The ironic thing about blaster designs trending more "real steel" is how _vehemently_ against referring to blasters as guns the community was just 10 years ago
Love my Rat. For the price for what you get it's difficult to beat. Yes you need to get their own mags but on Monkee they're like £4 and with 3 mags as a side arm or pistol I don't feel under dressed, plus you can dart sweep during a match if need be. Haven't had a chance to use the holster on a belt yet but feels solid in a jeans pocket and doesn't snag on release. The additional spring gives it some extra punch and the iron sights work really well. Again for the price, love it, just a shame the additional metal parts are usually out of stock over on monkee. Love a weighted blaster to give that additional real steel effect. Orange all the way of course. Best secondary so far for me and I love my hammershot! Great review Drac, love the work
Definitely agree that a video on silhouettes and the hobby would be good. Would also like to see a discussion of suggested engagement ranges for different FPS ratings. I see a lot of FPS chasers out there when different FPS ranges are more or less appropriate for different arenas/areas or use cases. A high FPS sidearm for backup with issues with your high FPS primary would make a poor blaster for storming a defensive bunker, for instance, as you'd be just about point-blanking them in that setting.
It can, in fact, be slamfired if you want to. Also, the occasional failure to automatically lock forward usually means you need to adjust how tight the two screws going lengthwise are.
I swear this thing is Slam Fire... you need to try it... as for your slide not seating properly, try slightly loosening the 2 front muzzle screw a bit, they prevent full slide return if too tight. The problem is solved with the Metal Dart Gate as the screw "seats" in it.
Now that Worker's got their own slim pistol magazine with the Nightingale, I hope that becomes the standard for these mag-in-grip pistol blasters. Shame angled Talons didn't catch on more.
Hi i know nothing about mags so could you tell me is it a style thing(like you prefer angled) or does it have some advantages over straight mags? Honestly just curious not trying to start shit, again no next to nothing about the subject just recently getting into competitive nerfing.
I have no problem with it at all. If the blaster offers enough likable features, buying new mags is no problem for me whatsoever. They also allow the grip to be smaller so that’s a plus as well.
1:46 I've removed those "two detents" using an unfolded paper-clip with a heavy-handled object as a mallet. The pins holding the "two detents" are fiction-fit, just like all the other pins on the blaster. Just pay attention to how the springs are oriented underneath them in case you decide to put them back in. Priming the Firerat is so much faster with the "two detents" off. Aim, pull trigger, prime back, release and aim, pull trigger, prime back, release and aim ,etc. Slam-fire can be done while firing from the hip, too, although it's difficult to aim properly. The slide flexes, causing the dart to not feed into the barrel properly, so you need to prime straight back and push it straight forwards (and upward a little) again to fire while the trigger is pulled.
You didn't showcase one of the coolest features: If you prime it when the magazine is empty, the slide will stay to the rear - then you can reload, hit the release and fire!
Well it does take Nightingale magazines however you will have to do a slight bit of modification I do like that Blaster I have a smoke version of it it is so interesting that we basically have the same opinion on it just different color schemes LOL
Hi drac, I would love to see more top 5 Friday because I love it and I was coming up with some ideas and you can maybe do top 5 Nstrike blasters because there are some great blasts from the past and I thought it would be awesome to do one
I got my fire rat for free so the question is, are the upgraded parts worth investing in since they will be the only money I’d have invested in the blaster or keep it stock and completely free no money invested?
In Brisbane, my vendor at BlasterTech put a 3d-printed spacer into my FireRat when I ordered it. I had ordered it dis-assembled but, in that state, the slide is still fully assembled, so he had dis-assembled the slide to put this plastic tube in and re-assembled it before selling it to me. I trust him on that. The Firerat is supposed to do 105 feet per second stock. My Firerat must be doing 130fps at least, so it's a welcome modification. I don't need an upgraded spring now. There is the bearing SCAR barrel for better accuracy at the expense of some FPS, but this Firerat is damn accurate as it is. If you were to get the carbine kit for this, you would have the picatinny rail to mount a 3 degree angled picatinny riser (to compensate for the drop) and decent red dot sight. In that situation, the extra accuracy might be important. The metal upgrades are fairly expensive. Only the metal dart gate is ideal since this would probably be the first part to break from heavier springs/heavy usage. MonkeyMods have a complete disassembly video of the S200 Firerat and they call this part "the U-shaped bit".
ngl seems like a sick blaster, but I wonder if it's legal in australia because of how similar to a real gun it looks LOL probably would be with any of the brightly coloured clear ones
Your video is not even a day old and and the link doesn't show the blaster at all, just its accessories. I'd imagine if ones product is pitched one should find it easily through posted link. If they don't post the blaster anytime soon, what the price of it?
THe Fire Rat is a comfortable blaster, but its a peice of crap for holding a air seal, my club is full of them, and they all have the same problem, very poor air seals, and it needs contant pull downs to keep it working. I cant recommend this blaster at all, and I think the members at my club would agree that it seems attractive, but has become a hard pass for most people as its very unreliable.

Unfortunate.
The sci-fi shells are more fun, anyway.
I want to see more sci-fi-ish shells, even within airsoft and paintball.
Always has been, still is, and I hope it doesn't change.
@@typehere6689 agreed. I’ve been playing both for years and I’m beyond done with the same boring platforms, we need more unique/sci-fi pieces

The community needs to agree on one type of mag. It's to the point already that I have no interest in buying anything that doesn't use talon mag.
Now that Worker's got their own slim pistol magazine with the Nightingale, I hope that becomes the standard for these mag-in-grip pistol blasters. Shame angled Talons didn't catch on more.

@@graywolf1339 no
On some like the nightingale you cannot use straight ones only use angled ones
I tested the nightingale mags on the firerat, technically works, but it doesnt do the thjng that shows that it is out of ammo
Am I the only one that sees the irony in Drac pulling out the all black Pew Pew at the end of the vid?
Iirc that one is reserved for backyard plinking and he has a brightly colored one for public play
Am I the only one that was real excited before I heard "proprietary magazine"?
The new worker nightingale mags seem to fit the fire rat. Still am happy my gecko uses slanted talons.
The magazines are really cheap and honestly are better for it because it makes the grip much slimmer.
@@tummieboi Well, the magazines being half the price of actual talons does soften the blow a lot.
I have no problem with it at all. If the blaster offers enough likable features, buying new mags is no problem for me whatsoever. They also allow the grip to be smaller so that’s a plus as well.
trust me the grip on that thing is worth spending the $5 per magazine on these things

2:30 ... Well now we NEED the Nightingale: Bert Edition!

Release the Bert cut!
"And this kind of explains...... Nothing." Killed me.
That honestly looks like a combination between an P22 and a Desert Eagle
More like the p22 bc the slide

Hey dracs what if you make a video what is the best full length dart for people using a unmoded slingfire or a Roughcut
Question Drac, would this be a good blaster for me to Dual Wield?
I don’t think so
I think a video on silhouettes/coloring of nerf blasters is an important topic to talk about, hope you actually create the video.
Great review, keep it up 👍
I like pistols. This thing looks seriously legit.
Oohh pew pew holster
our soft bullets fit this toy very good.
Try the SP-50 nerf blaster or the JFIEEI RE-45 blaster
Both available on Amazon
RE-45 doesn't come anywhere close to the power of the S200
