“Toi et Moi” is pronounced "twa eh mwah" in French. It means "you and me." “Tamaya” was a famous fireworks manufacturer in medieval Japan. The word evokes images of summer festivals.
Another unusual thing---Kanami is often in my *left* ear. She moves all around, rather than being panned mostly or only to the right. The new songs on the Album seem well and creatively produced.
Magie, Letters to You, Tamaya had Saiki as the lyrcist. Looks like she's getting her hands dirty with writing lyrics. The songs she writes the lyrics for feel more gritty haha. All for it
Forbidden Tale is like Sense, Influencer, and Giovanni had a baby. Great song and fantastic example of BMs “sneaky prog” writing. Needed to be twice as long though.
I agree so much. They don’t disappoint me with anything they do but I can be disappointed they haven’t broken the 6 minute mark yet in all their career. It might be more than what you’re talking about, but Kamami has a 15-20 minute epic in her, I just know it. And I’d love to hear it!
This album kicks arse (we Australians say arse not ass! Lol) If Unseen World and Conquerer had a baby it would be Epic Narratives. Amazing song writing and beautiful melodies and in your face balls to the wall hard rock mixed with beefy production. Definitely my favourite but everything they release is pure gold. All songs are fantastic but Forbidden Tail , Toi et moi, Letter to You are my faves right now…thats gonna change after few listens.

It‘s a great album - again and feels a bit in the tradition of Conquerer to me with it’s collection of very different types of songs. Some will unfold their full beauty after a few listen like e.g. Wonderland on Conqueror. I need for sure more listenings to get a full perspective, but it’s already up there with the best albums of them so far. But, I discovered a new trinity of holy f**** already: „toi et moi“, „TAMAYA!“ and „Get to the top“ are absolutely insane and some of the most masterful composed pieces of them IMHO. I still rank „From now on“ slightly above „Get to the top“ but really not much. Excellent over all … Maids, what else.

I was there, too. We were asked if we knew new song. We shouted, "SHAM-BLES!" I think the first live performance was a few days later. Cool that the first live performance was in the USA, though! Sadly, BAND-MAID could not be saved from KFC. We tried.
At least it wasn't White Castle. They debuted Shambles at Aces in Sacramento. I think they chose there in remembrance of their first show in US after the pandemic at the Aftershock festival in Sacramento.
My copy hasn't been sent yet (my guess is it will be in a couple of hours as a-zon Japan doesn't tend to ship early), so I am going to hold off. I am starting to get worried that there is something wrong with the order (that I placed a couple of months ago). Let's hope all is well, it probably is, I will probably just have to wait until early next week.

Most of the new ones sounds have the very BM blend of chaos that some times they are too jarring for me to take in. At least that's for me in many BM songs until I have a chance to absorb the music after repeated playing. Most of these new songs will no doubt win me over after a few more hearing.
How have you already got your copy? I'm still waiting for mine. There was a press release saying it was taking more time than expected to ship the album. Did you get an early release? I'm so bummed! As a whole, the album seems to continue the "wall of sound" that they first seemed to embody around the time of "Sense". It's not terrible and it gives them some nice moments when they give it a rest during a song, but I still long for the simplicity of their earlier songs like "Freezer," "The Non-fiction Days" and "Alone." If only for one song, I wish they'd pare it back and do something simple but still rocking and even something bluesy. As for favorite songs, of the new ones I hadn't heard before, I liked "TAMAYA" when I listened on my stereo, but here with headphones, I liked "Toi et Moi" the best. Wasn't Kanami soloing between verses? That's a cool idea!
Buy the Blu-ray or DVD special edition with the Day of Maid concert. Best Band-Maid concert video yet, full of Unseen World and Unleash. Crazy killer concert.

It’s got good moments but it feels like too much chaos, I’d be happier with getting back to the Just Bring It/ World Domination style.

They still throw simple and mid-tempo element in their songs.
