whenever I see 2018 I always think, "oh, two years ago!" in my head. it feels like I'm perpetually stuck in 2020, probably because of the insanity of COVID. it's hard for me to accept that in reality it's been four years. I graduated high school and am in my second semester of college and it still doesn't feel real. 😭😭
@@vals5085 me too, the pandemic messed us all up. it gets harder and harder every day for me to accept that I’m getting older and things will never go back to the way they used to be. SAMEEE SAMEEE omg:( and because i graduated it feels like I should move on from kpop and “grow up” ESPECIALLY when the new kpop groups are all 04’s or younger..
As a kpop stan since 2016, I must say..... 2018 was the golden year for NCT and for all underrated groups to shine. :] Imma miss JBJ they were my favorite.
The fact that Pentagon is still unerrated... and they had their first win in November with Daisy... LET'S GO they deserve their second win in the next comeback !!!!
The fact shine is the most viewed song from CUBE(im not sure if it still is but it was the most viewed for 2 years i think) but didn't win in any award shows
The most nostalgic: last year before kpop went super global with toxic fans coming into each fandom and idols had to react with poker faces at award shows
ngl internation fans have actually helped out the kpop fandom out a lot, nostalgia sugar coats everything back in 2018 we used to fight even if 2 songs even had the same beat and fans were toxic af and they always looked down on multistans and you had to choose 'sides' between the EBS groups and so much drama. the songs released were still top notch lmao
This was the beginning everything started to change. Remember being welcomed into all fandoms no matter who I stanned. Now, it's a war between who had to most streams and awards, it's basically not about enjoying the music anymore, I mean without getting attacked for giving an opinion. Why:c Edit: I think I should reword this a bit lmao. Of course there were fanwars in the past, and there always will be even if it's kpop or not. But like these days it just feels more intense and too much, especially when the streaming practice came in. It became a contest.
RIGHT. I’m so sick of the fan wars. And people gate keeping who comes into fandoms. I just saw a tweet where someone was like “you aren’t allowed to call yourself an army unless you live, breathe and would die for BTS. You have to know every single thing about their personal lives, every song, otherwise you are not and never will be an army” maybe I’m alone on this but I just thought it sounded insane. I wish we could just enjoy the dang music and connect with each other and have fun.
@@NessaH as an army that's bullshit. There's absolutely no reason to have to know EACH and EVERY thing about their lives. That just sounds like a sasaeng.
It's almost surreal. Back in 2018, though I did listen to most of the songs on this list, I was also also a delusional ARMY who thought she had a chance with Jungkook (to be fair, there were quite many out there). Now, I don't exactly "stan" groups anymore and am detached from the swath of fancammers and streamers. I just wanna enjoy the music and imagine things the songs remind me of. And adapt other bands into girl groups.
@@bangtansonyeondan6778 Glad to see I’m not the only one who thought that. It had a lot of likes so I wasn’t sure. I just can’t believe how ridiculous some people in the fandoms have become.
2016-2018 are my favorite kpop era. The songs were impeccably good and the nostalgia. I remember singing them whenever I take a bath and now this video takes me back
same! also there were not that much ppl as one so there were much less(?) toxicity back then and we could enjoy songs and groups only without those fans i mean they were always here but after 2018 they are too too much i miss 2016-18 :(
@@jendeucorn3858 yes... Now a few of the fandoms are just toxicity.. I miss those times where "fan wars" aren't a big thing and we just supports every idol equally. Those happy times when they were just reaching their goals and almost all groups receives different awards, I miss it!
This made me realize that western songs are almost completely cut out or that it became less important to me after i fully discovered k pop i was introduced in 2018 but i only listened to bts, in mid 2019-2020 I've seen the rest that k pop has to offer.
The last best year for K-pop, tbh cuz even tho there's quite a bit of songs I liked from 2019-2021, literally every song in 2018 was so good like idk what was in the water that year, but I wish we can bring it back lmao
I literally burst into tears the second that the video started. Those were THE times. When no unneccessary drama would happen everyday. When kpop felt like more like kpop than ever. When no fans were rly getting into fights we were just kind to each other. It was the golden year of kpop
I got into kpop in 2018 and DAMN the nostalgia Especially because so many of these songs got me into the respective group Edit: In fact, I forgot to mention, I got into kpop exactly three years ago today. Guess it's fate that Seventeen became my ult group, since they also have their anniversary on the 26th of May aka today.
God, I've actually been phasing out of kpop because of all the scandals, negativity, and well just growing as a person and this made me cry. I mean I think it's natural to grow out of things, but god I'm so scared that after I'm done with it completely I won't be able to stay up on my own. I'm scared that it was too big of a part in my life, and me losing it will be losing myself. I'm just scared, and kinda alone so yeah... I mean thanks for the anxiety attack and nostalgia I guess 😂
I grew out of K-pop. I don't know how to describe it now but I only listen to the music and I'm not emotionally invested it. It actually is much better as I don't care about fanwars, who's on top and no longer obsessed with my faves. I listen to any group that has good music. Also, if I didn't get TH-cam recommendations, I wouldn't even be here. For example, I haven't listened to a BTS song since Fake Love.
I mean hey! Dont forget you can just listen to the music without being in the fandoms and dealing with the negativity. I did that recently lol. Deleted social media and now i reverted to my youtube stan days of watching performances and videos like this. Plenty of fun. All i listen to is kpop lol i cant live without it honestly
The fact that many idols here had THERE best/popular/sucessful songs all in 2018 and 2018 also had some of the most popular kpop songs (Ex. Ddu du ddu du,bboom bboom,hi high, what is love, love shot, idol) Yeah you get it
2016-2018 are just iconic years for kpop. i mean, the other years were also good but the diversity of concepts and sounds is insane for these years! 2018, especially.
it’s sucks because i loved triple h’s concept but people can’t handle that their idols have real lives. i’ll always wonder what their third comeback and the rest of their second would’ve been like
Idk why I feel nostalgic when it only happened in 3 years ago. It's like I can't relieve those memories enjoying 2018 anymore. I can't find that song I enjoy in 2019-2021, only those I stan. When I love the kpop back then, 2018 kpop makes me love kpop the most.
Agree or disagree, what is love is one of the most iconic songs ever. Atleast for me. I knew it before getting into kpop and this song along with love scenario made me stan kpop.
i knew dtna, fake love, idol amd d4 (i only actually listened and loved dtna and d4 but i knew bts and hates them then) in 2018 and became a kpop stan in 2019
I still can't believe these songs are 3 years old! I still remember me listening to them back then...2018 really was a year where some of the best songs came out and the kpop community was much healthier

my personal fave was shoot out by Mx and I still have it as my ringtone and alarm tone to this day haha
No air was also a top fave 🤙
Yes it was a vibe year. After 2020, everything is a competition. But its getting better this month. Many cool comebacks
agree
I didn’t realise how much i enjoyed kpop until this video…i still listen to kpop nowadays, but it’s more like I’m forcing myself to like the music rather than just genuinely liking the songs
True
Relatable sadly🥲

I agree tbh, it's not the same anymore

RIGHT LIKE ALL OF THE SONGS ARE BOPS
What's so iconic about 2018 was noone were following any trends, every group were just doing their own thing and I loved it so much.
As someone who just graduated hs and got into kpop freshman year, this is making me so sad and nostalgic. I feel so old 😭
Me toooo omg 😭😭😭😭
whenever I see 2018 I always think, "oh, two years ago!" in my head. it feels like I'm perpetually stuck in 2020, probably because of the insanity of COVID. it's hard for me to accept that in reality it's been four years. I graduated high school and am in my second semester of college and it still doesn't feel real. 😭😭
@@vals5085 me too, the pandemic messed us all up. it gets harder and harder every day for me to accept that I’m getting older and things will never go back to the way they used to be. I feel like so much of my youth was wasted and bc of this I think of 2018-19 as the best years of my life. I find myself not even listening to new music anymore; I only listen to music from those times. It’s really sad :(
@@alanis2529 sorry it’s been so hard for you :( :( tbh, I think it will be really interesting (and frightening) to see the long-term effects of the pandemic in the future. for such a large-scale thing to happen to an entire generation....it messed a lot of people up. I too miss the nostalgia of high school and my “youth” even though it wasn’t really all that great and I’m not even old, lol. but there’s still so much time and better days to come. recently I’ve found myself turning to music again for comfort so I hope that you’re able to regain some of your love for music back!! wishing you the best 💕
SAMEEE SAMEEE omg:( and because i graduated it feels like I should move on from kpop and “grow up” ESPECIALLY when the new kpop groups are all 04’s or younger..
It’s weird how some of these songs feel so old and others feel like they just came out. 2018 was great year for songs in Kpop.
I REFFUSE TO BELIVE THAT ALL THESE SONGS CAME OUT IN IN THE SAME YEAR

@@06.bayuriskipriyambodo14 exactly....I'm happy kpop is global now but then they could easily show their friendships on cam....

ngl internation fans have actually helped out the kpop fandom out a lot, nostalgia sugar coats everything back in 2018 we used to fight even if 2 songs even had the same beat and fans were toxic af and they always looked down on multistans and you had to choose 'sides' between the EBS groups and so much drama. the songs released were still top notch lmao
@@ridakhan814 that too. Everything has pros and cons😌❤
2018 was THE revolution.
💯 agreed
Nostalgia hit me hard when my pace started playing
Ikr
This was the beginning everything started to change. Remember being welcomed into all fandoms no matter who I stanned. Now, it's a war between who had to most streams and awards, it's basically not about enjoying the music anymore, I mean without getting attacked for giving an opinion. Why:c
Edit: I think I should reword this a bit lmao.
And fan only look on the views and awards of the song, not the lyrics, producer, composer and lyricist
Seeing Wanna One made me feel so nostalgic that I'm about to cry and I didn't even stanned them

I mean thanks for the anxiety attack and nostalgia I guess 😂
i really thought i grew out of it after months of not listening, but then nct dream hot sauce attacked 🧍♀️
For example, I haven't listened to a BTS song since Fake Love.
ugh seriously, everything is just too much for me I can't keep up
I mean hey! Dont forget you can just listen to the music without being in the fandoms and dealing with the negativity. I did that recently lol.
