  • We visited El Refugio de Colibries in Samaipata, Bolivia, the only dedicated hummingbird garden in the country. Saúl Arias and Elva Vallejos started with a few hummingbird feeders and ended up converting a cow pasture into a wild garden paradise for hummingbirds. We also spent a night in Refugio de los Volcanes, a little hideaway with stunning views.

I apologize that I accidentally referred to the beautiful Fork-tailed Woonymph as a Crowned Woodnymph in the video. Mea culpa!

No worries, Carol! Maybe your ‘faux pas’ was due to the time change? But more likely, it was due to that long, winding & “wicked ride’ through the wilderness! 😝

Just so long as you put up with my ID booboos. I don't begin to pretend I can remember all the bird names. I'm almost 72 years old.

Bolivia looks fantastic, I'm looking forward to visiting! I do wish Bolivia allowed more than a 30 day stay visa though.

It's amazing to see that refuge now after the property was a cow pasture and all they accomplished in those years! Bravo!! These are the humans we need more of on our planet. THEY CARE, just like you do Carole.
We can't wait for your next video, and thank you for sharing your photos with us all. You have a great camera!

No hummingbirds in the UK? I didn’t know that, what a shame 😢

Hummingbirds are only in the Americas: North, Central and South. There aren't even any in Hawaii.

I can see why the hummers all migrate South! They’ve got beautiful resorts (refuges) where any smart bird would want to spend time! Thank you, Carol for sharing your visit there.

The drone pilot is steadily improving, especially appreciated the reverse fly through shot of the three of you standing at your tripods.😍

Unfortunately I made a mistake in the video. That hummer is a Fork-tailed Woodnymph not a Crowned Woodnymph. They look VERY similar!
