    Low load control on or off on a Ideal Vogue c32? Seems to request max flow temp the boiler is set to at flame in order for the flame to stabilise before modulating down. E.g ask for 70 if flow temp is 50c so as not to overshoot at flame ignition. It will then modulate to say 50c... whereas with it off it might ask for a flow temp too close to what the boiler can modulate as low to and then you end up with endless cycling.
    I have also been having this issue where every few days have to power reset the boiler as despite the lyric asking for 50c heating flow the boiler says no demand and doesn't work. Very frustrating.

    Can you set up two Honeywell thermostats with OpenTherm on a two zone system (up/downstairs)?

    Brilliant tutorial Vaughn but trying to get answers from “residio “ Honeywell is a bit difficult ?

      Unfortunately i do not work for them any longer so cannot make any comments.

      @@a62vw ah thanks for reply Vaughn it seems to me Albert at CS doesn’t know what open therm is and keeps suggesting I need a two channel receiver to control a combi dhw set points in open therm ??? Thanks for your reply

    Is the T6R compatible with a Baxi 830 combi boiler when wired in Opentherm please?

    Is opentherm really worth it compared to on/off? Has this protocol evolved or it’s still bugged and not reliable yet?

    • @a62vw
      @a62vw  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it is worth it. The OpenTherm interface protocol is established and stable. The issue is the way some boiler manufacturers have implemented it in their boilers which has caused problems.

      The low load control on this thermostat is excellent. No other controllers have this, but then honeywell did invent opentherm.

    Could you give ne some help about this T6R, could you give me a contact email? I measure the heating and the hot water temperatures and I see that for example (when the low load control is enabled) it heats for 4 minutes after that switch off for 4 minutes and it repeats while there is heat demand. I think it is bad for the boiler - switching on-off several times -, it will not work for years with such a high on-off times.
    And what does the Control setpoint means?

      Low load control takes into account the minimum flow temp that your boiler is able to reduce down to. So on my boiler 30c is the lowest flow temp it can control to. With low load control off, the lyric was calculating the heating load as needing say 23c, so the rads were dropping to below 23c before the boiler would refire and quickly over shoot (becsuse the boiler cannot control below 30c) and then turn off, so I was finding it was short cycling for longer and more frequently with it turned off. It also meant the rads never really gave any heat off as it was always trying to maintain a really low silly flow temp which was not good for the boiler. You can also get cycling with it on if there is very little load in the system. Low load control also asks the boiler to fire at max flow temp you set on the boiler and then modulates it down after a few seconds to ensure that if the boiler is only needing 30c, the likelihood is that with low load control off the boiler would not be able to achieve that on start up without over shooting and cycling off straight away. Low load control spreads the firing sequence out for longer.
      Also check your max flow temp is set to no more than 55c, any changes you make on the boiler be sure to power cycle the boiler so that the thermostat gets sent the new settings you have made.
      Control set point is what the thermostat has calculated the heating load to be and has translated that into a flow temperature that is required from the boiler to maintain that heat load (your set temperature)

      NO, I had to switch off the low load control because the several switching on-off problem!

      They come with OpenTherm function as standard. Have you set it up correctly?

      Opentherm is only detected if it's wired in properly at the boiler and at the opentherm connections on the thermostat. Chances are it's not been wired correctly as these have opentherm functionality as standard. Your boiler may not support opentherm either.
