Ahhhh the venerable PBF. This thing gave me the fits back when it first came out on SPADworld but even more so when Dave McDonald was flying them and posting videos. He still does. Electric versions are popular too. The world has really changed, 3D flying of model aircraft, what used to be a solid IC hobby really has a good strong electric following. I haven't made it too many events in the last 7 years but man do a lot of people treat their airplanes like helicopters. At least the planes are prettier. Anyways, someone looking to learn to fly would see Dave hovering his PBF, He'd catch it, throw it, trim trees with it, I think he could fry chicken and fly the thing at the same time. They'd find links to the SPAD homepage and forums and tell us they finally found the plane to learn on, and of course it's not. Your's is an early version of the PBF with a fuse and wheels. That's fine, Tattoo I think made the first one like this and called it the Ciggy flyer as he used a Camel add. I don't remember if he was copying a foam flyer off RCG or SPADworld forums, but pretty soon the square thing with a wood backbone Dave flys was the standard. Take off and fly in High Alpha for level flight. Yes you can nose it over and fly it like a regular plane to a point but that flat wing doesn't like to go fast. Once you get the hang of it the thing will do flat spins, and hover against the wind and flop around really well. If you get the hang of it and have a hankering for more, look up the MCDDD flyer, it's Daves slightly larger design Or the SPA3D off the SPAD free plans homepage. or just follow the PBF plans for the ultimate flying piece of coroplast, no landing gear on that one. Buy LOTS of props, you'll make your local supplier very happy. They are a blast and a good workout. If you like doing touch n go's, you've got the right plane. But don't let Tim fly it like he did. It's not a plane, it's a hovering device.
Can't wait for the test crash mate! Good to see Bruce plugging your channel, hope you get your viewing hours up soon. You're a good sport mate, keep it up.
I can't see that wooden prop lasting past the first takeoff attempt/flip/roll/nose over/ground loop/retakeoff, but, maybe a fair amount of expo may increase the life of the prop.
Good news about the hours Ron. If you are doing it anyway you may as well get paid for it, if only to keep you in Bin Bags ;-) P.S. When we going to see the "Moth" maiden?
Can you get it to deliver pizza?!? They make political signs from this same stuff, so after elections are over there should be plenty of free signs available. I saw a guy build a camping trailer from coreflute political signs that was light enough he could pull it behind his bicycle.

You might want to 'streamline' the leading edge of that wing, Ron! Thanks, and congratulations on defeating some of Google's greed.
I am eager to see it flying.
