I saw Elton in Vegas about 3 weeks ago with my father and some other family. We lost his mother (my grandma) and his wife (my stepmother) over the past couple of years. I've never held my father's hand but we did and cried 99% of the song. One of the most powerful and emotional moments of my life. Such a beautiful song.

I got to see Elton John play at Ischgl, Austria about 10 or 15 years ago. But this was no ordinary concert. Ischgl is a ski resort (part of the ski area is in Switzerland). He and his band played up on the mountain, in the middle of the ski area. They started with 'Funeral for a Friend (Love lies bleeding) which could not have been more perfect. The next 6 songs were exactly what I wanted to hear, so after that, I went skiing above the concert area. It was simply magic to be able to hear most of the rest of the concert from above with only a handful of skiers. Thank you Elton John for probably my favorite concert experience.....
His songs were a soundtrack for my high school years. And forty some years later he's still rocking. Awesome. Edit: Okay, Stephen's two-second rendition of each song was also awesome.

When Elton was hot in the mid 70s all you heard was his singles on the radio. It was always a shock to hear that there were so many amazing album tracks that they never played on the radio. Imagine hearing Funeral for a Friend /Love Lies Bleeding or the song Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy and realizing they were better than the singles from the albums.
Just finished the audiobook Me his autobiography, it was excellent, not at all what I expected from a biography. I laughed and admittedly shed some tears over the Diana chapter, but most all I have profound respect for him as a person after hearing his story. For those that read the stories about him trashing people, that's not really case at all you have to hear the context not just a line here and there.
Got to see Elton in concert a few weeks ago for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and about a year ago on another tour. So happy I got to see him live, both concerts were amazing and a lot of it was just great rock and roll. Would be awesome to meet him in real life.
Elton John has done SO much music. I think quite few even heard it all. "Wonderful Crazy Night" which is his latest record is acutally fun and well-produced! It doesn't really compare in songwriting to his early 70's but I enjoy the record now and again!
It took years for me to realize/find out that the person who sings my favorite song (Can you feel the love tonight) was him. I immediately became a fan of his. God, I must have rewinded that VHS tape a hundred times to listen to that song in the credits of The Lion King. What a talent and career this guy has. One word: legend.

Just finished the audiobook Me his autobiography, it was excellent, not at all what I expected from a biography. I laughed and admittedly shed some tears over the Diana chapter, but most all I have profound respect for him as a person after hearing his story.
For those that read the stories about him trashing people, that's not really case at all you have to hear the context not just a line here and there.

I’m a huge Elton John fan and I love Stephen Colbert’s show.
Got to see Elton in concert a few weeks ago for his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour and about a year ago on another tour. So happy I got to see him live, both concerts were amazing and a lot of it was just great rock and roll. Would be awesome to meet him in real life.
I wish such interviews were longer!

Elton John has done SO much music. I think quite few even heard it all. "Wonderful Crazy Night" which is his latest record is acutally fun and well-produced! It doesn't really compare in songwriting to his early 70's but I enjoy the record now and again!
It took years for me to realize/find out that the person who sings my favorite song (Can you feel the love tonight) was him. I immediately became a fan of his.
God, I must have rewinded that VHS tape a hundred times to listen to that song in the credits of The Lion King. What a talent and career this guy has. One word: legend.

I not only remember all the titles of Elton John's albums, I bought them all as they were released. I was 12 when I started and I bought the last one at age 60. I've only been disappointed 3 times.

Caribou had a lot of shit on it. By Elton’s own admission. That godawful solar prestige a gamon thing, that was written as a deliberate “bad song” to confuse the critics.
The Fonz I’m a huge fan and I agree, but Pinky and Ticking are in my top 20 EJ songs. Grimsby and Dixie Lily are fun, plus the two big hits...rest I could do without.

@3:43 actually, yes. "Scarecrow", "A Dandelion Dies In The Wind" and others were in that stack of lyrics, and they became songs. Some of those first songs ended up on the now released Regimental Sgt. Zippo album.

Worked for an airline and a woman who escorted you around, and your then manager I took to the plane. Ive seen you many times in concert. I can identify with you regarding your mother. Wish I could write and know you would be reading the letter. I missed seeing you here in NY because I just had surgery :( Wish you would come back to perform here. Reading your book, saw the movie. My heart poured out for you. I have ability to sing, and am very funny, but feel I will never become famous. I do have that spark though. The spark that lights me up when I sing and am naturally funny. So happy for you that what you love doing happened, and that you have a loving family now. Bernie sounds like an incredibly awesome man and talent. I wonder would he have liked more recognition publicly? Hoping somehow I can see you perform again sometime. Wishing you peace and thanks for all you do for AIDS Foundation!
