Not so fun fact: There are many theories as to what Gojira is, but one thing is for certain, it’s that Gojira is in constant pain. Listen to the song “who will know”, it plays during the atomic breath scene and it gives us a glimpse into Gojira’s mind, it’s truly tragic.

This Godzilla is kinda odd and if you pay attention it's not intentionally attacking until its forced to. It almost looks like it's looking for something. Plus its in constant pain, practically a walking tumor. So while suffering confused and in pain you're being attacked so it starts defending itself. Most of the damage before it attacked was just due to moving at that size.

The sad fact abt shin is that the roar is a scream,if u go to the ost "who will know" the lyrics are resembling shin's pain as hes body dont want him to die and keep moving
A little trivia worth knowing about Shin Godzilla: The director of Shin (who is also the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion) later made concept art about what Shin Godzilla could have been if Toho gave him full control and creativity. Godzilla's "final" form is depicted as a humanoid angel-like being, supposedly beyond human compehension. Basically trying to say that Godzilla has become God himself, which goes to show how this version of him truly has boundless adaptability. Imo this is easily the most terrifying and menacing Godzilla ever made. The fact that the movie's name literally translates to "The true/absolute Godzilla" solidifies my opinion for it.
I honestly like the Godzilla in this movie better Because he represents exactly what Godzilla should be: he's no hero or villain, he's no king, he's a mindless beast, just a living and walking nuke
I am someone who only just started watching Godzilla movies, it's truly amazing that something like Shin Godzilla or Godzilla Minus One can exist and use Godzilla and then a completely different version in the current Legendary movies can also exist and they're all great to watch.
Now the thing about the tail those weren't teeth those were his fifth evolution where he had realized sometimes being small will be helpful and sort of made many mini Godzillas as a way to fight humanity
29:40 - The fact they saw it mutate was why they didn't shoot, I'd say. They probably assumed wouldn't work anymore, if it ever would have to begin with, and given how Godzilla wasn't being actively aggressive at that moment, there was reason to worry hey might provoke it and cause it rampage harder which would have been more damaging, in other words shooting it at that time was a gamble that didn't look promising enough to take, from what i could tell. All that aside Shin Godzilla is a unique take on Godzilla, its implied he mutated from a fish rather than a reptile. And whats sad and scary is that its not even intentionally destructive, even when it destroyed the city with lasers it wasn't intentional but simple a bodily reaction, equivalent to having diarrhea. Shin's body is constantly mutating which causes it to suffer just by living, it's pretty much just following its instincts in any effort to minimize its suffering, all while practically oblivious to the harm it causes, not unlike people unknowingly stepping on ants. The music that plays during its Atomic Breath "who will know" basically represents Shin's own perspective on things.
This movie just expressed what happened in 2011 in Japan when the earthquake happened then the nuclear power plant melted down causing radiation through out Japan just like when shin Godzilla caused mass destruction like the earthquake and tsunami did he also brought radiation to the civilians.
Shin godzilla is indeed based off a frilled shark which became polluted because he ate nuclear waste that was dumped in 1950’s and can endlessly evolve into a hyperversal creature too if he doesn’t get stopped, can you imagine a poor hungry fish wanting to eat something and he eats something bad and becomes this? And gets attacked by the whole world while he is already in pain
Quick recap of the Gojira/Godzilla timeline. The original Godzilla was made in 1954 by Toho, and later had many sequels up to 1975. This timeline is called the Showa era. Then from 1984 to 1995, the Heisei era took place, which was also made by Toho. In 1998, the first American Godzilla film was made, and it was horrible, this inspired Toho to make the Millennium era, which takes place from 1999 to 2004. We are now in the Reiwa era, this title means nothing as there are now multiple continuities, like the monsterverse (legendary Godzilla and Kong) shin (standalone film made by Toho) and minus one (another stand alone film by Toho, might have sequels) that’s about it for now.
The Reiwa Era is fine and means something. The Millennium Era only had 2 of the 6 movies connected in continuity, while the other 4 were standalone movies.
In my opinion the soundtrack for this movie is one of the best ive heard out of any movies ive seen. It takes the godzilla themes and osts and transforma it into a suspensful masterpeice. It perfectly potrays that this isnt godzilla. This is shin godzilla
Fun fact about shin he’s in constant pain from evolving so much you can tell by his music he want to DIE but his body will not until the job is finished.
Japan: Hey US, We have this creature called Gojira. It’s eat Nuclear Radiation. We don’t know how to kill it. US: Did you try with Nukes? Japan: WTF, Dude. We’re saying it eats Nuclear Radiation US: You expecting me to have IQ more than 1? We will using Nukes to kill it. Japan: …
I mean, if Bunker Busters were able to clearly cause him pain, a nuke would have a fairly high chance of vaporizing him. Problem is that he'd probably grow back if a single spec of him remained.
It feeds off nuclear material, not radiation itself necessarily. The hope is the blast or blasts will destroy it so thoroughly it can't regenerate. And as a last resort, even if it runs the risk of feeding Godzilla, the biggest blast we can muster is better than nothing.

To answer your timeline question this is the first time that they ever did a movie where nobody in the world knew what a Godzilla was it's a complete like a what if all the other Godzillas toho put out, except for -1 have at least had the 1954 movie as Cannon they are new worlds where nobody has any idea what Godzilla is, the monster verse is its own entity as is Godzilla 1998, every American Godzilla is not considered part of Godzilla's Canon there was a little bit of 1998 in Godzilla final wars that's the one case where there was a crossover of sorts
I personally prefer this Godzilla movie to all the other ones. I love how its mostly animated yet it STILL feels like the older movies with minatures and costumes. They did amazing work on this movie, I just wish we could get a second one.
Shin Godzilla is pretty insane. Those things on its tail at the end were its response to out evolve its enemies, those were human Godzilla hybrids. They probably would have had a queen bee mentality or a hive mind, meaning again Godzilla would have grown its own army
Fun fact: shin godzilla is always in pain, when he was going through the city, the blood from his gills were going out because he couldnt breathe and that was the only way to get rid of the oxygenless blood, when it evolved, it's bones stabbed itself, it's skin and muscles were growing at an unstable rate, almost tearing itself, and it couldnt cool itself down after the breath blast
In the game, Godzilla has beam attack from his fin vents to stop planes, it's nothing new, but took me a lot of time to utilize the attack and this does caught me in surprise.
The director of this movie is also known for neon Genesis evangelion an incredible anime series it is that that is one of the biggest reasons I think that is on Crunchyroll
Since y‘all wrote so many facts in the comments. Lemme tell you sumthin‘ (Shane Walsh *rubs bald head*) Everytime in where Godzilla screams in THIS movie, it is not to make the humans scared or that he screams so he is KING. Nahhh he actually screams because of the pain he is suffering from. Crazy right? Sad but also creepy…
I love the eerie tragic end of the world feel in the song that plays in the background the first time godzilla appears on land. The lyrics go as: Persecution of the masses Sacred Blessings count for nothing Oh God give us your protection Let no blame lie at the innocents who have prayed If your high praise is all we have let us not be without you. This song gives me the feeling that there is no hope and that the only thing you have left is the welcoming arms of God himself, so they're begging that God won't abandon them in death.
fun fact shin's flesh is a living being there is a deleted scene where they find chunks of his skin and the found teeth and eyes covering it and shin is in constant pain
if you like this, I HIGHLY recommend Shin Ultraman. You'd love it (also, the end scene was the tip of its tail. If you looked closley throughout the movie, it had a face on its tail ever since his 4th form. the next stage, 5th form is when a bunch of humanoid monsters sprout from its tail and go on land. kinda like zombies)
Another thing to add is, Shin Godzilla isn't evil. It only wants to exist, its body crushing it with each step, its being burnt by the radiation. Imagine yourself, constantly in torturous pain, and then someone inflicts more pain. you would naturally want to defend yourself and give yourself ease from the pain. That is the only reason why shin godzilla attacked. When he was walking through the city he wasn't really walking to destroy but really just passing through.
It’s so sad that when he first comes on land he doesn’t want to hurt humans he just in constant pain and confusion until his 5th form where he is still in pain but he willingly fights back
Fun fact: shin Godzilla is in pain the entire movie, he doesn't want to evolve, and he thinks he's still a small creature, he defends himself by destroying the city and finally getting peace by being frozen
Fun thing that's unfortunately lost in translation, the Japanese release has several visual gags relating to the on-screen titles of staff members, where protagonist Yaguchi eventually has a title that takes up a quarter of the screen if I recall. There's an English text edit that restores this, but also has hard-coded subtitles sadly. The film's satire on the government's sluggish response, combined with the Evangelion-esque cinematography, music and editing makes it a treat and definitely a standout of the Godzilla series.

Not so fun fact: There are many theories as to what Gojira is, but one thing is for certain, it’s that Gojira is in constant pain. Listen to the song “who will know”, it plays during the atomic breath scene and it gives us a glimpse into Gojira’s mind, it’s truly tragic.
The lyrics also say it all
He bleeds due to him evolving so quickly to the point where he's not used to being above the surface and it rapidly getting used to it. And his bubbly skin was rapid mitosis of him evolving at such a fast rate.
Fun fact:
Whenever Shin Godzilla roars its actually it screaming in pain.
the very end where you can see little people coming off of Godzilla, that was actually his new evolution where he would send little versions of himself the size of humans to take them out. he was going to eventually evolve into what took him out.
"If Godzilla is defeated by committee, he will become a committee."
@@GoGojiraGo lol
Theres 2 voices representing godzilla. The high pitch voice just wants the pain to stop
And the lower pitch voice thinks that by fighting and causing destruction theres a slight chance that the pain could stop
Fun Fact: Shin Godzilla's blood gets boiling hot and when it roars it means it's in pain and wants to cool down. Shin Godzilla ran back to the water to cool down as it is in pain.
17:38 the reason it was bleeding from its gills was because it was evolving to breath on land (which to me is scary as hell)
the anger you had about the government waiting so long to take action is the point. This movie is a metaphor about the earthquake, tsunami and power plant disaster that took place in japan and is a common sentiment held by the people effected by the disaster
"Oh my go- BADDIE! Oh my goddd"
Lmao bro has priorities 😂
Fun fact: shin godzilla was planned to have 8-10 forms, but to keep the movie short they had japan freeze godzilla ultimately ending him at the very very beginning of his 5th form
true 100% true if the freezing didint work the movie well be 8h long 💀
@@THEHUNTEROFKILLER as someone who have watched 15 hour of anime

This Godzilla is kinda odd and if you pay attention it's not intentionally attacking until its forced to. It almost looks like it's looking for something. Plus its in constant pain, practically a walking tumor. So while suffering confused and in pain you're being attacked so it starts defending itself. Most of the damage before it attacked was just due to moving at that size.
If you listen closely to the ost "who will know", you recognize that Shin Godzilla is in pain and wants to die, but his body won't let him.
The lyrics are so sad, definitely one of the best pieces of music from a film
AKA a song recommend for people who have Depression and PTSD

Not like other Godzilla theme that showing its power proud this one show the pain, you can hear it from the lyrics it self, " if I die in this world, who will know something of me,I am lost

The sad fact abt shin is that the roar is a scream,if u go to the ost "who will know" the lyrics are resembling shin's pain as hes body dont want him to die and keep moving
A little trivia worth knowing about Shin Godzilla:
The director of Shin (who is also the creator of Neon Genesis Evangelion) later made concept art about what Shin Godzilla could have been if Toho gave him full control and creativity.
I only knew about the final form consecutive but definitely didn’t know the director was the creator of one of my favorite animes
And his/her evolving is is unlimited and he she can multiply based on the deleted scene
0:38 A lot of the dub actors are VAs for other Crunchyroll shows. I personally recognized the voices of AllMight, Erwin Smith, and a few others.
Chris Guerrero is also in the Shin Godzilla dub
I honestly like the Godzilla in this movie better
Because he represents exactly what Godzilla should be: he's no hero or villain, he's no king, he's a mindless beast, just a living and walking nuke
ye i agree
I am someone who only just started watching Godzilla movies, it's truly amazing that something like Shin Godzilla or Godzilla Minus One can exist and use Godzilla and then a completely different version in the current Legendary movies can also exist and they're all great to watch.
I mean no they can't exist but yeah they're cool movies
@@jackiejackyjaqy You do realize I was talking about the movies themselves right? Not the actual kaiju?
One fact everyone should know is that the only reason why shin is screaming and roaring is because he is in pain because of his evolving
My dad is credited for the Choir lyrics in this movie
Shin standing over the flaming city will never not give me the chills
Oh yes, I've been looking for people who reacted to this

Showa, Heisei and Reiwa are all named after different emperors, even if they don't exactly line up.
30:01 people have been debating who’s stronger since that king of the monsters came out
In my opinion the soundtrack for this movie is one of the best ive heard out of any movies ive seen. It takes the godzilla themes and osts and transforma it into a suspensful masterpeice. It perfectly potrays that this isnt godzilla. This is shin godzilla

Japan: WTF, Dude. We’re saying it eats Nuclear Radiation
US: You expecting me to have IQ more than 1? We will using Nukes to kill it.

There’s a monster in shin ultra called gomess, it looks like shin Godzilla
Fun fact: Shin is apparently in constant pain since its evolving so quickly and ripping its skin. So it's essentially like a walking burning scab. I guess if I were him, I'd have an attitude, too. This movie was insane!
The reason why America hurt shin godzilla and Japan couldn't is because Japan has less advanced military tech, the bomb used to attack shin godzilla is a mop II bunker buster which can penetrate through 200ft of reinforced concrete. Japan didn't have any bombs that penetrate stuff because they never needed one.

The lyrics go as:
Persecution of the masses
Sacred Blessings count for nothing
Oh God give us your protection
Let no blame lie at the innocents who have prayed
If your high praise is all we have
let us not be without you.
Yo just went back from Japan, 10000/10 for me. Hope you enjoy your visit
if you like this, I HIGHLY recommend Shin Ultraman. You'd love it (also, the end scene was the tip of its tail. If you looked closley throughout the movie, it had a face on its tail ever since his 4th form. the next stage, 5th form is when a bunch of humanoid monsters sprout from its tail and go on land. kinda like zombies)
Not only that, he becomes a giant hunan
Fun fact: shin godzilla is always in pain everytime just pain he roars cause hes in pain
Godzilla Minus One next pls, if you loved this you'll love that one.
