Tim Drake will always be my favorite robin, but what Jason represents as robin is great. He represented the harshness of what Gothem did to its youth, a shitty upbringing causing him many issues but you could understand why he turned out this way. Seeing him as robin trying to do good is admirable and yes he wasn't always the perfect partner, he was still trying his best to be a hero. Although IMO Jason really became much more fascinating after coming back as Red hood than he was during his tenure as robin
Yeah that’s the part that’s so heartbreaking and emotional about Jason’s fall from grace. Even though people try to disingenuously characterize him differently nowadays, Jason was overall a good and compassionate kid with a big heart, but that big heart definitely extended further into other darker regions as well. He definitely had noticeable issues that needed to be dealt with, and his death and resurrection ended up only exacerbated a lot of the shit he was dealing with
**thats not all TIM DRAKE IS THE ONLY ROBIN in the COMICS as of now to wear the mantle of BATMAN BEYOND. (batman of the future) THAT IS SAYING MUCH SOMETHING!**
"Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing!" Out of all the Robins, Jason was always the most interesting to me. He had the makings of a hero and had a good heart, but was always hindered by the chip on his shoulder due to his upbringing. While he may not have been the easiest person to work with, Jason was a hero that was always raring to help whenever he can. What makes him fascinating to me is that even when he is revived and has grown hostile to Batman, he reworked the Red Hood identity as a superhero and set off to stop crime on his own. Even though his methods were drastic, the good nature of Jason still persisted under all the damage and hurt he has experienced.

I haven’t read too much of Jason’s time as Robin, but reading his death surprised me. I had gotten the impression that he was unlikeable and that his time as Robin wasn’t influential enough to be remembered well. However, even though Jason isn’t my favorite Robin, his death was one of the few moments in reading comics that I teared up. All he wanted to do was find his mother, and even after finding her and being betrayed by her, his first instinct after getting nearly beaten to death is to save her. It was actually pretty inspiring and not what I would have expected from the stereotypes I’ve heard about the character prior.
Well yeah that’s one part of the disingenuous takes people have nowadays. People like to victim blame Jason and characterize differently than he actually was
yeah the stereotypes are the problem. way too many people only know about his death from word of mouth so they victim blame him and say he “didn’t listen to batman and went after the joker by himself” when it’s actually much more complicated and nuanced than that lol. if people actually *read* a death in the family (and more of robin!jason’s comics in general while we’re at it) these mischaracterizations probably wouldn’t be so rampant

Personally his whole problem child aspect was something that I someone liked even though admittedly I only came in after Arkham but one of the things that I like that I wish they would do more is also show how Jason actually had a good relationship with Alfred and some of the bat family and Bruce one of my favorite moments I think out of his own run was when Mr Freeze almost killed him in all it took for Batman to know how serious it was was for him to call for Bruce I loved how that was such a big thing under the idea that moment kind of sums up their relationship as him and red hood see that they genuinely care for each other but also are so distant to the point where calling for one another is such a out there thing but it's like out there because they're so close but won't show it to the point where it takes Batman a back at the idea that Jason explicitly called for him to help him
I would love to see your take on Red Hood. He is without question my favorite dc character because oh how layered he is while still being the "batman with guns" that makes my inner five year old cheer!
I like that Jason was just a younger Bruce and was just angry and if Joker didn't crowbar him I wonder if he'd eventually mellow out or if he'd get fired and become red hood regardless.
Great video. I would love seeing a video on Jason Todd's resurrection and transformation into The Red Hood. I wasn't familiar with his character until I watched the animated version of The Dark Knight Returns and Under the Red Hood. Batman is a character known for his intelligence and his humanity, so exploring his greatest failure in saving Jason and watching him walk the line between hero and villain was very interesting. As Alfred pointed out, crime was so under control under Jason's rule that Batman actually got to sleep, so his methods did have value. I especially liked the Death in the Family spinoff movie that showed all the different ways his character could've gone. He's become one of my favorite DC characters and I hope Warner Bros has plans for him...when they get themselves together.
Have you read Red Hood And The Outlaws (2016)? Red Hood is in a team with Artemis Of Bana Mighdall and Bizarro, and their friendship is pretty awesome. They have been dubbed as the Dark Trinity (Bizarro as Superman, Red Hood as Batman and Artemis as Wonder Woman).

Like you said Jason represented a more realistic version of the Robin character, what kid/teenager is going to be happy and obedient all the time while being in a position as a crime fighter like Dick and Tim generally were? Especially given his background who grew up poor and his father was a criminal and after he died had to fend for himself, and he had no positive influences until Batman came into his life.
I understand not being happy about people who once hated a character suddenly loving it I went through that with The Amazing spiderman I loved those movies obviously they're not perfect but Andrew went from the spiderman not being talked about to Everyone's favorite Peter and Spiderman in No way home in a blink of an eye
Dick is my favorite Robin. But people sleep on Jason. He’s one of the best fighters in the DC universe. He has beaten Ra's. Deathstroke. And Batman multiple times. He even beat Lady Shiva with one attack. And he’s a genius with an incredible instinct. He’s one bad ass man.
I used to be a hardcore Jason Todd / Red Hood fanboy, but after REALLY getting into the fandom and reading the comics and such, Tim is the best Robin by FARRRRR. The dynamic between Bruce and Tim is unmatched, but Dick takes 2nd place.
Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing But seriously Vee, you keep putting out content like this and you'll probably become a lot of people's favorite TH-camr!
Honestly I love all the Robin's except Tim. That kid is like TV static, in that he has no flaws, is super smart and perfect. Maybe do a video on him and explain his appeal one day. But sure:Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing!
@@parkerboy795 This 💯 facts! I what I loved about Tim was that he was the only Robin that had a childhood that was normal when compared to the two who came before him. He didn't have any special physical skills before working with Batman. He had his brain and his good heart. He was also the first Robin to have his own solo series.
I personally think Tim should be the heir to the role that Alfred plays. Not the butler , but the weirdly logical heart and backbone of the Bat family. When it comes to the Robin brothers, if Nightwing is the eldest who doesn’t want to be Batman, Jason is the angry 2nd child who stands out as the ‘Rogue Robin’ by being Red Hood. And Damien is the baby brother and the bratty heir to the Bat throne.... it just feels natural that the nearly flawless Tim Drake just seems like he should play a similar role as Alfred does. The true voice of reason
Vee requested so I shall deliver. "Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing" I shall await your next video. Keep it up bro let the algorithm do it's thing when the time is right
While I agree with the best Robin take and some of the things you touch on. I disagree on some of the way you described Jason as a character when he was Robin. He wasn’t nearly as rageful and reckless as people try and pin him as. That’s the part that’s so heartbreaking and emotional about Jason’s fall from grace. Even though people try to disingenuously characterize him differently nowadays, Jason was overall a good and compassionate kid with a big heart, but that big heart definitely extended further into other darker regions as well. He definitely had noticeable issues that needed to be dealt with, and his death and resurrection ended up only exacerbated a lot of the shit he was dealing with Sure Jason had his issues and slight outbursts when he was Robin, but most of the time he was a good kid, and was a competent Robin. He didn’t go about of his way to disobey or do it his own way all the time. Jason was also far smarter than some try and credit him as, he literally loved academics and books. I disagree with you take that he was on the surface a dick and reckless, but deep down a good kid. I think it’s the opposite imo. I think overall he was a good and compassionate kid, but deep down he had some serious issues. The issues really got unleashed after he was killed and brought back. I feel the way you described him fits much better after he returns as Red Hood than when he was Robin
Jason's evolution is extremely good, I find that for me the batman characters always have a good evolution or writing "this is my opinion", but I prefer Jason as Red Hood.
He never was my favorite Robin (I just prefer the original, even if he eventually surpassed that), but I never really understand the hate he did get, because he was just a flawed hero and then an antihero to me. Even Batman isn't flawless, far from it. Our flaws are what makes us human...

PLEASE DO HIS RETURN AS RED HOOD. I'VE BEEN ACHING FOR A JASON TODD CHARACTER STUDY. Also, So Jason is basically If Damian Wayne if he had better writing.
You know when I read the Comic when Jason was a Robin a lot of people say stuff about Jason that is ln’t true like he only a punk like we all know Jason was a scrappy kid. he had a shitty dad, a drug addict mom, and spent a few years alone on the streets. this hardened Jason and gave him a ferocity he didn’t have before. But he was more than that he was a Nerd. sweetheart. he had a passion for heroism and encapsulated everything that Robin is supposed to stand for. He also had his dark moment-like tendency to get violent went provoked.
Tim Drake will always be my favorite robin, but what Jason represents as robin is great. And Ninjas, Alot of Ninja’s
Exactly! Thank you!
Pretty much Jason Todd is an underrated Robin. I really wish DC returned is hair color back to its original since it matches the character.
Amazing Video. Jason Todd is an amazing Robin. My favorite Robin is definitely Tim Drake tho
Dick Grayson> Best Robin to turn into Batman
Jason Todd> Best Robin
Time Drake> Smartest Robin or Detective Robin
Damian Wayne> Strongest Robin
3:00 in the comics, Jason is resurrected by Superboy-Prime punching the Source Wall in Infinite Crisis, not from the Lazarus Pit
"Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing" yes, more please!
They added Jason in later on in the new Batman adventures comic
Omg yes please cover the resurrection too!
I used to be a hardcore Jason Todd / Red Hood fanboy, but after REALLY getting into the fandom and reading the comics and such, Tim is the best Robin by FARRRRR. The dynamic between Bruce and Tim is unmatched, but Dick takes 2nd place.
Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing
But seriously Vee, you keep putting out content like this and you'll probably become a lot of people's favorite TH-camr!
Honestly I love all the Robin's except Tim. That kid is like TV static, in that he has no flaws, is super smart and perfect. Maybe do a video on him and explain his appeal one day. But sure:Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing!
When you said TV static I thoufht you meant like TV Static like Static Shock and I was gonna come lookin for smoke 😂
Dick Grayson funny enough is that description you gave
The appeal was he was a normal kid who stepped up because Batman needed a Robin. And he proved Robin could be effective with and without Batman.
Keep this train rolling
0:04 doesnt make sense joker would reveal jason's name in front of everyone. It would make everyone know who batman is by association
Yes we need more about Jason todd
Vee requested so I shall deliver. "Jason Todd's dead and I can't stop laughing" I shall await your next video. Keep it up bro let the algorithm do it's thing when the time is right
It would be cool to see The Red Hood and deathstroke in some material together . Either Rivals or an Anti-hero Duo
Imagine if Jason Todd found out that the reason he was tortured and killed by the Joker was just because people voted for it.
He definitely had noticeable issues that needed to be dealt with, and his death and resurrection ended up only exacerbated a lot of the shit he was dealing with
Sure Jason had his issues and slight outbursts when he was Robin, but most of the time he was a good kid, and was a competent Robin.
I appreciate the David borianaz love
Keep them coming
He never was my favorite Robin (I just prefer the original, even if he eventually surpassed that), but I never really understand the hate he did get, because he was just a flawed hero and then an antihero to me. Even Batman isn't flawless, far from it. Our flaws are what makes us human...
Yeah that’s the part that’s so heartbreaking and emotional about Jason’s fall from grace. Even though people try to disingenuously characterize him differently nowadays, Jason was overall a good and compassionate kid with a big heart, but that big heart definitely extended further into other darker regions as well. He definitely had noticeable issues that needed to be dealt with, and his death and resurrection ended up only exacerbated a lot of the shit he was dealing with
Loved the video, Vee! I've always loved Jason as long as I can remember too and forever look forward to seeing him more in other media, like High Top Films's upcoming fan film!
Jason Todd's Dead and I can't stop Laughing!
PLEASE DO HIS RETURN AS RED HOOD. I'VE BEEN ACHING FOR A JASON TODD CHARACTER STUDY.
Also, So Jason is basically If Damian Wayne if he had better writing.
"jason todds dead and i can't stop laughing" i love red hood and would love a video about him from you
You know when I read the
Comic when Jason was a Robin a lot of people say stuff about Jason that is ln’t true like he only a punk like we all know Jason was a scrappy kid. he had a shitty dad, a drug addict mom, and spent a few years alone on the streets. this hardened Jason and gave him a ferocity he didn’t have before. But he was more than that he was a Nerd. sweetheart. he had a passion for heroism and encapsulated everything that Robin is supposed to stand for. He also had his dark moment-like tendency to get violent went provoked.
My favourite character in the batfamily is dick Grayson but Jason is my favourite robin
Yes !! He is the best one just pure swag!!!!!
I ❤️ this video and channel
