I love how they fly with clear face shields. In any aircraft the sun is much brighter than when you are on the ground. I have flown in a couple of fast jets and when you raise you eye protection it is horrifically bright. They didn’t have them in Top Gun and they had clear ones in Maverick. It’s Hollywood and you have to see your movie stars.
In my opinion one of the greatest scenes in Movie History , i can watch it over and over again. I haven’t seen a movie in a long time that immediately hopped into my top 10 favorites. Amazing movie. I thought Maverick was gone. And when i got to this part. I was sold all the way. Great scene and movie.
This has to be the funniest scene I've ever seen from a military movie. The pilot signaled for a follow and Mav proceeds to initiate combat and kills 2 Russian SU-57's....
While there were quite a few inequities in this scene including the rate of fire on the M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon and the fact that he could magically pull basically a maneuver that would destroy the airframe by extending the wings and pulling a high-G climb, this was still one of the coolest scenes ever. I’m a fellow aviation nerd and I saw everything that was right and wrong with this scene, it was still cool as hell.
The 9A1-4071K-M1 gun was created for the SU-57. Its technical indicators are classified. But its predecessor GSh6-23 had a rate of fire of 10,000 rounds per minute.
The F-14 had an unserviceable airframe straight from the factory. It was a lead hog on the best of days. Still, that's no reason to lose your ability to suspend disbelief.
I know it's a movie, but fighter pilots have a plethora of widely-accepted hand signals that they would be able to recognize. The SU pilot signalled "3-3-0 follow" which was probably exactly what it sounds like: "Direction 330, follow me." 3-3-0 is northwest-ish. Probably telling Maverick to return to base because they don't have comms. Movie was awesome but when that part came up I felt like Maverick would've understood right away

I think they purposely made it so that Maverick doesn't know that signal, maybe they took a different approach and wanted us to think it was a signal that pilots aren't really aware of.
It's confusing for me too. How can an experienced pilot like Maverick see common gestures and say, 'I have no idea what he's saying'? How is that even possible?

I started enjoying military stuff when i was 8 years old (I'm now 14) and it was always incredible discovering how things worked and even found out things I never thought it could exist, and even after years understanding many things when the movie came out I didn't knew about the su-57, i thought it was a ''prototype plane'' just to be used in the movie, not that it really existed. It was the last thing that I got amazed to found out that it existed, now I can say that almost everything is possible to reach nowadays.
Just wait for when you learn about some of the more advanced mathematics / natural sciences stuff behind some of these things in uni. That's when things start to get really interesting lol

God they should follow this movie up man, such a badass movie. And follow up with some more amazing stunts like this. Keep it realistic and not CGI all the way. Keep the storyline tight and hang loose on the edge. I honestly watched this movie like 4 times in one day.
In this scene especially, every plane was CGI replaced on top of the jet trainers actually filmed. There are no airworthy F-14 outside Iran, and obviously they couldn't get real SU-57s. Most of the background scenery was either enhanced with CGI or replaced entirely. Cockpit panels for wide shots are CGI too. But true it looks so good because they had real footage; movement and lighting references for the CGI artists.
NO they really shouldn't. They did an outstanding job with this one but the problem with modern cinema is that they have to keep milking the same idea until it sucks. Look what they did to Star Wars. Not saying they shouldn't make more movies about fighter pilots, they should just call it something else and let Top Gun be immortalized with its boots on.

The first kill was fair because Maverick had the element of surprise. The second kill is bs because terrain doesn't confuse targeting systems like that; the Felon would have safely shot missiles from above the canyon until Mav was dead. The third kill is bs because it implies the Felon's radar was completely dead against Hangman and his incoming missile. The most logical thing that Mav could have done in the beginning was slam on his brakes and pummel both Felons with his gun, and then punch the afterburners to get back to the fleet. Tomcat's top speed is mach 2.34 while a Felon is allegedly mach 2, so he could have possibly made it before the third Felon caught up to him. My biggest gripe with this scene is that -upon learning Maverick was flying back in a Tomcat- the Navy didnt send more than one Hornet nor did they send up a Growler to jam enemy radars, but it's still one of the best action scenes in years.
I mean.... you wrote it yourself: the terrain doesnt confuse targeting systems like that. Meaning the F-35 would have been used to begin with and we wouldn`t have a movie lmao. Yes, it is true this movie is not realistic, but you cant really expect that when the most important thing is the cool factor.
@@lifeofmike5126it's a bit difficult when Naval aviation is my career lol. Like when Phoenix got caught in that bird strike, they made a couple of mistakes. First one was her spinning up the Auxiliary Power Unit in air; this isn't possible because the APU requires the weight on wheel switches on the landing gear to be triggered, meaning it can only be done while the jet is on the ground. APU isn't needed while in air because the air getting rammed into the intakes during flight is sufficient for engine ignition. The second mistake is her hitting her fire extinguisher twice; F18EFG have only one fire bottle onboard, meaning only one button push.
This scene reminds me of my first encounter with Yellow Squadron in Ace Combat 4 shattered skies. I said they same thing Mav did about how the Su dodge & fly

Не смешите ихни помидоры. Хоть и было объявлено,что су-57 производится серийно с 2019-го года,но серийного производства этого самолёта фактически нет. Было сообщение,что в конце 2019-го в войска передан первый серийный СрУ-57,который сразу же благополучно грохнулся в том-же 2019-м году во время первого же полёта. Где-то в конце 2020-го сообщили,что Шойгу посетил завод,где собирают второй СрУ-57,который наверно уже и смастерили. I saw Top gun in 1986 when I was 16 years old. But this one is much better, the first one looked very light. I love everything about this one, Tom Cruise's performance, his wrinkles make him a much better touch. I know that for the purposes, they can put a Su 57 and in 1986 they couldn't have a Mig 23 or Mig 29 available. Cruise's look when "Rooster" says: "don't think just do it" is masterful.

One of the most entertaining film in last 15 years!
While there were quite a few inequities in this scene including the rate of fire on the M61 Vulcan 20mm cannon and the fact that he could magically pull basically a maneuver that would destroy the airframe by extending the wings and pulling a high-G climb, this was still one of the coolest scenes ever. I’m a fellow aviation nerd and I saw everything that was right and wrong with this scene, it was still cool as hell.
Come now, an unserviceable airframe and an unflyable airframe are two different things.

I know it's a movie, but fighter pilots have a plethora of widely-accepted hand signals that they would be able to recognize. The SU pilot signalled "3-3-0 follow" which was probably exactly what it sounds like: "Direction 330, follow me." 3-3-0 is northwest-ish. Probably telling Maverick to return to base because they don't have comms. Movie was awesome but when that part came up I felt like Maverick would've understood right away
I think they know what it’s mean! Maverick may know that signal but not sure it is true or not! In that situation, what do you gonna do? Are you gonna fight for your life or follow them to death?

I think they purposely made it so that Maverick doesn't know that signal, maybe they took a different approach and wanted us to think it was a signal that pilots aren't really aware of.
It's confusing for me too. How can an experienced pilot like Maverick see common gestures and say, 'I have no idea what he's saying'? How is that even possible?

I started enjoying military stuff when i was 8 years old (I'm now 14) and it was always incredible discovering how things worked and even found out things I never thought it could exist, and even after years understanding many things when the movie came out I didn't knew about the su-57, i thought it was a ''prototype plane'' just to be used in the movie, not that it really existed.
It was the last thing that I got amazed to found out that it existed, now I can say that almost everything is possible to reach nowadays.

God they should follow this movie up man, such a badass movie. And follow up with some more amazing stunts like this. Keep it realistic and not CGI all the way. Keep the storyline tight and hang loose on the edge. I honestly watched this movie like 4 times in one day.
Pretty much every shot in this has CGI. Don't believe the rhetoric that CGI ruins these types of films.
In this scene especially, every plane was CGI replaced on top of the jet trainers actually filmed. There are no airworthy F-14 outside Iran, and obviously they couldn't get real SU-57s. Most of the background scenery was either enhanced with CGI or replaced entirely. Cockpit panels for wide shots are CGI too. But true it looks so good because they had real footage; movement and lighting references for the CGI artists.
I believe Maverick 2 is in the works. I mean there’s no way they’d let this one sit and gather dust.
NO they really shouldn't. They did an outstanding job with this one but the problem with modern cinema is that they have to keep milking the same idea until it sucks. Look what they did to Star Wars.
Not saying they shouldn't make more movies about fighter pilots, they should just call it something else and let Top Gun be immortalized with its boots on.

The first kill was fair because Maverick had the element of surprise.
The second kill is bs because terrain doesn't confuse targeting systems like that; the Felon would have safely shot missiles from above the canyon until Mav was dead.
The third kill is bs because it implies the Felon's radar was completely dead against Hangman and his incoming missile.
The most logical thing that Mav could have done in the beginning was slam on his brakes and pummel both Felons with his gun, and then punch the afterburners to get back to the fleet. Tomcat's top speed is mach 2.34 while a Felon is allegedly mach 2, so he could have possibly made it before the third Felon caught up to him.
My biggest gripe with this scene is that -upon learning Maverick was flying back in a Tomcat- the Navy didnt send more than one Hornet nor did they send up a Growler to jam enemy radars, but it's still one of the best action scenes in years.
I mean.... you wrote it yourself: the terrain doesnt confuse targeting systems like that. Meaning the F-35 would have been used to begin with and we wouldn`t have a movie lmao. Yes, it is true this movie is not realistic, but you cant really expect that when the most important thing is the cool factor.

Like when Phoenix got caught in that bird strike, they made a couple of mistakes. First one was her spinning up the Auxiliary Power Unit in air; this isn't possible because the APU requires the weight on wheel switches on the landing gear to be triggered, meaning it can only be done while the jet is on the ground. APU isn't needed while in air because the air getting rammed into the intakes during flight is sufficient for engine ignition. The second mistake is her hitting her fire extinguisher twice; F18EFG have only one fire bottle onboard, meaning only one button push.
The two enemies sit in Generation V fighters, but fly as if they were Generation IV fighters. No wonder they fail completely.
This scene reminds me of my first encounter with Yellow Squadron in Ace Combat 4 shattered skies. I said they same thing Mav did about how the Su dodge & fly

С сожалением приходится констатировать,что дурачок это ты потому,что су-57 нет в природе. Нет самолёта пятого поколения су-57. А то,что на рассеюшке называют самолётом пятого поколения су-57,на самом деле таковым не является.
Во первых,на су-57 нет всеракурсного оружия,по БРЭО су-57 даже близко нельзя сравнивать с F-22 и F-35,и самое главное на су-57 нет новых двигателей - старые юзает(которые очень добавляют су-57 заметности) ,и всё это вкупе обеспечивает су-57 ну просто конскую ЭПР,которая гораздо больше чем у F-22 и даже у F-35 ЭПР меньше чем ЭПР су-57 даже не в разы,а на порядки. Я уже не говорю,про то,что эффект прозрачной кабины,который обеспечивает пилотам F-22 и F-35 их электроника,для су-57 - это ненаучная фантастика.
И факт,что любой самолёт считается состоявшимся только тогда,когда налажено его серийное производство.
F-22 американцы сделали 200 штук и выпуск этих самолётов прекращён.
F-35 в США производят почти по 150 самолётов в год и их раскупают как горячие пирожки и общее количество построенных F-35 наверно уже и за тысячу перевалило.
А авиадрандулет су-57 пошёл в серию?

Было сообщение,что в конце 2019-го в войска передан первый серийный СрУ-57,который сразу же благополучно грохнулся в том-же 2019-м году во время первого же полёта. Где-то в конце 2020-го сообщили,что Шойгу посетил завод,где собирают второй СрУ-57,который наверно уже и смастерили.
Так вот то,что авиадрандулет су-57 собирают на коленке с темпом 1 самолёт в год,так это точно не серийное производство,а больше напоминает процесс оттягивания кота за его коки-наки.
Вот потому и разноголосица даже в вопросе: а колько же всего построено су-57?
Если погуглить су-57,то в одном месте будет одна цифра построенных су-57,в другом другая.
В ВИКИ деликатно сказано,что построено на сегодняшний день ДО 15 СУ-57 ВМЕСТЕ С ПРОТОТИПАМИ.
