The men leading the march at 1:52 and 1:54 are Param Vir Chakra (PVC) awardees Yogendra Singh Yadav and Sanjay Kumar. PVC is India’s highest wartime gallantry award and they won those medal for their bravery in the Kargil War. There have been only 21 awardees of PVC since its inception and 14 of them were awarded posthumously. They all have a statute dedicated to them in the National War Memorial. There is also a tradition in the Indian armed forces that no matter what your designation, soldier will always salute a PVC awardee. They are once in a generation kind of men.

The medals - Param Vir Chakra, translated as forever and universally courageous, only 21 Param Vir Medals have been awarded since 1947
The stories of the courageous soldiers who have been adorned by this medal are incredible, if interested there is a book "Param vir" about the medal and its recipients

The officers' march raising their knees is only for going down or up steps. They are the President's ADCs. The horse guards in Red uniform who accompany the President are the President's Bodyguards (PBG) who are highly trained professional soldiers. The commander leading the parade is of Lt. Gen. rank, GOC Delhi area, followed by his deputy, a Major General. The two soldiers following them are the only living 'Param Vir Chakra' winners (our country's highest award for Gallantry in War).

    Delhi Republic Day parade
Main article: Delhi Republic Day parade
The Delhi Republic Day parade is held in the capital, New Delhi, and is organized by the Ministry of Defence. Commencing from the gates of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (the President's residence), Raisina Hill on Kartavya Path the India Gate, this event is the extravagant attraction of India's Republic Day Celebrations and lasts for three days. The parade showcases India's Defence Capability and cultural and Social Heritage.[9] Nine to twelve different regiments of the Indian Army in addition to the Navy, and Air Force with their bands march past in all their finery and official decorations. The President of India who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Indian Armed Forces, takes the salute. Twelve contingents of various para-military forces of India and police forces also take part in this parade.

India achieved independence from the British Raj on 15 August 1947 following the success of the Indian independence movement. The independence came through the Indian Independence Act of 1947 (10 & 11 Geo 6 c 30), an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom that partitioned British India into the two new independent Dominions of the British Commonwealth (later Commonwealth of Nations).[2] India became a constitutional monarchy with George VI as head of state and Earl Mountbatten as governor-general. The country, though, did not yet have a permanent constitution; instead, its laws were based on the modified colonial Government of India Act 1935.
On 29 August 1947, a resolution was moved for the appointment of a Drafting Committee, which was appointed to draft a permanent constitution, with Dr B R Ambedkar as chairman. A draft constitution was prepared by the committee and submitted to the Constituent Assembly on 4 November 1947.[3] The Assembly met for 166 days in public sessions spanning two years, 11 months, and 17 days before adopting the Constitution. The 308 members of the Assembly signed two handwritten copies of the document (one in Hindi and one in English) on 24 January 1950, after much deliberation and some changes.[4] Two days later, 26 January 1950, it came into effect throughout the whole nation. While India's Independence Day celebrates its freedom from British Rule, the Republic Day celebrates the coming into force of its constitution. On that day, Dr Rajendra Prasad began his first term of office as President of the Indian Union. The Constituent Assembly became the Parliament of India under the transitional provisions of the new Constitution.
On November 25, 1949, in his final speech to the Constituent Assembly, Dr Ambedkar remarked about the potential and pitfalls of life after January 26, 1950:
On the 26th of January 1950, we are going to enter into a life of contradictions. In politics we will have equality and in social and economic life we will have inequality. In politics we will be recognising the principle of one man one vote and one vote one value. In our social and economic life, we shall, by reason of our social and economic structure, continue to deny the principle of one man one value. How long shall we continue to live this life of contradictions? How long shall we continue to deny equality in our social and economic life? If we continue to deny it for long, we will do so only by putting our political democracy in peril. We must remove this contradiction at the earliest possible moment or else those who suffer from inequality will blow up the structure of political democracy which this Assembly has so laboriously built up.

India's Republic Day: What You Need To Know
    When is India's Republic Day?
Indian Republic Day falls on January 26 every year.
    What is India's Republic Day?
Republic Day is one of three Indian national holidays and it commemorates the enactment of the constitution of India, which occurred on January 26, 1950. India achieved independence from Britain on August 15, 1947 (which is celebrated as a separate national holiday), but for its first three years, the country remained governed largely by the Colonial Government of India Act of 1935.
Shortly after independence was declared, a constituent assembly elected by provincial assemblies went about drafting a constitution that would govern the newly independent nation. After more than two years, the constitution of India was completed and solidified the establishment of India’s independent democratic government. January 26 was chosen as the official enactment date as a nod to the Purna Swaraj (complete self-rule) declaration of independence by the Indian National Congress in 1930 - considered the first concrete step toward independence from Britain.
With the 1950 constitution, the country was officially known as the Republic of India - a “sovereign socialist secular democratic republic” that “secures all its citizen's justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity,” according to its preamble.
How is India's Republic Day Celebrated?
The main event for the holiday is a massive parade held in the capital of New Delhi, which includes cultural, historical, and military displays. The parade is preceded by the prime minister laying a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti - an arched war memorial - and taking a moment of silence to commemorate fallen soldiers.
Smaller parades, cultural programs, public celebrations, and private parties take place throughout the country, as most businesses, schools, and government offices are closed. The festivities officially come to a close on January 29 with the Beating Retreat Ceremony in New Delhi, where bands from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force perform.

Republic Day marks the adoption of India's constitution and the country's transition to a republic on January 26, 1950. Every year, the celebrations marking the day feature spectacular military and cultural pageantry. In New Delhi, armed forces personnel march along the Kartavya path in an elaborate display of military might. The epic show on Kartavya path eclipses everything else happening across the country on this auspicious day.
The celebrations, inaugurated with a grand parade, are held in the capital, New Delhi, from Raisina Hill near the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's House), along the Kartavya path, past India Gate and onto the historic Red Fort. On this day, ceremonious parades take place at the Kartavya path, which is performed as a tribute to India, its unity in diversity and its rich cultural heritage by the states of India by building beautiful tableaus.

The main Republic Day celebration is held in the national capital, New Delhi, at the 'Kartavya Path, before the President of India. On this day, ceremonious parades take place at the Kartvya path, which is performed as a tribute to India; its unity in diversity, and rich cultural heritage.

I think the masks are for covid ....Those choppers were Chinook and Dhruva for transport , Rudra transport but armed with air to air missiles, and a 50 caliber GPMG , Ground attack helicopters Mi 24 Hind (Indian version of Russian MI 35) but now in 2023 we added two other attack helicopters Apache and our own "Prachand" which are very effecting in the high altitude warfare ....... Those motorcyclists showing stunts are carrying the tradition of the British era. during British rule in India, the signals core of the British army used to perform these stunts for entertainment purposes and for the daredevil act as well. After Britts left, the tradition is still going on as the Republic Day parade is not only showing the military might. many civilians especially children are also watching this parade so whenever these motorcycle daredevils show their stunts in public children are filled with excitement and joy watching this. I remember when I was a kid I used to wait for these people. This used to be my 2nd best part of the whole parade after the airshow. That's why they are still continuing this tradition.😊

Republic Day is the day when the Republic of India marks and celebrates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950. This replaced the Government of India Act 1935 as the governing document of India, thus turning the nation from a dominion into a republic separate from the British Raj. The constitution was adopted by the Indian Constituent Assembly on 26 November 1949 and came into effect on 26 January 1950. 26 January was chosen as the date for Republic Day as it was on that day in 1930 when the Declaration of Indian Independence was proclaimed by the Indian National Congress.
