    Whipped up this video kinda showing a time-lapse build of my Captain America shield from 2012. Could not have done this without the help of the awesome people that contribute to the Replica Prop Forum (therpf.com), with special thanks going to Valor. The gentleman in the photograph with me at the end is Allen Bellman, an artist who worked on the original Captain America comics back in the 19040's. He was kind enough to sign my shield last year at the 2012 Florida Supercon. The Captain America helmet was from the amazing artists at PeruProps. And yes, the music is from the movie Captain America: The First Avenger. Edit: I was fortunate enough to have Stan "the man" Lee himself sign my shield at the 2014 MegaCon in Orlando. What a thrill!
    PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS SHIELD IS NOT FOR SALE AND THAT I DO NOT HAVE ANY PLANS TO MAKE MORE.
    The shield is made out of aluminum. I purchased the blank shield on eBay. It was already cut with the circles carved into it. If you cannot find one on eBay, I do not know where else you can find one.
    For more info on how to build and paint your own Captain America shield, check out the many build threads by the talented people over at the Replica Prop Forum. You may have to register and sign it to see it, but here is an interesting thread on painting the shield: www.therpf.com/...

    The blank aluminum shield was purchased on eBay. It was around $200 if I recall. Once you are registered at the RPF, you should be able to use the search function. Use key words like "Captain America shield" and "build" and you'll find them. Trust me.

  • @tobythesuperaussie
    @tobythesuperaussie  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Well, since Vibranium is a little bit hard to find, I had to settle for aluminum. So no, it will not deflect bullets. However, the shield I made is pretty heavy and solid. It's not a toy. I bought a blank aluminum shield on eBay and went on from there. I blank aluminum shield alone costs about $200. If that is too much, you do as others have done, and try making one out of round snow sled.
