I saw in an interview with the actress playing Karen that the reason Karen wears the Xmas jumper is because she hates celebrating Halloween because of how Laurie would act when it would be that time of the year so she wears Xmas jumpers instead.
When Allyson's walking to school with Vicky and Dave Vicky even says "If I was you I wouldn't celebrate either. I'd just put up a Christmas tree. Skip all over the creepy Halloween shit."
Agree 100% on Darren's worst moment. When that scene happened, my hands went to the armrests and I was ready to get up and walkout (i had already made the mistake earlier in the year by not walking out of Alien: Covenant) but then Michael took his mask back and squashed the dudes head so I then was good. 😄
Was it me or did he look like a Michael Myers bobble head? His head grew and looked huge with that mask on? Just like the kid in rob zombie's movie. The head was enormous!
Best moment for me (that isn't the tracking shot!) is definitely when Laurie is going through the house looking for Michael. The dead silence of it, and how dark it is, really made it insanely tense for me. Similar with the Oscar kill sequence, the lights on, lights off with Michael getting closer. Also a really effective scare!
Darren, as one of your American viewers, I’ll tell you my two reasons why I don’t like the “peanut butter on my penis” line: 1. It sounds weird to say “penis” in that context. A more normal line would’ve been “I got peanut butter on my dick.” There’s just something about that usage of “penis” that sounds weird to me.” 2. It makes it sound like his dick is exposed! Lol, I think the best word to use would’ve been “crotch.” Since you were elated when Sartain died, maybe that was the director’s plan. To make the audience so stunned and annoyed with Sartain that when he dies you’ll feel a sense of relief and euphoria. If so, that’s pretty manipulative! I completely agree about The Shape Hunts Allyson. Both the scene and the music were too short. Missed opportunity to show Myers going after her and making it really suspenseful. Instead it was over in about 45 seconds. And the track on the soundtrack is about the same length. It would’ve been nice if the soundtrack had a longer version of that theme. Excellent job on the podcast, I really enjoyed it. I wonder if Karen's character change from whining and complaining about her mother Lori to standing up to Michael and shooting him, was by design from the writers. To give the viewer shock value to her character.
21:00 I think the point of Karen's line is to show how hard she's trying to move on from her childhood of Laurie training her up to fight Michael but not giving her a normal life and Laurie's parenting eventually making her lose custody and Karen to go into foster care. She was trying to have as normal a life as possible. Michael coming back, Karen hearing about all the murders and not being able to phone Allyson makes her realise how serious the situation is.
Great insights, guys! With this movie now being 4 years behind us, I look at it different than when it was first released. What I can say about the 2018 film and “Kills” is this: really good set-ups and ideas, but the ball is dropped upon execution. So many missed opportunities in both films when you think they’re steering the plot one direction, but they don’t take the better route and give us some head scratching moments. Don’t get me wrong, though; neither movie is the worst in the series at all haha. But I can honestly say that, based on what they’ve done in these last two movies and the fact that “Ends” will now pick up 4 years later, I don’t know where they’re going with this conclusion at all. I can only assume that Laurie will die to finally wipe the JLC slate clean…until she’s in a wheelchair, prepping for H60 haha!
FRank!!! I love your idea about Allyson being chased by Michael and banging on her grandmother's house tripping over her dad's body on the way. Damn you changing the game.
My best characters are Vicky and Julian. I did like Hawkins but I was really annoyed that he seemed to totally miss Sartain's bizarre behavior about Michael. You would think an officer would pick up on that. Ray's comedic relief was really juvenile and didn't seem to fit well in the movie most of the time. I found myself rolling my eyes at him a lot.

I watched Halloween 2018 this weekend again, and better than I remember from 2018, and better than Kills. I think my biggest criticism for a Halloween 2018 (after my most recent watch) is the lighting. They lit this in parts like a Hallmark movie.
saved this one for last of the halloween best and worst of, got to say gents i LOVED H18 im an 80s kid so my first halloween experience was H78 then H2 as a double feature, H2 used to be my second fav but H18 just pips it, loved the movie even the humour our american cousins hated (im scottish we know humour! lol) so really enjoyed it and love rewatching it over and over.
In the new ones trailer they said if you follow the victims it's a straight line to his house. Maybe he was on his way home in this one but on the way he's trick r treating but instead of candy he's taking lives lol. But they stopped him. He's shot at by some weird lady then bit by a cop then got a lift from his doctor. Then visited a haunted house almost burned alive but back on the road back home in the new one lol.
Best character Hawkins, he's one of the best and most believable characters in the movie. Worst is Startain, he really spoiled the momentum in this movie and him putting on the mask is a huge facepalm moment. I'm with you on Ray's comment Darren. Didn't have an issue. "I've got peanut butter on my wang" would have been funny to hear 😂
Yeah especially the name is hunting Allison. He don't do much hunting lol. They could have out him background of a couple shits either walking or just standing there . following Allison as she runs away lol.
But since there are no family ties between Laurie and Michael and since he obviously didn't know where she lived, how else would they have battled had it not be for Sartain? I'm very conflicted by this lol. Would love to know your thoughts?
When I saw this I loved it. But I recently re-watched it I didn't enjoy it as much. I get that joy I get when I watch the Halloweens H1 to H6) maybe I answered my question. We were kids when they came out. Also they had Loomis running around on steroids lol. AMC FearFest tomm afternoon Oct 2nd 2022 will re play all those Halloweens lol
I agree with Darren entirely. Not only was Karen’s line at the end of the movie badass, I was absolutely thinking it was going south FAST, as soon as Sartain put on the mask. I even sat up in my chair, silently mouthed “Oh no!” to my friend, and prepared myself to leave the theatre. I was worried that Michael was dead and we were going to follow Sartain on a killing spree for the rest of the movie 😬
I feel that with DGG and McBride that they really love this franchise and that they are trying their best. REgardless of how we feel about finished product of Halloween 2018 and Kills, at the very least, we can say that they are beautifully shot and they actually look like films. As for H 2018, there are a few things I didn't love: 1) I didn't mind the Sartain "twist" but the execution of it; 2) almost too much comedy that didn't land; 3) Ray was silly but I didn't care when he died; 4) I liked the ending actually but I maybe selfishly wanted it to last a little longer? 5) I would've LOVED for there to be a chase scene with Michael and Allyson; 6) hate when sartain put the mask on.
Sartain was great on paper but bad on execution. I like the 2018 movie but I would’ve liked it more if it had focused on Sartain, Laurie and Hawkins rather than the teens in the middle of the film. There was something very interesting there with those three characters that could have been delved into.
Maybe it is a European kind of humor, Danny McBride used with the Peanutbutter-on-Penis-line...I actually laughed at that. And thought: If he was my dad, we would have a very funny father/son relationship. So no hate for the dad here
Best character: Michael Worst Character: Ray (only because of he was not in it the movie would not change at all) Best line: You’re so getting dry fucked tonight Worst line: I saw him, the shape (the shape is only used in end credits, its not a known term in the halloween films. They kinda went too meta with it.) Great show!
Sartain was a terrible choice.....I didn't understand that part at all. I mean him being in the psych hospital was a good part, but all of that extra stuff was just crazy lol, and made no sense at all.
Darren 1000 percent right about Sartain. It would been nice to see another Loomis running around screaming and ranting( granite he would never be the same) but come on. So many complained about Dr. Wynn/ man in black. Well Sartain's worse wearing the mask. When he puts it on idk why I thought back to Rob Zombie's Halloween. That kid wearing the mask looked like a Halloween Michael Myers BUBBLE HEAD! Sartain's head looked like it GREW with the mask on. Lol
I thought you guys were on point with your assessment. The movie is okay. I saw it opening night, and was with until about the middle portion. The Shape stalking Laurie's granddaughter is when the movie lost me, and Dr. Sartain just destroyed the third act for me. The idea of him picking up Michael and putting him in the back of the police car was absurd, even for this movie.
@@TSLMoviePodcast Exactly! The long tracking shot from house to house, or the sheets ruffling in the wind before attacking the babysitter etc are GREAT moments, but the lackluster ones unfortunately outweigh those good ones.
totally agree about Sartan. His turn to the dark side wrecked the film. The dialogue in the movie as well as the acting was also atrocious. As a screenwriter it baffles me how the dialogue ever got put on camera. Not a patch on Halloween 2. I hated it, though I quite liked halloween kills.
I loved this film. The only thing I didn't like was the doctor being the reason Michael escaped. And when he put michaels mask on, stupid. I would have preferred Laurie in her drunken state to have caused the bus accident therfore putting Michael back on a rampage in Haddonfield. Other than that I enjoyed the film. And look at that, they got the mask right. Didn't seem hard. I'm talking to you H4, H5, H6, H20, Resurrection, RZ Halloweens. I elaborate more on your Halloween kills video on why 78, 18, Kills, H81 and H3 are the only Halloween films in existence to me.
theres a tie for worst line, Karen saying "the world is a happy place filled with love blah blah blah" is just delusional. "peanut butter on my penis" because its something you would hear in RZ Halloween and everyone hates those (except me and a small group). its like the joke the coroners helpers told in RZH2.
I like it less now, Michael is brilliant the mask is perfect, some good kills. The bad is too much comedy and a certain doctor and plot twist. Great views and discussion again guys!
I'm not a fan of the peanut butter line either. I'm not offended, but it just felt stupid and out of place. Why not just say I have peanut butter on my pants? That is what it was actually on. Danny McBride was high when he wrote that line.
I think Hawkins is meant to be a deputy of the Sheriff's Department. His car and his badges say 'Warren County Sheriff's Department'...but at one point he says 'This is Officer Hawkins, Haddonfield Police Department.' He seems to also report to the Sheriff. I think they screwed that up as in the states the city/town police and the county police (sheriff and deputies) would be different entities. Only a law enforcement nerd would care, I guess... I never had an issue with Ray. I'm American, but I still never understood the extreme hate...maybe I'm flashing back to nostalgia with Pete and Pete from my childhood 🤣.
Yeah I liked what he did with the cops but yeah instead of Allison freaking out cause of the mannequins lol. Could have been because of Michael lol. But if she's like the new Laurie then its like the original that he sees her bit goes after other people. He'll get her later. She's on his list. And he's going to check it twice.
Yeah love all these. Only ones I still like but if I had to pick bad ones is ones they don't show. See Dave instead of Vicki or gas station people lol. Or dad by bus lol. Yeah I liked hawkins.
I agree Sartain was the absolute worst lol I would’ve loved to see a Laurie that went on to be a psychiatrist in Loomis’ wake and took the mantle of the Captain Ahab. And with no children and grandchildren to follow. If they are no longer related we shouldn’t be made to still feel like they are. The score and the rapport with Julian and Vicky was the best parts for me. She should’ve been the final girl saved by Laurie and/or the cops.
Hated Sartain. Terrible character and using him as the plot device getting Michael to escape is a big flaw and also kills Michael as this supernatural element. Without Sartain Michael is still locked up. Plus the backstory having him arrested after Loomis shot him
My only problems with this film are some pointless characters like Ray, the 2 cops talking about their lunch, the useless Sheriff Barker who hides Michael's escape from Smith's Grove from Haddonfield to not cause a panic and forces Hawkins to take Sartain with him to find Michael. There's some bad comedy like Ray talking about peanut butter on his penis and the pointless Halloween dance subplot which only exists so Laurie can't call Allyson. Otherwise I like the rest.
The peanut butter line is so inoffensive, I don't know what was meant to be wrong with it. The actual worst line is Karen saying 'The world is full of love and understanding'. edit - Oh, there we go, you agree =P edit edit - I think the christmas sweater is sort of echoing what Vicky said earlier in the film about skipping Halloween and putting up a Christmas tree.
I think the Karen line was oh how do I put this( cause I wouldn't wanna OFFEND anyone like the peanut butter line) but I think it was a way to poke fun of the whole woke movement or believe system or similar movements like that. It back fired on them too with Kills. So many people demanded the film either be edit or taken off the market with the killing of Big John and Little John. They said Michael hated a certain group of people with those killings. Likely most people that partake in that lifestyle didn't feel that way.
Yes the "new Loomis" was a dick. That almost ruined the movie for me. That peanut butter line was just weird. Like why feel the need to announce that? And I didn't realize he wasn't wearing pants. If he was wearing pants, he should have said "I got peanut butter on my crotch/fly/pants".
Best character was Will Pattons deputy. Worst character tie Dr. Sartain (this was supposed to be the NEW Loomis??) and the unnamed black mayor/chief of police wearing his big ol' cowboy hat and then disappearing the rest of the flick. Scariest scene- when Alisons geeky dark haired friend in the devil cosvtume is in the the backyard with the flood lights randomly flivcking on and off and the kid thinks he's talking to frinedly old Mr. Elrod when its reallv Mivchael. Scared the hell out of me. Biggest waste of space- Karens annoying gross husband who nobody really seemed to care when he died ,
Omg! Halloween kills is gonna kill it lol. They can smash me over the head with this awesome franchise lol. Over and over and over and over and over. I'd gladly be Glenn and they can hit me over and over again with this franchise til I looked like Glenn or Dr sartain in this one lol. You can connect Halloween to anything lol. Best franchise ever lol. But is he fed lol. David said in his commentary before New one that he's not confirmed red lol. There's a chance he'd be back. Be in the hospital but he could be back lol.
Great video again, guys, very entertaining as always! As i'm from the UK, I've gotta say I side with Frank on the controversial peanut butter line lol. It just lowers the tone of the movie, feels like an incredibly bad joke and is that something a "good Father" would say infront of his daughter? These are early scenes supposed to create Ray's character - and he just comes off as complete unaware moron - I guess he plays that role throughout but they could have made him a little better. He's a shockingly bad character, but I do like his death scene. I dunno, it just sounds like such a bad line that I would expect from Rob Zombie to come out with in one his more tender moments. It's so early on in the film too it makes you wonder "Oh great, here comes the dick jokes". Who says penis anyway? It's just a very weird line that seems to stand out ( no dick joke intended) because it's a father/daughter introductory scene. Why bring a sexual organ joke into a kitchen breakfast scene ( maybe it's a light homage to Rob Zombie). I like H2018, it was a breath of fresh air following the previous three movies at the very least and just to have OG Michael Myers back, and actually look and act like him, was a dream come true. On top of that, John Carpenter was involved and his amazing score - man, elevates this movie into the stratosphere compared to previous entries :)
My favorite sequel, great mask, great myers, great score, some good kills, brutal, myers has no motive, no sister or cult bullshit, just a simple slasher
From there I hoped Michael screwed Alison life up I'd love to be Laurie there to tell Alison well sorry that happened to u ur friends got killed get over it now
This movie dont work for me the 40 years shit dont work for me and jamie coming back her charcter dont work for me enjoyed kills more prolly cause she was in the background
Dude acts like characters in the film are members of the audience. Makes no sense for Karen to act other than she does in the film. Thats just for starters. But, this is what happens when you project onto a film instead of analyze it for what it is. If Dr Sartain is un-Halloween like, wtf is Dr Wynn?
Yes I didn't like what they did with Sartain.. it was stupid... him putting on the mask... and there is no way that it was possible for him to carry Michael and put him in a car....I feel like they already did that with the bad Doctor in past movies
She's going out with Cameron later. Maybe shell put peanut butter on his p lol. Yeah knew what kind you were going to say lol. Its such happy world we live in lol. Nothing bad ever happens !Lol. Stop it Karen lol.
I really don’t have much love with this movie. Laurie strode is awful in this. I think if you live your life for one more battle, then she should have taken your life years ago. Fucking up your child’s life isn’t worth it. Especially from a regular killer. Nothing special. What’s the difference brother or sister; they still stalk each other! Halloween 2 should have been cannon. I feel this movie will not age well!
Halloween is commercial trash now. It is totally alien and foreign to the original. It’s like allowing people like Zack Snyder to go and make The Terminator, it will be sh*t. I think Carpenter just gives in for money purposes now. These films have lost their ability.
I saw in an interview with the actress playing Karen that the reason Karen wears the Xmas jumper is because she hates celebrating Halloween because of how Laurie would act when it would be that time of the year so she wears Xmas jumpers instead.
That’s interesting Louise and would make total sense. Thanks for checking us out.

Michael Myers is a killer shark. In baggy ass overalls who gets his kicks from killing everyone and everything he comes across.
The ‘Halloween’ sequel/reboot is still one of the best movies in 2018.
“I got peanut butter on my pants” would have fixed that.
Agree 100% on Darren's worst moment.

Worst line: I've got peanut butter on my penis. LOL it's just so bad. Best line: He can speak. He just chooses not to.
I like the head stomp lol. Love it. I cheered lol. Yayyyyy!!!!!! It was mainly to get Michael to Laurie. Otherwise he'd never get there lol.
In the first half hour, some of the stuff is the best of the franchise
I agree with Darren entirely. Not only was Karen’s line at the end of the movie badass, I was absolutely thinking it was going south FAST, as soon as Sartain put on the mask. I even sat up in my chair, silently mouthed “Oh no!” to my friend, and prepared myself to leave the theatre. I was worried that Michael was dead and we were going to follow Sartain on a killing spree for the rest of the movie 😬
Can you imagine that? 😧
@@TSLMoviePodcast Oh god, it would have sank the entire movie…
37:20 Dude, Michael is 61 years old and been locked up with no yoga. He's going to be stiff.
Good point Brandon 😂
This movie would have been 100% better without Sartain.
Agreed
Maybe it is a European kind of humor, Danny McBride used with the Peanutbutter-on-Penis-line...I actually laughed at that. And thought: If he was my dad, we would have a very funny father/son relationship. So no hate for the dad here
Best character: Michael
Worst Character: Ray (only because of he was not in it the movie would not change at all)
Best line: You’re so getting dry fucked tonight
Worst line: I saw him, the shape (the shape is only used in end credits, its not a known term in the halloween films. They kinda went too meta with it.)
Great show!
Thanks buddy, appreciated
It's 9/19/22 and I still hate the "PB on my penis" line. But when Sartain stabbed Hawkins, I almost walked out of the theater.
Me too
What they got right in this movie they did an excellent job with. Which makes the things they got wrong very frustrating.
I couldn’t agree more Jack
Sartain was a terrible choice.....I didn't understand that part at all. I mean him being in the psych hospital was a good part, but all of that extra stuff was just crazy lol, and made no sense at all.
I agree 100% percent about keeping Sartain until the very end.
Only if he hadn’t been a dick 😉
@@TSLMoviePodcast I kinda like that he wasn’t a loomis copy. But him with the mask on was stupid. Unforgivable
I usually have peanuts butter on my bread , maybe I am just weird. Only kids eat that in movies like Danny in the Shining and the kid in Kill Bill 2.
Agreed RMJ it’s not the best and it’s not the worst. The problem is that some of those bad moments linger longer than the more positive decisions.
@@TSLMoviePodcast Exactly! The long tracking shot from house to house, or the sheets ruffling in the wind before attacking the babysitter etc are GREAT moments, but the lackluster ones unfortunately outweigh those good ones.
@@rmjmoviereviews6876 I couldn’t agree more
totally agree about Sartan. His turn to the dark side wrecked the film. The dialogue in the movie as well as the acting was also atrocious. As a screenwriter it baffles me how the dialogue ever got put on camera. Not a patch on Halloween 2. I hated it, though I quite liked halloween kills.
Interesting thoughts, thanks Nick
I agree completely on the bus crash
theres a tie for worst line, Karen saying "the world is a happy place filled with love blah blah blah" is just delusional.
Thanks Gavin
Have you guys ever heard James Courtney in an interview? He talks about the one take, you should listen to that and then form the opinion on James.
Hey Charles, yes I have seen the interview, he’s a great Myers, up there in the top three for sure.
Same with me Jace, justice for Ray
That’s an interesting way of looking at it Michael. Julian was a lot of fun right?
Definitely one of the better entries but definitely has its flaws. Buzzing for 1220 Friday afternoon.
Sartain is my most hated character in this film.
and possibly Franchise too 😉
I didn't have a problem with the peanut butter line. I found it funny, and I live in the US.
Good man 😉
Just like in original . he reacts to what she's doing to him lol.
See Ray in Copshop. He steals the film.
The peanut butter line is so inoffensive, I don't know what was meant to be wrong with it. The actual worst line is Karen saying 'The world is full of love and understanding'.
edit - Oh, there we go, you agree =P
edit edit - I think the christmas sweater is sort of echoing what Vicky said earlier in the film about skipping Halloween and putting up a Christmas tree.
Yeah, people get too hung up on the Peanut Butter comment
With the Karen line, I think she’s being facetious.
No ....that's a Christmas sweater there are Is Christmas trees on there
It would appear so
That line wasn’t in the script.
Tht damn side show with Zartain.
Don’t get me started 😬
Yes the "new Loomis" was a dick. That almost ruined the movie for me. That peanut butter line was just weird. Like why feel the need to announce that? And I didn't realize he wasn't wearing pants. If he was wearing pants, he should have said "I got peanut butter on my crotch/fly/pants".
Yeah he said that in front of his teenage daughter 😂
Best character was Will Pattons deputy. Worst character tie Dr. Sartain (this was supposed to be the NEW Loomis??) and the unnamed black mayor/chief of police wearing his big ol' cowboy hat and then disappearing the rest of the flick. Scariest scene- when Alisons geeky dark haired friend in the devil cosvtume is in the the backyard with the flood lights randomly flivcking on and off and the kid thinks he's talking to frinedly old Mr. Elrod when its reallv Mivchael. Scared the hell out of me. Biggest waste of space- Karens annoying gross husband who nobody really seemed to care when he died ,
Annoying gross husband 😂
I hated Sartain! Just awful 😖
Great review guys! 👏 look forward to Halloween kills 🎃
Thanks Chantel
I'm with you Daren!!! I laughed when I heard the penis line lol
Too right
Fair enough Scoob. His Death scene triggers the best part of the movie for me . Cool stuff
Well he could still be alive. Its alive! Its alive!
Yeah something for everyone in this franchise lol
Yeah I hated the psychiatrist too
Sartain was awesome
My favorite sequel, great mask, great myers, great score, some good kills, brutal, myers has no motive, no sister or cult bullshit, just a simple slasher
I enjoy watching your videos and I agree sartain almost ruined it for me especially when he puts the mask on
Absolutely. He crashed the movie.
The peanut butter line is horrid!
Yes sartain crashed this movie for sure.
When he showed up with the mask on, I was like "omg wtf are they doing?"
Me too
From there I hoped Michael screwed Alison life up I'd love to be Laurie there to tell Alison well sorry that happened to u ur friends got killed get over it now
This movie dont work for me the 40 years shit dont work for me and jamie coming back her charcter dont work for me enjoyed kills more prolly cause she was in the background
We always respect feedback, thanks for checking us out.
Yes I didn't like what they did with Sartain.. it was stupid... him putting on the mask... and there is no way that it was possible for him to carry Michael and put him in a car....I feel like they already did that with the bad Doctor in past movies
Yes, Jason, such a dumb moment with the mask right?
I’d like to have seen H2 be cannon too
Is it really Charles sniffing hair or President Biden?? Just Saying!!!
Halloween is commercial trash now. It is totally alien and foreign to the original.
It’s like allowing people like Zack Snyder to go and make The Terminator, it will be sh*t.
I think Carpenter just gives in for money purposes now.
These films have lost their ability.
We respect your point of view but thanks for watching us anyway.
@@TSLMoviePodcast The original is a masterpiece.
