    Depend have to have background of the bike. Some riders takes more care of the bikes than others and a ex Paris Roubaix bike is not the same thing as a mountain stages bikes. As a ex Graipel bikes is not the same thing as one used by Alaphilippe...

    Absolutely yes - apart from the slammed position. My hi-mod carbon bike has 25,000 miles + on it / several continents / used and not overly loved. Currently being repainted but when taking it apart it was still mint. Nothing wrong with the frame anywhere. One season with a pro is like just being run in....!!!

    Has Stan DeWulfs name on it, Campag eps 11, super record everything.
    I took it on Zonda clincher wheels as I didn’t want Ultra bora tubulars.
    They Put a shorter stem on it and new chian rings, battery/charger etc & changed brake levers to British set up.
    love it!
    £3500 delivered to my door.

    Have done done 3800 miles on it since April with no issues.

    40 years ago, my everyday bike started its life as somebody's velodrome bike. I got it when it was about 18 years old, modernized the wheels, gears and pretty much everything else and it's still doing a great job. The steel frame is a bit heavy, but it's also very sturdy, so it's survived more than a few bumps that would have killed an aluminium bike.

    I trained and raced in the early 90's with two juniors that were on the old Chevrolet LA Sheriffs develpment team. One at Steve Hegg's old Litespeed Ulitimate and the other had Malcolm Elliott's Litespeed Ultimate. The bike came with Sunspeed groupos which were a copy of Camagnolo Ergo shifters. Still my favorite bike of my life time

  • @paulthorpe766

    Bought Malcolm Elliott's Opera 2010 super record (his last team before retiring) - £10,000 new for just £3750....few small chips on frame and scuffs on levers and rear mech and c/set and Corima rims that's all, other than that fabulous (and you get the special colour orange instead of red of the one off team bike)!

  • @robbchastain3036
    @robbchastain3036 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    O absolutely I would buy a used pro bike, especially from a favorite team or rider. And used can be the difference between having a high-performance bike and not. And sometimes, you just have to make it happen. And I am forever thankful that I did that in '78 when I was a young radio announcer in Canton, Ohio--WINW and WOOS. I would be gone at the end of the year--that was radio, that was the game--but there was a great riding area called the Pits, an old mining site, in the corner of town and I rode there a lot on two race-campaigned 125cc Honda Elsinores which I had purchased at great prices from a gent who had souped them up for his sons who were local motocross hotshots. And those used yet high-performance dirt bikes were all the difference for me. Without that deal, I likely would not have made the plunge as no way could I have afforded new back then--and certainly not new with better after-market parts like FMF pipes and DG swingarms.

    It's not just race teams that sale bikes. When I was at a major parts and wheel maker the bikes that had been built up for trade shows, videos, demos and photo shoots would be sold every year to two. The brand of bike varied. Cervelo, Bianchi, GT, Giant, Sage, Orbea and others. Sometimes they were one off special colors. Sometimes they would be broken down and sold as frames only so parts could be further tested or donated to youth teams. Employees get first pick. Most years any left overs were sold at a local bike swap meet. The sales, marketing and warranty staff would sometimes offer the bikes for sale to bike shops they worked with for store employees or shop floor sales. The bikes can sale for $1,000 to $3,000 off list depending what it is. You just have to be at the right place or email at the right time to get the deal.

  • @joeottsoulbikes415
    @joeottsoulbikes415 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Oh...Olie...it is true that the Vision stock wheels come with dark grey stickers. Sometimes the warranty, marketing or sales staff will have white, blue, red, green or other stickers they give to team riders, bike shop employees or TV/TH-cam host to make the bike special. I sent Moss Paul those one off set of stickers for his wheels when I worked at FSA for his special build in relation to a separate project we worked on.

I think there are many people out there who are willing to pay for such a bike even if it got heavy use. Doing a relaxed Sunday afternoon ride on a bike that made it through the hell of Paris Roubaix is something very special.

    I bought an ex movistar canyon Aeroad. Lovely bike, but when Canyon say they ‘thoroughly’ check the bikes before sending them out, hmm not my experience. It arrived filthy, chunk of paint came off as it hadn’t been packed propely(they said go and get some paint from a model shop) and when I came to ride it, it slipped under load. Turned out I needed a nee chain and cassette, as I was Super Record that was a total of £500!! So I wasn’t happy, Although now my bike is sorted it’s a beauty!! So be cautious

    My friend is fairly convinced that he got a Festina team bike (the year before they had their truck broken into and a bunch of bikes stolen) off of ebay a long time ago. So be careful if you're looking in the secondary market.

    I have, a 1986 Team 7-11 bike.
    Murray/ Campagnolo sponsored, Serotta built. I don’t ride it due to its historical value.

    Cycling bottle 1, Si-cling cap 0 😜✌🏼. It might take aero bikes to beat the Si-borg on his Triathlon bike. Does it mean he’s part of GTN now? 😜✌🏼

    #askgcn How much wear can you have in the brake track of carbon clincher rims before they're ready for replacement?[per side] 0.5mm(.020")? 1mm(.040")? Thank you.

    What’s the beat road bike under $3000?

  • @DavosPessos

    Dont think I would tbh if i did it would may be for display purposes as i dont think i would get a fit to what I'm comfortable with i.e. stem tube length and or maybe frame size too. After learning from building my two road bikes once you dial in the right measurements and that bike is sweet jump on anythinc else and you will know it ( back/leg/neck/ elbow ) pains lol and then you gonna have to modify it to worn for you!!
