He doesn't aim, he just fully relies on the damn huge splash radius from the rockets. It can deal enormous damage at any distance and is the most durable class in the game after Heavy, but unlike the latter, the Soldier can also quickly move around the map. Pyro, as I said above, is complete garbage at long range, he cannot boast of huge damage and HP, he literally cannot do anything to a Soldier or another class that shoots at him from afar, so you have to rely only on Airblast. This is why Pyro is more difficult than Soldier, and Pyro requires more skills.
