this was a great concept for this video guy's coz i don't think anyone on the planet can watch one of rob zombies halloweens and not think i would've changed this or changed that. really liked this guys well done
So, here recently, Rob Zombie has been making the rounds on different podcasts, and when he is asked about Halloween 2007, he squarely blames studio interference for how "weird & inconsistent" the movie is. But having said that, look at the sequel... apparently, the studio let Rob do whatever he wanted for the sequel, so I'm not sure what to think. I really need to watch the "Making of" doc, and then rewatch the new interviews with Rob. What strange films...
I have always looked at Rob Zombies Halloween and separated it from the original. You remembered me saying, take the title away and it's a Rob zombie movie. Really interesting facts about things they thought about using, I don't love everything Rob Zombie does but I do like these films, it was different. Great video as always Darren and Frank :)

The shock of the opening scene in the og 78’ and seeing that it was a little kid with this vacant look on his face was brilliant of Carpenter. Rob Zombie’s Micheal as a kid fidgeting around as Loomis talked to him instead of having that disturbed vacant look, did not work at all. Darren your Loomis impression is getting as good as Frank’s🤣
I was 16 in 07’ I remember watching The trailer on computer Back in MySpace days Forcing it up all my friends I ended up in juvie by summer And had to watch on bootleg dvd I remember we had two choices Of film to watch I told them to watch Halloween etc I got out Loved that film for longest But then Love for it died off a bit
Rob followed the tradition of Mid-2000s slashers in making them hulking giant 6’5+ beasts. It was a little jarring seeing Michael go from *literally* a shape to now this long-haired mountain, but it drove home his unstoppable nature. Bullets, police, knives…all useless.
Great episode! yeah take it from a guy that was 17 when this came out. girls at school least here in Wisconsin never talked like Laurie,Annie, or Linda. Don't get me wrong if things were heating up alone, well that was a different story. but not every other word all the time.
Best clip is when Mikey is sitting on the sidewalk watching trick or treaters and Nazareth starts playing and mom starts dancing. Give me the director's extended cut of that on a bluray and throw the rest away

Excellent episode. Despite not being a fan of either cut of either of Rob zombie's Halloween films. I do appreciate the fact if he hadn't have made that first movie Halloween was going straight to DVD the same way that Hellraiser did. Great video as always. I don't know if you guys ever found the work print version on youtube. But there are two scene in that version that I find laughable. The first is when michael is stalking the 3 girls on the way home. When Laurie says "I think that guy's watching us" it cuts to michael standing literally in the middle of the street just staring. And when they chase him off, you just see him walk away like "oh you caught me. I guess I'll go now." Hilarious. And the second is when he kills Laurie's adoptive dad. Instead of it being a jump scare you just watch Michael walk up the sidewalk like he's coming over for dinner. Thank god they cut those moments from the film. There was just no suspense or scares or anything. You should definitely check them out. Anyway sorry for the long comment. I just thought it was funny.
Back in 2013, I was deployed overseas. There was a screen writers competition being put on by The Weinstein Company. And back then TWC was teamed up with DIMENSION FILMS. And I pitched them a HALLOWEEN reboot that was more grounded in reality. It was “The Dark Knight” trilogy of HALLOWEEN films. I even said I wanted my H1 and H2 filmed back-to-back because they both take place on the same night. I was told that I wasn’t allowed to participate because even though I am an American citizen, I wasn’t IN America. It was nice to see some of my ideas(nothing crazy, them not being related, burnt mask)get used later on in the 2018 and 2021 films. I’m curious to see how it all finishes in 2022 with HALLOWEEN ENDS. And now that Blumhouse will no longer have the rights to HALLOWEEN I’m curious to see where the series goes from here. I’d love a Netflix series and even an anthology series. My hard reboot still could work to this day. It used some ideas from the novelization, but it is based in the present day we live in. I also have an idea for a HALLOWEEN film that could either be live action or animated but breaks the 4th wall and tells a story about a character from one of the older films fighting Michael once and for all, but Michael is literally a movie monster. Like the ethereal monster that they wanted in H4. He IS the boogeyman. He has powers. And it’s a literal chase film with little 5 to 10 minute spurts of story like EXTRACTION, Mission Impossible: Fall Out, or MAD MAX: Fury Road.
I quite like Frank's idea. Focus more on the normalcy of Michael's family and the idea of him just snapping with no rhyme or reason. Obviously it's inferred in the 78 film there was no reason behind Michael doing what he did, but by giving it some more time on screen it could really drive the point home and add to that mystique. Certainly better then the hillbilly trash Zombie gave us. Had a random thought, also. Do you guys think not matter what they do with Halloween going forward. Reboot, re-imagining, sequel in a different timeline etc. that the mask should always be the 78 Kirk? Obviously not THE 78 Kirk, but we've seen they can get pretty damn close with the flashback in Kills and even masks on the market from TOTS. It just kind of feels like there's no excuse now not to at least get the mask right.
I actually do like this movie, but I've also always felt that it would've been much more powerful if Michael just snapped. If he was a good kid that came from a good family and, for no apparent reason, just lost his humanity. That would've been much more terrifying.
Plz cover the Nightmare remake in either this format or the Best/Worst format. I'd like to hear your ideas on fixing the mystery plot of that movie (or just dispensing with it).
Hey guys you are great!!! But here's one thing about Halloween Jon Carpenter told Rob Zombie to make it his own right, so his movie is about Nature vs nurture creating Michael!!! Which henceforth why his family is the way it is. That's what creates Michael!!!

In my mind they should have had a big twist towards the end...when Brackett tells Loomis he finds this baby at a suicide have it actually be Annie. So when Laurie is killed its shocking
I think the mini series would be an awesome idea but with something that might be a hot take. Have it be the original idea for what Halloween was supposed to be which was an anthology series. They tried to do it with 3 but it didn't work but they could do each season a different story as they tried with SotW. Make season 1 about Michael, be faithful and recreate the story properly to make it be what it was supposed to be. Season 2 can be what SotW was but made better and have it more flushed out. There's alot of great ideas for an anthology series based on Halloween and with a mini series you can dive a bit deeper and really make it worth the 6 episodes or however many it would be to properly flush out the characters than you can with a 90 minute movie.

Make it a silent film so we don't have to hear zombies filthy out of place dialogue. A black and white film with Loomis breaking the fourth wall looking into the camera when Michael kills.
I had a black market DVD that had different music didn’t have Clint Howard at all I can’t remember but I think Danny Trejo was in it a lot less, the van death, and Michael let’s Laurie go n gets shot to shit!
I loved the first rob zombies movie lol. The second I was like wtf til rewatches then it got better. Yeah it's been better if the family and house was better. Better family. Normal family. That'd be crazy. Not as predictable as in this lol. But its pretty hilarious and quotable how it is though how crazy they talking lol. Where else can you hear all this lol. Yeah he can be normal kid til that night sometimes then he just snaps. That'd be crazy. Or he could be troubled like hearing voices lol like in novelization. Or like in new timeline where he's already something off with him he's mute I guess and looking out the window lol. I like your version lol. Very interesting lol. Yeah that'd be more intriguing. Especially seeing the normal family. In original they look normal but they might not have been lol. That dad in original could have been saying all that roney says but in doors lol. There's families like that. Look normal outside inside abusive lol.
I've never been a fan of Zombies Halloween. I totally agree with Darren, I want mystique with Michael. I dont want an extended backstory, especially one that humanizes Michael and makes him the hero because all the other characters are pieces of shit. Its fine, he did his take on it but it wasn't for me. The dialogue is atrocious in the film. I just don't think Zombie is q good writer. I really like a lot of his choices as director but he's kind of shit as a writer. Its like giving a junior high kid the ok to write a story and they are free to cuss as much as they want. The dialogue was over the top. It always really bothered me that Linda couldn't tell that the guy under the sheet was the size of Andre the Giant and most definitely not her boyfriend. I really liked Frank's ideas. Keep up the great videos guys.
This was a fun show, I enjoyed it. I really hope that in the ending of H Ends Michael gets killed by Laurie with help from Allison, Lauri survives and can finally have the peace she deserves. I just don't see anywhere else to go with Michael. But, I can see Malek Akkad stringing on the franchise with cheaper budgeted movies.
this may seem like a dumb question but I always wondered if they actually shot those awful abusive scenes with baby boo in the same room, doesn't seem like something you should or could do legally anyways but am I wrong hope I am cz that's the entire reason I hate this movie for putting that baby thru that
Definitely needed some of the workprint scenes kept in, minus the dreaded rape scene. Odd time for cinema, where everyone needed shaky cam and quick cuts, which has really aged this film. Rob has a great eye, but most everyone agrees he needed someone to script out his ideas. The original script was just dreadful though.
Personally I think it would be better if we disassociated them from Halloween period. Then it would be easier to judge them as individual horror movies
Well as a reboot and a sequel I feel that they play out well on the small screen. Alas not in a party atmosphere with family members around! lol But watching them alone, director's cuts on Blu-ray, is fine enough. To each their own. I've always enjoyed things like Slashers, Exploitation, some Giallo films from Italy. Plus Zombie epics and Vampires & Werewolves. However, I still stand by the fact that many fellow genre fans all over the English speaking Western World just plain take them _FAR_ too seriously. For example if someone calls a film a "travesty", I just sigh and say "Nope. To each their own. It's a notable cult classic to someone else. If it is that shitty simply stop watching it twice a year and doin' silly things such as fan commentaries & multiple TH-cam postings". I enjoy being a genre fan plus a physical media collector, but with all due respect I see _A LOT_ of multiple posts on channels & I worry that some of us have issues with cinema.🤔
Love this and H2. The cinematography was beautiful. Take the white trash dialogue of the first 30 minutes out and it and H2, and they gain more fans. You would have a hard time convincing me these are not two of the more "realistic" Halloween films. This MM is not supernatural, and I prefer it this way. I think a real guy is far more scary than a supernatural one. The acting (aside from his wife who is.... not good) is better than at least half the Halloween films, especially H2 and Brad Dourif. Little things like Michael not shaving... that is realistic. MM does not give a crap about how he looks. But every other MM where we see him unmasked is ridiculous. He would never take the time to shave, ever. I just find these two movies more realistic and brutal, which I like. It is light years better than H20 and Resurrection, and somewhere near the middle of the others IMO (probably around the 5th and 6th best Halloween films for me behind 1,2,4, H18). A big problem fans have with these two RZ movies is that it is "not what Halloween was supposed to be." But what did fans expect? A remake of the 1978 film shot for shot? They tried that with Psycho in 1998 and it was hated. If you are going to remake a movie, you have to change things or else what is the point... The dialogue in some scenes was not good at all, but other than that..... It's a good two movie story.
I’ve always liked zombies Halloween I mean it’s not perfect and certainly has its flaws but at least it was something different. The one change I always liked was that Michael wasn’t originally trying to kill Laurie he just wanted her back until she buried that knife in him then he became aggressive with her almost out of betrayal
To each their own. Modern day genre filmmakers like Rob Zombie and Eli Roth are fine directors. I enjoy their work. However, they indeed _DO_ need a co-screenwriter to better help them out on projects in the dialogue & situations department, though. I enjoy Rob's work but man oh man, he seriously must write his stuff in under a week & almost certainly *NEVER* does dialogue polishes! 🤔

This movie was garbage 🗑 I honestly rather watch pt 5 and resurrection....he gave way too much back story on Michael..the characters were horrendous trailer trash ..his usual overused recycled actors...Michael was 9 foot tall and looked like undertaker or ultimate warrior it took away all the creepiness of the original Michael because you would expect a man of that size to be capable of those acts especially being an inmate on top of all that!it was a complete letdown and a joke both of his Halloweens...the 2nd being sewage from Harvey WEINSTEIN'S PRISON TOILET...hidden underneath his cell mattress in between a buttman magazine...his best movie was the Munsters soft TV reboot 😆 devil's rejects was his personal masterpiece and thats really it...I like his band better than his movies..definitely a really talented guy ,just kinda mismanaged or no one to reel him out of his recurring mistakes ...

Sometimes studios interfere with films but in his case he doesn't want to admit it's shit so is saying the studio ruined it.

I had a black market DVD that had different music didn’t have Clint Howard at all I can’t remember but I think Danny Trejo was in it a lot less, the van death, and Michael let’s Laurie go n gets shot to shit!
I loved the first rob zombies movie lol. The second I was like wtf til rewatches then it got better. Yeah it's been better if the family and house was better. Better family. Normal family. That'd be crazy. Not as predictable as in this lol. But its pretty hilarious and quotable how it is though how crazy they talking lol. Where else can you hear all this lol. Yeah he can be normal kid til that night sometimes then he just snaps. That'd be crazy. Or he could be troubled like hearing voices lol like in novelization. Or like in new timeline where he's already something off with him he's mute I guess and looking out the window lol. I like your version lol. Very interesting lol. Yeah that'd be more intriguing. Especially seeing the normal family. In original they look normal but they might not have been lol. That dad in original could have been saying all that roney says but in doors lol. There's families like that. Look normal outside inside abusive lol.
I've never been a fan of Zombies Halloween. I totally agree with Darren, I want mystique with Michael. I dont want an extended backstory, especially one that humanizes Michael and makes him the hero because all the other characters are pieces of shit. Its fine, he did his take on it but it wasn't for me. The dialogue is atrocious in the film. I just don't think Zombie is q good writer. I really like a lot of his choices as director but he's kind of shit as a writer. Its like giving a junior high kid the ok to write a story and they are free to cuss as much as they want. The dialogue was over the top. It always really bothered me that Linda couldn't tell that the guy under the sheet was the size of Andre the Giant and most definitely not her boyfriend. I really liked Frank's ideas. Keep up the great videos guys.

This was a fun show, I enjoyed it. I really hope that in the ending of H Ends Michael gets killed by Laurie with help from Allison, Lauri survives and can finally have the peace she deserves. I just don't see anywhere else to go with Michael. But, I can see Malek Akkad stringing on the franchise with cheaper budgeted movies.

Definitely needed some of the workprint scenes kept in, minus the dreaded rape scene. Odd time for cinema, where everyone needed shaky cam and quick cuts, which has really aged this film. Rob has a great eye, but most everyone agrees he needed someone to script out his ideas. The original script was just dreadful though.

Well as a reboot and a sequel I feel that they play out well on the small screen. Alas not in a party atmosphere with family members around! lol But watching them alone, director's cuts on Blu-ray, is fine enough. To each their own. I've always enjoyed things like Slashers, Exploitation, some Giallo films from Italy. Plus Zombie epics and Vampires & Werewolves. However, I still stand by the fact that many fellow genre fans all over the English speaking Western World just plain take them _FAR_ too seriously.
For example if someone calls a film a "travesty", I just sigh and say "Nope. To each their own. It's a notable cult classic to someone else. If it is that shitty simply stop watching it twice a year and doin' silly things such as fan commentaries & multiple TH-cam postings". I enjoy being a genre fan plus a physical media collector, but with all due respect I see _A LOT_ of multiple posts on channels & I worry that some of us have issues with cinema.🤔

Love this and H2. The cinematography was beautiful. Take the white trash dialogue of the first 30 minutes out and it and H2, and they gain more fans. You would have a hard time convincing me these are not two of the more "realistic" Halloween films. This MM is not supernatural, and I prefer it this way. I think a real guy is far more scary than a supernatural one. The acting (aside from his wife who is.... not good) is better than at least half the Halloween films, especially H2 and Brad Dourif. Little things like Michael not shaving... that is realistic. MM does not give a crap about how he looks. But every other MM where we see him unmasked is ridiculous. He would never take the time to shave, ever. I just find these two movies more realistic and brutal, which I like. It is light years better than H20 and Resurrection, and somewhere near the middle of the others IMO (probably around the 5th and 6th best Halloween films for me behind 1,2,4, H18). A big problem fans have with these two RZ movies is that it is "not what Halloween was supposed to be." But what did fans expect? A remake of the 1978 film shot for shot? They tried that with Psycho in 1998 and it was hated. If you are going to remake a movie, you have to change things or else what is the point... The dialogue in some scenes was not good at all, but other than that..... It's a good two movie story.

I’ve always liked zombies Halloween I mean it’s not perfect and certainly has its flaws but at least it was something different. The one change I always liked was that Michael wasn’t originally trying to kill Laurie he just wanted her back until she buried that knife in him then he became aggressive with her almost out of betrayal

To each their own. Modern day genre filmmakers like Rob Zombie and Eli Roth are fine directors. I enjoy their work. However, they indeed _DO_ need a co-screenwriter to better help them out on projects in the dialogue & situations department, though. I enjoy Rob's work but man oh man, he seriously must write his stuff in under a week & almost certainly *NEVER* does dialogue polishes! 🤔

This movie was garbage 🗑 I honestly rather watch pt 5 and resurrection....he gave way too much back story on Michael..the characters were horrendous trailer trash ..his usual overused recycled actors...Michael was 9 foot tall and looked like undertaker or ultimate warrior it took away all the creepiness of the original Michael because you would expect a man of that size to be capable of those acts especially being an inmate on top of all that!it was a complete letdown and a joke both of his Halloweens...the 2nd being sewage from Harvey WEINSTEIN'S PRISON TOILET...hidden underneath his cell mattress in between a buttman magazine...his best movie was the Munsters soft TV reboot 😆 devil's rejects was his personal masterpiece and thats really it...I like his band better than his movies..definitely a really talented guy ,just kinda mismanaged or no one to reel him out of his recurring mistakes ...
I just have to say it already-- Frank is *SO* hot!! 🔥 What a handsome man 😍
