but I'd say "punch" is used more colloquially/informally, while bite is a lot closer to being used as something akin to a keyword. Also I like bite better because it rhymes with fight, but punch is still a fine term to use.
hold a match that is wheeler plays both decks nad is the table friend, maybe with fake beards. and let james play!
Bite only affects creatures/planeswalkers. Punch can hit face too.
Fight and bite!
I always said fight (both deal damage) or bite (only controller’s deals damage)
Is it intentional that the Spotify version of this podcast says Markov Manor? 😃
Are we getting a Lost Caverns of Ixalan Nicknames episode?
At some point, I don't remember when or where, they said no. Didn't work out with scheduling at the end of the year
Content that'd be good to do in a pinch, that is shockingly not way overdone that I can tell: Magic set tier list.
I'm trying to find the episode of Friday Nights where Cameron is "helping" someone build a deck but he's actually just completely changing their archetype.
He says "Now [name], why are you playing [card name] in a [archetype name] deck? That's a nonbo idiot."
Can anyone help me????
I have been saying punch, but bite is much better on many levels, so I'll be switching!
I've been hearing punch for the green removal spell. Although...bite is probably more apt. I personally think I prefer punch. Just sounds more satisfying.
I don't remember but bite works better than punch.
I say "Punch"; it is much less vauge as to what the effect does.
I know the effect as "bite"
I'm always here to bite!
is def fight and bite
I use both Bite or Punch interchangably
So I was really down on act of treason effects but I have been losing a surprisingly large number of matches to them so idk. Also punch
I've only ever used "punch"
My playgroup says punch.
Really hoping MH3 takes us back to Homelands
We saw it in MoM when it was invaded, but keeping true to tradition the card was bad.
Rochester PPR when?!
It's bite
PPR just needs lots of Wheeler.
Bite
Hopefully a commander game at the PPR. Kindest regards to all those in front and behind the cameras.
Is it just me or is Psychic Symbiont's art really yonic?
I have 47 packs of Homelands I could send if you wanted to stream a draft
I'm a punch guy myself
I'd prefer "punch" over "bite", because there are too many cards with "bite" in the name that are nothing like Rabid Bite, and punching is one half of a fight. Then again, I don't actively play MtG, so you do you.
Acxtually the Mist is not the rare, That pack has no rares because Technically homelands has no rares it has U1 and U2, and you opened 2 U2 in your pack and no U1
The 2 U2 you opened are Sea Troll, and An Hava Inn.
Yo if you cant get anyone for PPRs im happy to go up for it just gimme a ring
It saddens me that the PPR isn't something that'll be sponsored, because that means less money for you guys. It's nice to get the product but eh?
Besides that, if you do a draft as well, it would be great PPR content.
the absolute shittiness of homelands cards never doesnt surprise me...
Pack wars PrePrerelease pls?
Love to Saw In Half targeting Hoarding Broodlord 🥰
