Wireless charging is dumb. It's slower charging and heats up the phone therefore degrading the battery faster, you can't use the phone while charging, and all for a miniscule improvement in convenience

Just cancelled my OP9 order and got an 8T instead. I do prefer the colours of the OP9 image processing and I would like to try having a device with wireless charging, but the 8T is, for its price, perfect.

In America, only the 12/256 version (749$/699€) is available.
But in Europe, also the 8/128 version (649$/599€) is available. So for Europeans, this phone is significantly lower price than OP 8/8 Pro or even Samsung S20 FE.
So in Europe, OP 8T is NOT an awkward middle child.
I can highly recommend buying OP 8T if you "only" want good photos and you don't care about wireless charging and you live in Europe (or India, Asia etc)
@@senseijulion agreed! Now I have my OP 8T and I am over the moon happy with the package (amazing SW, performance, camera), AND the camera is amazing too! The camera is also super fun with having a macro and monochrome option. Only thing I would like to have, is wireless charging, but I can live without it (for 550 euros, VERY acceptable). Btw I am not facing any of the issues people are complaining about, no overheating, no screen flickering or green tint.

Honestly, the "Awkward middle child" is all most people need. It's got fantastic specs for the price. This for sure is going to be a growing market. Not many people want to pay 1000+ for a phone.
I had a Samsung s10e, but wanted a bigger phone. I bought the one plus 8t for 500 yesterday. Been great so far, I was going to go for the s21 but then I saw this thing
@@Maledis87 My husband and I have had ours for over a year! Still running very smooth, battery is still great. Honestly, besides a bit of lag due to storage being pretty full, we haven't noticed any major annoyances! You will love yours! 🙏

It's a highly overrated feature. Definitely not necessary since wired chargers charge a LOT faster. I've tried wireless charging and it was very slow and has no benefits really. I'd take my wired 33W charger any day of the week over a slow wireless charger.

Yep, I didn't use wireless charging a few years ago but now I do since my accessories (earbuds, watch) can charge wirelessly. But I can totally live without it.

Just so y'all know, the top "second flash" is actually a flicker sensor (designed to allow better photos of screens like TVs or monitors), so it won't flash when you take a picture
Had mine for a year and never thought about it but it is much better at taking pictures of a screen than my last phone. Thanks for the info.
Too much focus on the camera; zero mention about the performance and processor speed (Snapdragon 865) vs. its peers.

For example, instead of the high performance Snapdragon 8 series the Pixel 5 use the 765G, which opens them up to competition from a wide range of Mediatek enabled phones.
An absolutely amazing phone. My only gripe with it so far has been the lack of the option to manually set the time for the battery optimization feature (or maybe there is, but it's been awkwardly tucked away somewhere I've been too lazy to look for). The camera is great, though it doesn't really matter when you're uploading pictures to Facebook. As for the charger - I took a 2-cig smoke break a few days ago when my phone was at 15%, left it to charge, came back, and it was at 61%. It's just phenomenal, I love it.

I got this phone a few days ago at Tmobile. I looked at the iphone 12Pro and a couple others that cost more. I think this phone is pretty sleek for the price and does everything pretty good. The OS just updated too. The battery, display, speed and sleek look are what sells me on it. The lack of wireless charging doesn't matter to me on this phone, although it would be more cool.

The things no one talks about on the OnePlus: Smart view or screen sharing is terrible, battery charging is the best but battery life is not and I've also noticed on the 3 OnePlus 8T I've dealt with was that they all lose signal and have delayed messaging when going from wifi to 5G or vise versa! Hope this helps someone since this is what kills the phone for me!

There isn't actually a dual flash on the 8T. The top circular hole that you see is actually a flicker sensor, it also is used as an ambient light sensor.

With warp charge you get faster charging and slow degradation because the power block technology dissipates heat before it hits the phone. My 7T keeps relatively cool during charging.

Since the phone turned 3,5 years old the battery has become so bad I have to charge multiple times a day, fast charging does hurt a battery more I believe.

Iam actually a bit confused by this review. U talk a long time abt the battery, and then the only reason u dislike it is the wireless charging. In Germany the 128gig version cost 599€, that's 100€ cheaper then the s20 fe 5g 128gig. The battery and then fast charging is absolutely insane. I don't need wireless charging when I can plug my phone in while showering and it gets to 50% battery (from 5%). Really don't get the wireless charging talk. Yeah would have been cool, but definitely not nessecary with the warp charge. The only weakish thing would be the cameras. I checked out a lot of phones in the 500-600€ range and this one by far seems like the best overall. Yes there some xiaomi in this price range, but I dislike their software and the phones have the tendency to break kinda fast. I think if the price for the 8t drops by 50-100€ is absolute killer. The s20 might be better but it's also 100€ more expensive

In Europe the 5g version comes with the snapdragon, but is actually 100€ more expensive. The non 5g exynos version cost around 600 and the 5g snapdragon version 730,smt 700.

I don’t know about the last oneplus smartphones but i’m still using my oneplus 3 and it’s just starting to struggle and the batterie drop faster but i’m a pretty huge user so nothing abnormal.
Kind of disappointing that "middle tier" is up to $750.

This review and a few others sold me on the Tmobile high spec version of this phone. 50% off 749.99 after making a switch from ATT was so worth it especially with 5G. Coming from a Samsung S7, this was a huge leap for me and I love it!

@Anthony Mendenhall ye you got a fair point but even then you can usually just place it a bit more careful than before and avoid touching it while charging and you wont have much problems. If its completely dead on the other hand then you fucked til you get a new phone or repair your current one.

Marques, in my reviewing of the OnePlus line there is talk that they will not be doing 8T Pro or any T Pro variant in the future. I don't know if this is 100% true but I heard it in another review... I believe it was Android Authority. But as far as your review I think it is one of the better ones I have seen so far. I am trying to figure out which phone to upgrade to from my Note 8 and it has been a bit of a hassle figuring which way to go.

Where exactly does Mr-boss said that in the video? I just want to know since this exact 'joke' been CP all over the comment section, and I've already watched his video where he complimented google's camera software.

Just purchased my 3rd OnePlus device! Started out with 6T, then got the 7T and now waiting for 8T to arrive! There's a price cut from $749 to $499. Great review Marques!
Jesus, just jump every 3 generations instead. I had the Nexus 5, OnePlus 3T and 6T. Buy them used, 2 or 3 generations back. Best value for the money in every age.
@@filleswe91 Thanks for the suggestion. The way it works for me is by selling the current one, then I get at least half of what I paid for it and use it towards the new one. That way I keep up with the current T models.
@@Jonabaldi Yeah that works too, I just don't have the money to buy things new, and IPS/watt-wise) (performance) per generation is marginal. If you update every 3 years on average, you effectively double the speed you get, also you don't get nearly as addicted to buying everything new. 👌
Damn, you upgrade way to often. You missed all the good ones too. OP1, OP2, OP7 Pro, 7T Pro and the last good Oneplus (8 Pro). Shame.
Now it comes around $350... Do you think it's worth the buy considering it is also 2022 now?
I have one of these and the warp charge by far is my favorite feature, I no longer feel like charging my phone is a hassle and for the price I think its a really good phone, camera wise its just ok, not amazing but if I want AMAZING pictures I'll buy a Nikon camera but maybe I'm just a boomer :))
