Kanami Tono is an outstanding guitarist and composer writing complex detailed music that makes the most of the four hugely talented women she shares the stage with. She has no ego and composes music for Band Maid, not Kanami and her backing band - as some guitarists are prone to do.
For me her songwriting is the best I've heard in 40 years. It's rare to go through an artists albums and go "well I can't find a song I don't like". With input from Misa on bass and Akane on drums, each song is curated with care and attention to detail. It's the reason the running gag in the Band Maid fandom is that your favorite BM song is the one that's playing now.
These are just a selection of highlights. I tried to use as much live material as possible to get the point across. I apologize to all the BM fans for leaving the other 100 highlights out :) but I tried to keep it under 20 minutes. To truly appreciate her work visit: / @bandmaid

Kanamincho is a world treasure that brings music to new levels. Thanks for sharing these clips. I've seen Band-Maid 8 times and will never get tired of seeing them. I was lucky enough to catch Kanami's guitar pick at Day of Maid last month - that's something that I will always treasure!

Thank you so very much for Kanami's enjoyable highlight reel. Mincho is an extraordinary composer with a wide range of music from hard rock to sublime ballads and everything in between. The sheer number of the great compositions she has written is simply amazing and her ability to assimilate the input of her other bandmates to create spectacular music is incredible. Kanami is the driving force that pushes and encourages the other members to expand their own musicianship skills and inventiveness. Also, she has been the expert tutor of Miku, turning her from neophyte into a really good and reliable rhythm guitarist. Of course, Mincho lends her impressive guitar skills to the music she has written with the other members but always keeps in mind that her solos need only to be as long as the song itself dictates and she unselfishly shares the spotlight with the rest of Band-Maid's impressively talented lineup. It's rare to call anyone a true musical genius, but Kanami Tono really fits that description.

Thank you for this well thought out highlight reel. You’ve done a fantastic job of displaying not only the featured artist’s skills but their band mates as well. As another reactor has said, “Kanami is such a sweet soul” while being so humble (as each member of Band-Maid is) and a musical genius to produce such a extensive and varied musical catalog (along with her friends/sisters/ band mates) and it has “only” been ten years (2013 to 2023). I look forward to their future and the musical journey.
So many great songs too :) very few bands put out so many albums where everything is so listenable. Can't wait for the next album.... :)

Imo, Kanami is one of the greatest rock songwriters ever. Her music is so versatile, creative, interesting and fun. And as the band's sole songwriter and lead guitarist, she is insanely hardworking and prolific. On top of all that, Kanami's humility is rarefied stuff, and she is beloved by all. She's the golden goose of the band.
Agree...the fact that you can go through their catalogue and struggle to find a song you don't like is a testament to her ability. :)

Kanami is the student of great guitar gods of the 80s-90s. I grew up with this kind of hard rock/heavy metal music. That explains why I feel at home with Band-Maid's riffs and Kanami's solos.
Throw in the 70s guitar gods I grew up with too :) she can do anything...amazing talent.
