Thanks to you I've been able to come up with some catchy tunes simular to this tutorial, but its a particular sound I'm having trouble finding. Like i said before I'm an old head so i have to find a good way to describe it but i'll get back to you on that. Thanks for your teaching homeboy...😎😎😎
I really, really appreciate the tutorial and tips. This definitely motivated me and inspired me. This is the exact video I needed! You are very talented bro. Hope you go far with your music and channel
Loving the sauce! Is it okay to add an 808 after I lay down a baseline using an actual base preset and not just dropping a piano couple octaves down to start my baseline. I'm always afraid the bass and 808 will clash. And what about adding the chord progression after my static melody. I didn't see you add one. Is a chord progression required with this kind of melodies or methods of building tracks?
Do whatever you want with the bass instrument/notes, whatever you think works. I cut the lows through EQ on the melodic instruments so the bass or 808 has space to work. When I lay down a bass instrument and I plan on using an 808, I use the bass part for the hook or bridge only & never have them hitting at the same time. The first example shows a chord progression built before the static melody, so you’d do it that way. But if you want to build a melody first THEN chords, watch some of the videos from my melody basics playlist on my channel. I have one specifically on harmonizing a melody you already have. th-cam.com/video/z0YmKN0k4lY/w-d-xo.html
But also, the point of the lil baby version of the method is to build a foundational melody AROUND one chord and just add bass and a top melody. The first method I showed was about putting something simple over chords that already exist. So to answer that last question, a chord progression isn’t required because the harmony will come from the Melody’s relationship with the baseline. Listen to the two tracks I mentioned at the beginning by lil baby and future.
I was already doing some of these things but seeing it explained helps visualize and even help add some ideas ..👍🏾

I'm probably gonna do that in a future video next month now that you mention it. If I find any rnb songs that do it, I'll come back to this thread
