One of the ideas for a fifth stage in Shin Godzilla's evolution was a massive humanoid with an eerie smiling face and its dorsal fins replaced with spiney wing-like growths with the small beings born from its skin looking more humanoid as well. Also, instead of ripping themselves away in pain like in that final scene, they were supposed to look like their 'birth' was full of ecstasy and pleasure, Toho didn't go with it since it was a huge change for Godzilla but considering that it was directed and written by the same guy who gave us Evangelion it wasn't much of a surprise.
Still the idea of that happening and humans started to worship this version of Godzilla as an actual deity made me remember that concept.

There's a lot of early ideas they had for Shin splitting into multiple beings. The humanoid is almost like a meta twist for the actor exiting the suit and becoming a monster themselves. I can see why they didn't go with it, since the movie is already breaking the Godzilla mold pretty hard, but it would've been cool.

What makes this alternate timeline, and by extension the movie itself, even more tragic is Godzilla himself. Most Godzillas usually either don’t care that they trample over people or do notice and enjoy it. In the events of the movie, Shin doesn’t even notice he kills people, it’s all unintentional collateral damage. He only reacted when something strong enough to hurt him showed up. That brings up my next point.
Shin is constantly evolving. He’s constantly in pain. When he fires the atomic breath from his mouth, he doesn’t shoot it, he vomits it. When he roars, it’s not a triumphant “I am the unstoppable king of the monsters, kneel before me!”, it’s a cry out for death. So in this timeline, we’re dealing with a horde of Shin Godzillas, all capable of evolving to the point of being unstoppable, laying waste to earth and humanity. Prime Shin’s roar at the end…was that in triumph or despair?
I'd say a bit of both. He's destroyed everything humanity had built, and there's nothing that can stop him.
Perhaps it was victory roar yet one of despair since he's still the same creature always evolving and changing and always in pain.
At this point who should care about Godzilla's pain? He's one being, forced to live and yes, It's horrible agony, but think of the billions of lives he will take and ultimately cause much, MUCH more pain and suffering than he could ever go through.

Dropping an atomic bomb on a creature which can evolve and regenerate pretty fast and consumes radiation seems like the most american thing i have ever heard on a godzilla movie.

Destroyah, huh… Oh, what if Shin Goji turns into different Godzilla monsters depending on what’s being thrown at it? It becomes Rodan when attacked by tanks, Anguirus when attacked from above, Biollante when it absorbs plant DNA, and Mechagodzilla when a piece of it is stored in a metal container.

Now i wanna see how shin godzilla style analog horror series would be, most of analog horror had a slow but steady pacing from a small anomaly to a world ending scenarios in the ending, that's gonna be perfect for shin godzilla

It's a shame that last bit had to be censored because that was arguably the most horrifying thing about it all-- the effect on the common man. The innocents-- total extinction not through a fast burst of destruction, but through a slow, terrifying, arduous process of their bodies either burning or being torn down by radiation.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH! the fear I felt when I saw "11/21/22 Godzilla surfaces in San-Francisco. Final Hours of the U.S." FANTASTIC job!
After watching this animation I now see a lot of missed potential for shin Godzilla. It could’ve been a much darker and more eerie film. Imagine if we had got a film that mixed cosmic horror and body horror. It could’ve easily been the scariest Godzilla movie ever made.
You ever saw the concept art from the movie? Godzilla was supposed to go through binary fission (assexual reproduction by copying).
And also after a while the whole godzilla body parts would fall off, and what would emerge was a goddess like titan with some godzilla stuff.

@@superadambomb5834 Well, from shin gojira case, it is because it was made by the creator evangelion. Hes experiencied with uncanny giant humans designs, but toho wanted something more like godzilla.
Thats why we didnt see godzilla shed herself into a goddess. Other versions of the design were that godzilla when evolving wouldnt mutate its body, but rather tear it apart like a metamorphosing insect
We could have got that, but the intention of the movie itself is completely different.
Maybe if Anno wanted to make another one more focused on Gojira evolving he’d be more Evangelion-esque.
This was originally Anno’s plan, but the studio didn’t want him to veer to far away from conventional Godzilla. There are only so much that studios will let visionary directors get away with on established properties.

What’s even more sad about the story is that shin Godzilla is constantly in pain due to his constant mutations. But that also means he can never die, so he will be in a constant state of eternal agony, with nothing to do on a destroyed planet and always suffering. His roars aren’t in his great triumph, but a call for someone to put him out of his misery.

I was lucky enough to buy a copy of The Art of Shin Godzilla, it’s over 300 pages and heavy (no joke I could probably use it as a self-defence weapon), and while I can’t read the writing the concept art for what Shin Godzilla would have become had the humans not gotten super lucky is both beautiful and super scary … one of the concepts is a large angelic-looking humanoid, what were Shin Godzilla’s spines are now it’s wings and it has both hands clasped almost like it’s praying with a really disturbing blank face 😰😰😰
(But there is an official interview saying eventually “Shin Godzilla would have become the Universe” so … make of that what you will)

Well I’ll tell you, since gojira can regenerate, if they dropped a nuke on him, millions of pieces of gojira would spread, if all pieces are there multiple gojira’s start to develop. Time after time will be a waste, they can’t do anything about shin gojira, just like shin sonic. For example: shin sonic can dodge all their attacks because he can still run at the speed of light at that size. Gojira at the other hand can regenerate. It takes 5 forms for him to complete himself. And the only way to kill shin is to freeze him, just like “knuckles has to get all super emeralds to use back on sonic”

I love the detail of the pictures of the burning city is covered in the white spots caused by radiation!
Though the producers showed alternative future evolutions in art work I still theorize that because of the vestigial mouth tail he could have gone from just Shin Godzilla to becoming something of a Shin Ghidorah.
I love how in all the incarnations of Godzilla the governments first thought is “hey let’s nuke the radiation absorbing monster”
So Shin Gojira swam allllllllll the way across the Pacific from Japan to the USA...... and only when he arrived did his body evolves wings??

He didn't die, he's just defrosting. Unless humanity develops some sort of giant sterilizing tool that would kill his cells and leave a dead husk, this will be the ending.

It was going to originally you can look it up it was going to happen but last minute they removed it but still left hints like the photo of the growing eye balls on the flesh of shin it was a scene from the movie originally before they cut it due to being to dark and the movie was to short they wanted the movie to be 7 hours long and they wanted to show shin-5 to 6 where 6 is the flying shin which also was cut from the movie and at the end of shin movie they show how even do it’s frozen the tail was slightly growing into a head and having people crawling out of it
