The umps probably wouldn't be paid as much, or even at all. It's all about money. The same answer could be given for "Why don't they just put power lines underground"?
Umpires if you cant see and cant call the correct balls and strikes you should resign its getting ridiculous how Umpires be changing the balls and strikes on games numerous and multiple times and then blame the players when you're the umpire

I love big strike zones. Widen the plate to 19” and raise the strike zone back up to letters
With all the technology today, why don't they develop an electronic strike zone? The ump can just stand back and collect his check.
