A video on how to deal with the mental part of being a barber would be really dope (long days, bad clients, cuts you don’t feel good about, building clientele, seeing people far ahead of you etc..) Also, a video on how seasons work in a barbershop would be dope and when typical “busy” seasons are and when “slower” seasons are so that newer barbers can figure out when to and how to set aside some money for times where it’s slower
20 years in The game and I still do these tips. Never stop learning guys. Don’t get comfortable. Clients come and GO They move, find a cheaper place, etc….. you gotta keep pushing
...how bout "professionalism" in the shop... ive always thought if we want to be treated as highly skilled professionals, then we present ourselves in a professional way... not by wearing a suit & tie kinda thang, of coarse not, afterall we are "artist" (nuff said) ...but more so ur actions & behaviors, things like givin ur client ur undivided attention, & not cutting hair while talking on the phone, u know, stuff like that ...thatd be a good topic i think... thanx dude
Absolute facts.i can’t get my barbers to do anything on social media.i just don’t have much luck with younger kids now days.if they ain’t cutting they just wanna sit in their chair and play on their phone, but then cry about not being busy all day.when I started I was posting pics constantly on Facebook, passing out flyers at our local college and high school, standing out front waiting for homeless guys to walk by , I would shampoo and cut them for free just for practice.when should you raise cut prices?and how often?
I recommend raising prices when you’re too booked. If you’re 100% full, you go up in order to cut back to 80%. Open room for new clients that pay full price. Then do it again if you hit 100% again.
Love this topic especially on how to approach a potential client but not steal them but let them know what you do and call you if there barber is busy I’ve done that a lot it works thank you
That's a fact, Great Video Sean. Honestly, I've always found my favorite clients - and the style of haircuts I want to cut - genuinely comes from real-life social interactions with people who ask me "what do you do" or "What do you do for work", or "are you a barber" - usually because of my barber tattoos. In Australia, I'm making the same amount of money I make in a barbershop just from cutting my neighbors, friends, and friends of friends - just handing out my phone number. There's a lot of missed opportunities when people are just out and about in normal social situations. Topic: Men's Hairdressing - Is scissor work important?
Man this was dope! I really liked how you broke down, in detail, how Facebook does have advantages over instagram. I never thought of it like that. For next week could you maybe talk about selling styling products? If you do, or do not, sell products in your shop. Why you chose to go that way, and what helped you decide on the brand.
Great content Sean!! Please do a video on the difference between cutting Male verses Female... Some barbers do the same haircuts on both and it can be a disaster!
Topic: “Cuts that are good, but how can you make them great!!!” Or “How to decipher if it’s constructive criticism from fellow barbers, or just them feelin themselves.”
I bought a barber pole chain it starts convo and next thing u know am cutting there hair idk it works more then it don't!!!. Show them your haircuts in your phone don't let them walk away lol I got a topic please explain how important detail work is on a haircut and how to be consistent on both side of head that's my problem now right side always look a little better 🤷♂️
Any tips to grow as a up coming barber that doesn’t work at a shop? I cut in my own studio at home and have a good amount of clientele but not enough to keep me busy all week.
What if the shop only gets 1-3 walkins every 2 days as a new barber would you recommend a shop that has more traffic so it can build up along with bringing in you’re own clientele ?
Im a barber but its hard as i am an apprentice, how can i bring in a clientele when people these days dont trust apprentices even tho i show them my work its hard
I don’t know much about apprenticeships, that’s not allowed here. I’m not big on giving free cuts, BUT if you’re not doing anything anyway a freebie will get someone in your chair. Learning experience and potential to impress them and turn them into a client!
I have a question for topic Tuesday…why don’t barbers show their mistakes on their TH-cam videos. Us barber students I’m sure would like to see their mistakes to because it would help us learn from their mistakes as well even though their licensed.
Yea thats one thing i do, ima mobile barber so i tell them BRING 2 ppl and yo cut free. Then i get real cool wit them and after maybe 5 cuts i surprise them wit a “since u loyal bro, $10 off” if i worked in a shop, ik for a FACT, one thing that would make them talk about u all day after that cut is if u spray some cologne on them after u spray’em wit alcohol lol
If this helped hit that 👍🏻 Drop a topic for next week!
Can you do a tip video for new barbers who are new into a shop and tips they should know 👍

Can you talk about having consistency and being patient in this journey next time? Because I find it hard being consistent with my fades in specific
U dont need the freshest fade to be a good barber. Some clients just want sanitation, punctuality and availability
Good information Sean i greatly appreciate the gems 💎
You’re welcome!

I did just that. At 40. My buddy I went to school with was in his 50s. Never too late. 🤘🏼

Definitely need a high traffic shop if you don’t feel you can bring your own clients at first
Bro I seen the barber bag review you should get with tomb45 and y'all make one since y'all have so many products!

Facts im an apprentice at a barbershop rn and I’m not allowed to take walk ins
Hey Sean any tips on clients that don’t wanna talk. No matter what I say. I got a few regulars but they just be quiet kinda akward lol
That’s a tough one. Some people enjoy the quiet 30 minutes of peace. If I get that vibe I just let them enjoy it and do my thing.
