It was exactly two months ago in June, I literally accidentally had my Canon EOS 80D mounted with a Canon 18-135mm lens DROPPED very very hard on the cement floor! OMG! I thought it was over, and I might need to buy a new camera again. Guess what? When I picked up the camera, it was still in one piece, only left with a hardly noticeable scuff on the rim of the lens barrel tip, while at that moment I didn't even have any of the lens cap, lens hood, or the UV filter put on. I immediately turned on the camera and put my fingers crossed. The accident didn't seem to hurt the camera and the lens a tiny bit, and I rapidly took a few photos to test whether the camera and the lens were still working. OMG again! The LCD display screen showed the pictures I just took, as well as all the photos that I took previously during my vacation trip. All the photos remained sharp and beautiful! Ever since that accident, I still continue to shoot more sharp and beautiful photos every day. Thank you Canon, you made such a durable and reliable camera. Excellent job, well done, Canon! @@Zain09921 Hi, the 80D is still better as it has a better shutter speed, battery life, and weather sealing, but if you want to shoot video then maybe the 77D is better as it has video stabilization.

We currently use the Audio Technica System 10 wireless Lav system and it's connected directly to the camera. We don't record to an external device. I set the camera's mic level manually to the lowest possible setting where the peaks are falling about -12db and push the gain from the receiver

For being sold as an omni, its off-axis rejection is quite good in your videos; very cardioid. If that's the mic you're using, I feel even better about the System 10 setups I own. :-)

Thank you for response! I can not understand why they excluded taking pictures in video mode from newer cameras (my 200D also lacks it). It is so convenient in wild situations! 70D has both AI Servo and Continuous AF and these are not the same. All right, let's put the question another way: can 80D track your face in live view during 10sec timer already counting down? 70D can do it (if Continuous AF is enabled in the menu), so distant selfie is not a problem. My little 200D can not do that (freezes AF after the timer starts). What's the 80D behaviour and how is it controlled?
As long as you have face detect + Tracking set as your AF mode with continuous AF the camera should keep you in focus. Face detection works best when the subjects face is relatively close to the lens, so you can't expect it to work well if you are 25 to 30 feet away.
+Digital Goja The distance is the obvious factor, I do not take it into account. The question was if 80D continues to focus and refocus on the subject while timer is already ticking out. 70D can do it and it also can be turned off (freeze focus after the timer starts, like 200D does).

Very informative video. I want to buy this camera to record video, so I need a clarification. The video recording duration limit is set at 30 minutes. If the battery is fully charged, and if I have a 64gb SDXC card, will the camera allow me to record 3 parts of 30-mins videos one after the other (totally 1 1/2 hour of recording)? If I recharge the battery fully again, will the camera allow me to record another 1 1/2 hour (in another 3 parts of 30 mins each)? Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi, you can record as many clips, up to 29 minutes and 59 seconds, as the battery allows you to. That will mostly depend on the settings that you are using for video as some of them drain the battery quicker, however, it should be possible to shoot for 1h and 30 minutes without a problem.
Depends on how much space you have. Because of the APS-C sensor you have a crop factor of 1.6 - you have to multiply the focal lenght of a lens x1.6. The (very good) 50mm lens will become a 85mm, which is bad if you wanna shot in small rooms. I love the 50mm for outdoor but indoor I use the 40mm or sometimes I even need a 35mm or 24mm.

I think for wildlife and sports you would normally want a much longer focal length. The Canon EF-S 55-250 mm F4-5.6 IS STM is a good choice for wildlife and outdoor sports, if you have a limited budget. For indoor sports you may want a lens with a much wider maximum aperture, which will unfortunately make it less budget friendly.
My 80D only lets me record video for 30 minutes with a 32gb sd card. No, it doesnt stop in 30 minutes. The whole card only give me 30 minutes worth of footage. Do you know how to fix that? Yes I have formatted the camera. I've used different 32gb sd cards and they all hold 30 minutes. HELP PLZ

Hola, yo tengo el canon 80D, to hago tutoriales DIY y no entiendo porque cada vez que lo tengo en manual mode los colores se vuelven pálidos, le muevo varias cosas pero los colores siguen sin verse vívidos tal y como lo ven mis ojos, y cuando lo pongo en auto mode los colores cambian un poco y además tiende a verse con menos iliminaciòn de la que en realidad hay. Otra cosita, cuando hago DIY, tiendo a trabajar con distintos obajetos a la vez lo cual dificulta el enfoque ya que por lo general mis manos casi siempre intervienen y terminan en primer plano desenfocando lo que realmente quiero mostrar, como podria corregir eso? Hi Vero, we would suggest you to use auto white balance in manual mode, the changes you see in the colors could be affected by that, also please let us know which lens you are using so we can try to help with the second problem.

Hi Andrew, it should just start a new video file and depending on the settings it should be able to take up to 1 hour of video at least.

After researching and recently buying the 80d, this camera body is a magnesium body with polycarbonate exterior.

Can only film for 29:59 minutes? I bought a 80D so I could make some video longer than 30 minutes. I never heard such a stupid restriction from other manufacturers.
All the DSLR manufacturers have that limit, as shooting for more than 30 minutes would classify them as camcorders.
Wow ok. :( But since DSLR are slowly replacing camcorders, they should remove that limit.
That would raise their price as then they would fall into the camcorder category too.
I don't think the price will increase. They're still not cheap. The Canon Vixia HF G40 is cheaper than my 80D.

It is great with the 80D and it will provide you with some great long-range shots.
Mornin sir , in canon 80d when i take continuos shot after few shot the speed gets slow n on lcd its say busy..my memory card is ultra 32 sdhc I 80mb/s what is the problem sir
