Here I am and I held up my end of the bargain. I actually haven't been able to bring myself to watch the live version of this since losing my best friend, Jj, in December. I'm glad I watched it for the first time with your reactions because I went from sobbing to laughing to sobbing to laughing again.
Chinchillas voice is so hauntingly beautiful. Their chemistry together us absolutely out of this world. I'll be here watching your Ren reactions now just so I can here "Oh fuck off". Thank you for this challenge. Thank you for doing the live version as well. I didn't think I could possibly love this song anymore.
Also, relating aspects to ADHD, I didn't think about it that way as well. I was diagnosed at 5 and then again as an adult. Like fuck, I felt that as well.
The dead bodies of thoughts... trying to avoid the thoughts of what I could of done, what I didn't do different.
I don't think I have to relate too much more to how this song speaks to every feeling and emotion I've had since Dec. 10th.
The last line though...
It was a quick decision made on in the middle of the night for Jj. I had just talked to her that day and we were talking about the next semester and her interview. Her mom talked to her 15 minutes before as well.
Anyways 😂😂😂 Thank you for this. I needed those tears and the laughter.... and I especially needed the live version of this.

I first saw this a few days after my brother overdosed in the middle of the night. Watching again with your breakdown has helped me acknowledge how dramatically different things have really been for me since then. It’s been almost a year, and I’m still struggling to breathe, and more than ever, I do not know how to be myself. Thank you Mark for sharing about the movement needed, the fight or flight to make change to break out of our stagnancy. I needed this today.❤️🩹

Chinchilla is the alter ego of Daisy Bertenshaw. She comes by her intensity honestly; her father is an actor and I believe her mother was an actress but is also a director.
This is probably my favorite from ren and chinchilla. It resonates so deeply, everyone has forgotten how to be themselves at one point or another 💜💜
When I hear this song - one of my very favorite Ren songs - I think about the feeling of being lost, adrift, crushed internally from grief and loss. Not feeling like yourself because you’re absorbed by pain, by the memories and experiences you can’t get away from, and altogether they make you feel like you’re not you. Maybe everything was fine and good, then suddenly something so wrenching and painful happens that your prior life doesn’t fit. Nothing seems to fit, and it’s baffling because you desperately want to go back to the time before it all changed. You want to be who you were, and it’s terrifying knowing you can’t get there anymore. Wondering if the grief will always cloud who you are.
Or at least, that’s what this song means to me. Having been through a life-changing, gut-wrenching experience I know I am not who I was. I felt unable to be me for years. Even now, I’m a different me. This song hits my soul.

There is a wonderful Chinchilla interview with Chris Liepe that is really good for anyone wanting to learn more about her.
She’s so warm and self effacing and jovial even discussing her past pains, in a way. She’s massively full of energy and creativity and knows 100% how to own an entire comprehensive performing image and catalog just like Ren. She also shares the sense of her songs being very personal but also intended to be inspiring in their catharsis, a little bit healing even. She has a message and it’s positive, just like his. Produces her stuff like he does. One thing that he’s not is a milliner, she makes her own hats! Total package.

Thanks for the love you give. ❤❤ Personally I love Ren's vocals. There's a richness and texture to his voice that's dynamic and emotive. What's sonically pleasing to one person can be different to another. I do think his vocal ability is underrated particularly when he collabs with talented artists that he chooses to work with like Ruby, Chinchilla and Sam. He never tries to outshine anyone. I respect that about him.

I told you in some previous comment, that you have what it takes to match the layers in his lyrics. This your reaction is a good example, you get the layers. And I enjoy. I too think that his lyrics always contains more than just one thing, to my ears he integrates in one song several aspects, for example from one image of a feeling to the condition of the planet and many things between those.
