Decided to level herb on my rogue. I followed this guide to solo-farm blood scythe. I got the blood scythe in my very first hoodoo pile lmao. I feel bad for everyone saying it took like 30 hoodoo piles.
As a rogue you can also pick up the third pile behind the temple using the same tactic that's used in the video: 1) aggro the mob group from the same level (1st) 2) sprint+evasion back to the third level and jump to 2nd resetlevel when they are close 3) go loot the pile as soon youre out of combat and go back stealth :)
Hey Battlehummel. We didn't because it is only reliably doable with movement boosts. Sprint/dash/aspect/pet/blink. If you have one of those, you can: 1) be on ground level in the NW corner 2) shoot the closest panther (from 30yrds though) 3) hug the base of the temple - we are heading for front steps 4) when you get to the front corner, you need have something to dodge or distract the pack which will aggro. As a rogue/druid, use sprint. Mage's blink. Hunter/lock send pet in. 5) get to top of stairs and run to back of temple - you'll aggro the mobs at the top so you won't be able to hang around for long 6) jump down to middle level, wait for de-aggro 7) loot - should be plenty of time Good luck!
Oof hard to remember after so long! I think it is out the back (I think North on map). From the second level/safe zone, head out the back, pull with bow, sprint to front, jump down, wait a bit (too fast and they reset) then kite them all the way up top and jump off the back, vanish, loot,
Hey , thanks for your very well made video ! I had a question about how does the reset of the instance work , since it's on a 3 days reset timer , does it mean that you can still reset for the voodoo piles / herbs nodes 5 times an hour ???
Thanks, so glad you liked it! Great question. If you kill a boss, you will get "saved" and then locked to the 3 day raid reset. If you are not saved, you can reset it like a normal instance - which is the 5 times an hour. Good luck!
Hey, actually found an easier way to do this (by way of failing at your method): The first set of Adders that you jump past, just jump in the water. You can swim across to the Blood Isle, and jump up before the Crocs spawn without aggroing them. If you do it right, you'll take a hit or two from the fish but thats it.
This is a great find. I will try it out today. Someone else pointed out that you can use the river on the right (at the start) as well. Check the start of the mining vid, if you like: th-cam.com/video/Gmqja0BggL8/w-d-xo.html

In die Zukunft yeah it is in that same place. There is a pile on the left and right as shown in the video and then another in the back behind the altar.
For Mages. You can do this deathless and get another pile behind the temple. When you drop aggro, drop down, insta blink, loot and run behind the temple.
Awesome, thank you Niklas. I added some bullet points for mages/locks/hunters/druids/rogues under @Battlehummel's comment, if anyone else is interested in the back pile.
I don't think so... even when I have vanished it has MC'd me back over to the pile. If you do it with a friend, sometimes they get MC'd which is okay if they are on the safe ledge.
Hey! We did a guildrun 00-02 (EU, CET), then I've been doing 5 hours straight of this on my rogue alt (current time is 06:52 CET). 46 looted Hoodo Piles, 21 dolls, but no Blood Scythe. Could there have been a change so that you cannot loot it when in a 2man raid group? Edit: It may be worth mentioning we got 3 Blood Scythe from 5 Hoodo Piles in the guild run which is a slightly higher quota. Haha.
Oh that is brutal! I got mine on the very first pile in a 2man raid today. I have it recorded and the time was 08:13am AEST, which is 00:13am CET. *EDIT:* Just went and looted 4 more piles and got another, so we are now 2 Blood Scythes from 5 Hoodoo Piles today. That does sound super strange though so maybe something else is going on?

Yeah totally - as long as you aren't already saved. Given that you have to convert your party to a raid to enter in the first place, just log off and get the other person in your party to "Reset All Instances". You can do this 5 times per hour - remember that resetting is account wide though. If you are already saved, some of the piles can respawn - apparently it can be as little as an hour later for respawns to start.

Hey, managed to do it by getting in a panther's aggro radius, you just need to stand on the edge of the wooden platform (the second one) and wait for the panther to move around. For the second pile though you need to use Holy Shock if you have specced into it
Hi, yes it does seem a bit trickier for Pallies! Zakirio's suggestion is great, and some other people have suggested Linken's Boomerang, Magic Candle, EZ Throw Dynamite, and engineering grenades. Hope this helps!
Good question Proxsea! It’s so hard to know ahead of time without knowing the price of Bloodvine. I think it will be more sought after than in Vanilla, but there will be many more people farming it. Mage croc farming looks really promising too (assuming it doesn’t get nerfed).
Thanks for the feedback! Are you talking about the first or second pile? On the first one I had to jump over the wall and onto the ledge on the other side to get this to work - but it works good :)
Hey, I got tagged in ZG. Yet we skipped many skull pils including the three around the Temple which I solo farmed using your method. Thanks. Do you have any idea if they will respawn in some hours (how many?) just like the trash and possibly the plants (I have seen one we collected yesterday be back this morning). Thanks!
Hey James, thanks for the info! I didn’t know that the herbs could respawn. ZG reset recently so it could have been that too? I haven’t verified it myself yet but someone mentioned that the Hoodoo Piles can respawn - not sure on timer though. Thanks for the feedback! :)
@@DaintreeRogue I just did verify. It appears that after (approx.) 1 hour with no one inside, some plants, veins, skulls (and trashs) are back! So even with an ID, I can do 1 run per hour to pray for my scythe! =)
Hey ThermoPhile! It was recorded on the official PTR the day before it was taken down, and we are double-checking everything right now in the live release. All good so far!
Yep pretty much what CoachSully44 said - thanks :) Although, someone else did say that after some time (1hr +) some piles and herbs can respawn. Don't know if it is everything, or if there is rng - but you could always check in every now and again.
Are you having trouble with the East or West pile? After shooting from the safe spot, you need to jump down within a few seconds or they will reset. In the vid I always jump to the ground and run up again to the top. Gl!
Hey Phillewee, yeah any class can loot the Hoodoo Piles. The piles are not related to herbalism - they just have a decent chance to drop the Blood Scythe (which I think trash mobs can drop as well, but just small %). Edit: I am a bit hazy on the Voodoo Dolls and the AH - can't quite remember. They are unique (can only hold one of each class) but I think you can list them on the AH. I might have to confirm once live.
@@DaintreeRogue it worked like charm, but do you know how long time it takes until the piles respawn ? also is there any other piles that are easy to farm as a Rogue ?
@@phillewee Excellent! Glad it worked. The piles probably won't respawn - you will need to reset the instance. We are working on a rogue video now - it opens up some more piles, but we also lose access to a few. Overall it is a LOT harder. But stay tuned :)
Hey Zaiatspro. You can either log off that character for more than 5 minutes and when you log back in you will be at the start of the instance - run out and reset. Otherwise, you can ask a friend to reset you (inv them to raid, promote them to leader, you log off, they reset, you log back in). Make sure you aren't already saved to ZG though!
Hey Ivan. First you need to make sure that you aren't locked to the instance (that is, make sure you haven't killed any bosses - check you Raid Info tab). If you aren't "saved", you can simply run out, hit "Reset all Instances" (right-click your portrait) and that should work. You can also get a friend who is not saved to reset you - just log out wherever you are in ZG, and once you are out, they will be able to reset. Log back in and you will be at the entrance in a fresh instance. GL!
@@scrimptv2783 Have you cleared ZG recently? Or grouped (and converted to raid) with someone that has? If your Raid Info tab doesn't say anything, or is greyed out, there is no reason why the instance shouldn't reset. Can't think why else sorry - working fine on our end :)
Great question! The Punctured Voodoo Dolls are used for class-specific ZG quests - any type can drop from the piles so you might have to farm a bit before you get a Voodoo Doll for your class. For example, Rogues can hand in their Voodoo Doll along with a Primal Hakkari Idol to get a head/leg enchant: classic.wowhead.com/quest=8186/deaths-embrace Or, harder to get, is a trinket: classic.wowhead.com/item=19954/renatakis-charm-of-trickery

Hey Blake, there are definitely no new packs compared to the PTR - the above video is still 100% correct. There are a number of pats around the temple - sometimes you just need to wait a little :) We haven't failed once today. Good luck!
@@skeleton4444444 It is a bit tricky - you need to use the middle ledge to get out of combat. The mobs will de-aggro when you are on the middle ledge. 1) pull mobs to top 2) wait for as long as possible 3) jump down to middle ledge 4) WAIT! @@DaintreeRogue Yup, i've noticed the piles respawning aswell! Ty for the advice tho!
@@steenf0rce Awesome, thanks for confirming :)
That stealth cat got me and I about shit myself.
Hahaha actual lol. It got me twice in a row last night when I had the sound way up...
Hi , any tips or help for a paladin? i can"t pull monsters from 40y when im at the top of the pyramid , is there another method i could use ? thanks !
I use holy shock as a holy paladin, it has just enough range to hit it from the wooden platform).
Boomerang from Linken?
@@aleskrivecphotography8470 Nice one, thanks :)
second pile for me. I'd say the easiest route is to jump down into the water on the left at the entrance
Nice one! Yep, definitely easier than threading the needle on the snakes and axethrowers!
Would you say this is more efficient stealthing and herbing for bloodvine or mages aoe croc farm?2
Good question Proxsea! It’s so hard to know ahead of time without knowing the price of Bloodvine. I think it will be more sought after than in Vanilla, but there will be many more people farming it.
Mage croc farming looks really promising too (assuming it doesn’t get nerfed).
@@DaintreeRogue Yeah man I feel like with gold making methods now gold is a lot more attainable so it should be worth a lot.
you don't have to take of gear, just jump ontop of the ledge when you looted the pile
Thanks for the feedback! Are you talking about the first or second pile? On the first one I had to jump over the wall and onto the ledge on the other side to get this to work - but it works good :)
do you have to do this only on reset? or is there a way to get the piles back?
If you aren’t saved (no bosses killed) you can reset ZG like any other instance.
Spend 1 hour getting two dolls. Then I figured out they are 2 gold each in AH lul
Thanks for this info. Can confirm this also is for SOD.
@@localstavanger2682 shaman doll 230g right now
You might want to keep your boots, for faster running. it's not expensive to repair just boots.
Train 4 Beast this is an excellent idea - thanks for the tip!
I tried hitting the panther but I'm not getting aggro and they're just evading :s. I think they patched it or something.
Was doing this for hours today - no patches :)
Watch the vid closely - you aggro them and then jump down. The middle ledge is an evade spot.
@@DaintreeRogue TY for the clarification. Great Video btw!
@@jamesfarinha4432 This is awesome. Will give it a go once once I'm locked again. Thanks for the update!
first try! tyvm sir
Awesome! Same here :D
more fakelaughs than in an episode of tonight show with jimmy fallon
was this done on pservers or on official ptr?
Hey ThermoPhile! It was recorded on the official PTR the day before it was taken down, and we are double-checking everything right now in the live release. All good so far!
If I did the raid already and try to do this wilk the herbs still reset when I reset? It’s looking like you can’t
If you have a raid ID, trash mobs will respawn but herbs/voodoo piles will not
Yep pretty much what CoachSully44 said - thanks :) Although, someone else did say that after some time (1hr +) some piles and herbs can respawn. Don't know if it is everything, or if there is rng - but you could always check in every now and again.
okej... so open 2 on my mage and go it... now on druid 4 resets notrhing.. opening all 3 piles :(
That's a little unlucky :( Keep at it, it'll come. Thanks for the update!
What do you do when this thing bug? Because sometimes, when shooting at the mobs, they just stand there and then reset.
Are you having trouble with the East or West pile? After shooting from the safe spot, you need to jump down within a few seconds or they will reset. In the vid I always jump to the ground and run up again to the top. Gl!
@@DaintreeRogue I solved the issue by just going back to the stairs. By they way. there are 4 piles you can get. And if you're a rogue you can get 5.
Awesome, glad you sorted it :) Which extra piles did you manage to solo?
@@DaintreeRogue All 3 in Tiger Palace.
@@xXxSwecopzxXx Oh sweet. Ive done the one with all the tigers next to tiger boss, but not the other two - will give them a go. Thanks!
Thanks for the vid, tried with Paladin but seems like you would need an extra range ability (like Holy Shock) to do the second pile.
Hey thank you :) Oh no! I forgot pallies were a bit limited in that department. Glad you were still able to get one - thanks for the feedback.
Linken's boomerang?
Ez throw dynamite. Or if you're an eng any bomb will work.
As paladin u have to get the candles vom the elwyn forrest, its a small fireball cast -> ranged pull for pallys
@@Genoz1d Perfect! Great idea, thank you for the tip.
What addon is that for the map?
The map in the video is a video overlay, not from in-game. It's also taken from retail so it's not quite the same - good enough hopefully!
do you need to be herbalism to loot the hexxar piles or any class can loot the piles ? also is the doll BoP or is it BoE so u can sell it on AH ?
@@phillewee Not sure if you saw this either - we did a solo rogue vid too: th-cam.com/video/w1e5JKSgi2s/w-d-xo.html
Daintree Rogue seen it ty :)
How to resp all herbs?
Hey Zaiatspro. You can either log off that character for more than 5 minutes and when you log back in you will be at the start of the instance - run out and reset. Otherwise, you can ask a friend to reset you (inv them to raid, promote them to leader, you log off, they reset, you log back in). Make sure you aren't already saved to ZG though!
What map addon are you using?
It's actually my girlfriend's video editing and it's not available in-game, unfortunately - but she is stoked that you like it ;)
Got lucky on my first pile, took 3 tries to get there
Edit: Disc Priest
Hey Steve, that's great! Thanks for letting us know. Hope the farming goes well for you...
cool dude, subbed
Ledge, thank you so much!
How do you reset?
GL!
Does this lock you to this instance?
Nope, not at all! Loot the piles that you can and reset away!
Thanks man was trying to figure out the best way to do this? Anyone know if this works on live?
Thanks, hope it helps! We tested it yesterday and picked up 2 Blood Scythes off 5 nodes - so can confirm it's working in live (phew!)
@@DaintreeRogue Any idea why I can't get the hoodoo piles to respawn? This is great for farming them but they wont come back after reset :(
@@scrimptv2783 Have you cleared ZG recently? Or grouped (and converted to raid) with someone that has? If your Raid Info tab doesn't say anything, or is greyed out, there is no reason why the instance shouldn't reset. Can't think why else sorry - working fine on our end :)
@@DaintreeRogue Oh yeah I am using an ID that I had cleared earlier with a group. So I need to be in a fresh one with all bosses spawned then?
@@scrimptv2783 Yeah, sadly. At least it is a 3 day reset rather than a week though!
has anyone tried this as a tauren?
Worked for me.
Hey ThatGuyInACU - thanks for confirming! Glad it worked for you.
If it didnt you can use noggenfogger or savory deviate delight.
Those Voodoo, what you do with them
Great question! The Punctured Voodoo Dolls are used for class-specific ZG quests - any type can drop from the piles so you might have to farm a bit before you get a Voodoo Doll for your class.
For example, Rogues can hand in their Voodoo Doll along with a Primal Hakkari Idol to get a head/leg enchant: classic.wowhead.com/quest=8186/deaths-embrace
Or, harder to get, is a trinket: classic.wowhead.com/item=19954/renatakis-charm-of-trickery
I jump into the water to the west side and then I just play frogger all the way to the right.
Awesome - thanks for the tip! You can use the river on the right at the start too (check start of thorium farm vid to see: th-cam.com/video/Gmqja0BggL8/w-d-xo.html )

Yeah, wait and watch pats. You can get in.
Yes, it is rather annoying! If you have an epic mount you can afford to aggro a pat or two - just don't go near beserkers. You should make it to the temple with enough time.

@@DaintreeRogue Well i got a bloodvine from my first node so yh its going great! :)
Doesn’t work anymore, panther pack added to prevent pulling from the top of the temple
Hey Blake, there are definitely no new packs compared to the PTR - the above video is still 100% correct. There are a number of pats around the temple - sometimes you just need to wait a little :) We haven't failed once today. Good luck!
@@DaintreeRogue I tried it 30min ago but i cant loot the scrap piles while im in combat, how to do this then? thanks
@@skeleton4444444 same problem..
@@skeleton4444444 It is a bit tricky - you need to use the middle ledge to get out of combat. The mobs will de-aggro when you are on the middle ledge.
1) pull mobs to top
2) wait for as long as possible
3) jump down to middle ledge
4) WAIT! Wait until you see the mobs start to reset - this is when you exit combat (turn on floating combat text to see when this happens)
5) Jump down and loot!
