    It amazes me that Metra being so unique that it has most of its engines at notch 8 all the time, especially when idling.

      @@Amtrak160HeritageUnit That's why I love their passenger rail engines because they're different than any other commuter rail system. If NJ Transit here had their remaining GP40-2s at notch 8 like that, I would have the biggest smile on my face

      @@Amtrak160HeritageUnit Only the flared GP40-2s that are similar in loudness. The other more modern engines are quieter, especially those dual mode ( electric - diesel) engines that run on both catenary wire routes and diesel routes
