Endorsement deals and signature shoes are not a trophy based on accomplishments, all those players you mentioned are accomplishment do not generate money for companies as they have not generated money for the WNBA. No one is entitled to endorsement deals as there must be a clear ROI
But that’s the point tho. You’re right. Those other players have not generated revenue for the WNBA but yet have deals…. So then the question have come down to marketability
@@PrettyGrlJu I think for the first time in a long time the race card helped! Many tuned in to watch that white girl lose. Reason why Angel Reese tweeted a celebratory meme when Caitlin was stopped by South Carolina. This drama will ofc make Caitlin millions but it will also make WNBA money and companies who ride the wave. I'm old enough to remember whites reluctantly falling in love with Jordan, even when they wanted Bird to stop him. Hate attracts you but the love keeps you.
Sad to say… but my thing is, hype begins with a player that has “game”. You gotta be able to ball to get hype… why doesn’t the WNBA hype up A’ja Wilson seeing all that she’s accomplished? I get views and all of that, but the league chooses who they want to “push” too.
@@bjtrav690no its about race lets be honest cait wasn't post to make it to last game vs sc it was post ti be lsu but sadly knowin them numbers would of sold they wanted to make it seems like its all cait doin which is why racism plays a part in this two chanps who cooked her boots last year cant make a wnba spot but cait can thats like sayin you cooked me bad and yet you cant get a spot
99.9% of American people could not pick out Wilson in a 3 person line up. I sure couldn’t because NOBODY watches the WNBA. This is why she does NOT have star power. To have “star power” you have to be recognizable. Nobody would recognize her or any other WNBA players. Brittany Griner is only player anyone would recognize and that’s because she spent time in a Russian prison. May not sound nice but that is the facts and the truth. Look at viewer ship numbers. Attendance numbers. Jersey sales?? NEVER see a WNBA jersey. Ever.
So you’re saying that her peers Sabrina and Breanna are recognizable in a 3 person line up by 99% of Americans? Because we don’t really have to discuss CC in this instance. We can discuss her peers who also have signature shoe deals. What are your thoughts on that?
@@PrettyGrlJu Sabrina definitely is for sure. She just had the 3 point competition with Steph Curry during all star weekend. Stewart not really. Griner is the only other WNBA player that many people outside of hardcore WNBA FANS (which are very few) would recognize. That is mostly because of the prison time in Russia. I hope C. Clark can help improve things for the WNBA but I think if you look 2 years from now things will pretty much like they were the previous 27 years with low low viewership , low attendance at games and very little jersey sales. There will be a lot of hype for first month or maybe two this season but games C. Clark is not playing in will probably not have a big increase in viewers or ticket sales. We will see.
Exactly. Angel Reese and Cameron Brink are two after Caitlin who will collect big bags outside WNBA. NCAA still has big influencers/female ballers who will be part of a future WNBA draft. Paige Bueckers is one.
@@PrettyGrlJuThere is nothing marketable about Aja or anything about WNBA 2023. But WNBA 2024 may just be that year pro women ball turns a profit. I tried to buy tickets at Barclays Center when Caitlin or Angel are in town. Both sold out! And season don't start until May.
Agree. But the league takes who they want and pushes them. Ppl won’t know who you are if the league doesn’t promote you. But I def understand what you’re sayin. That’s facts.
@@PrettyGrlJu thats the point racism play in they can 36 tv games just ready fir caitlitn clark but yet the WNBA cant add them this year they should be first in line right they beat cait imagin tellin cait this year yeah we cant take you this year to much spots sorry tbh im wont support this why cait new sneaker deals tv deals where is all this money at all of sudden also Alexis shouldn't have to be no globetrotters i see in men sports college when ever a top 4 top 3 players win a chip most likely they goin pro notice also how cait draft is higher then Winners its post drop notice two white girls gettin draft right away they playin right in our faces
You guys are clueless. The shoe companies could care less if the athlete is black white red yellow. If they believe you will help them sell more shoes that’s all they care about. Look on the men’s side and explain that then. All the biggest contracts - Jordan , Tiger , Kobe , Lebron and so on. I guess Nike and adidas etc.do not look at race on men’s side but definitely do on the women’s? Just like the salary pay difference. WNBA loses money every year and the NBA gives them $10Million each year to stay afloat. If the NBA/men didn’t give them $10 million each year they wouldn’t even be an existence as a league. And yet they want more pay
Who is hating? Did you not watch the entire video? Lbs did you not watch the beginning where I opened up by congratulating CC? Did you not hear me say CC is my girl? lol like wtf are we talkin about? I’m not questioning CC and why she got the deal… I’m questioning why A’ja does have one… the conversation being had is about her marketability….
@@PrettyGrlJu Thr whole first segment started off trying to compare why the other girl hasn’t had a shoe deal yet but Caitlin Clark. Straight hating…..Say congrats that women are getting recognition.. Otherwise, it’s nothing but hating from the start.
@@PrettyGrlJu you didn't just question? CC and Angel came with their fans out of college, exactly how is it a race thing all of a sudden? you actually have your own bias and went down that road. Aja carried the league, ok. but where is the money? where is the return on investment for anything? how much did tv views and game views go up? Did she take away from the 10 Million being lost every year? What needle has she moved? As an investor you would have invested in the Wnba before CC came? How is it race if people just don't know or watch the wnba? All of those women in the wnba and the league still losing money and everything going down.. sigh, you just want investors to lose money or to just give away money because of your feelings? right now, as an investor, who would you invest your money on, CC or Aja?
Nike knows giving Caitlin Clack a shoe deal with the hype is the right thing. Her signature shoe deal will sell more than Aja Wilson's, and we all know it. If she can't get a Nike deal, then let her get Adidas or any other brand. You all just hate that Caitlin Clack is attracting all the audience. She is the next Jordan, and if she fails, the WNBA should understand that they are not progressing because we all know the hate she receive from wnba.
When you say “you all” who specifically are you referring to? Did you not watch the entire video? The question isn’t why CC got the deal… the question is why doesn’t A’ja have one? Not to mention, A’jas peers have signature shoe deals…. Pls watch the entire video before saying someone is hating. CC is my fav player at the moment… you didn’t hear me say “CC is my girl” did you? lol
It just comes down to who you identify more with, just like in the NBA Lebron has his fans and Steph has his fans. You just identify to someone who has the personality traits and career that you like. Nobody is expected to like the same person.
As a man who actually watches & has followed womens basketball for several years, this is a multi-dimensional conversation. I wish people wouldn't run from the race aspect, because while not the only factor, it certainly IS a factor..just like sexuality is when it comes to marketability whether people like it or not. In Aja Wilson's case specifically, you would need to compare her to other Black female post players..and imo she isn't AS marketable as a Lisa Leslie or Candace Parker (two women who are considered universally pretty with easy going personalities) . But she's more marketable than say a Sylvia Fowles, another dominant WNBA post player. If she's not as marketable as a Lisa Leslie, than we'd ought not even bring Clark into the conversation..that's a non-starter from the jump. It will be interesting to compare the fanfare of USC's Juju Watkins to Caitlin Clark. Watkins is headed for stardom, she broke several Freshman records & has potential to have an NCAA career that is just as decorated as Clark's. She already has endorsements and will no doubt get a BIG money shoe deal and more. But I doubt she moves the needle as much as Clark. Because this is reality..Clark being a 'wholesome' white woman from iowa plays very well with a white mainstream audience. And there is nothing *inherently* wrong with that. Dawn Staley being a dominant Black female head coach plays well with my demographic..and i'm inclined to root for her because of that. It doesn't mean we have to root *against* Clark or Staley because of those facts though. If this wasn't the case, Diana Taurasi would have been celebrated to the level of Clark. But her profile, an opinionated lesbian with Italian heritage who played for a strong program in UCONN doesn't play as well with the American mainstream as Clark's profile. Brianna Stewart as a similar profile as Diana, they are both marketable..but only to a certain degree. A lot of factors play into one's brand. If Becky Hammon was as good as Sue Bird she would have been a megastar simply due to how she looked & being heterosexual. If people don't like Kelsey Plum being into black dudes doesn't hurt her brand with a white mainstream audience they are lying to themselves. I bet Clark's marketing team is already thinking about how to handle her sexuality (either way)..because it's A factor. And when I say white mainstream audience we are really talking about older white men. Because more women being interested in a specific sport or athlete doesn't move the needle nearly as much white men who drive all this coverage. Caitlin Clark leading an underdog, almost all white Iowa team in the NCAA was just a good story. A lot of these people aren't even Basketball fans, certainly not women's basketball fans. So while the fanfare is hot right now..I don't think it's going to translate to the WNBA as much as people want to think. In the end CLark is just going to be another great WNBA star like her peers, but nothing more or less.
Being a more accomplished athlete is not the same as being marketable. Aja Wilson does not bring the same attention and eyeballs as Caitlin Clark, Clark has not even played a WNBA game yet but here upcoming games are already being moved to bigger arenas and being sold out, Aja has not come close to bringing in those number of people.
Enough of this BS with this Clark girl and other athletes' most importantly Black people. Nike is a business ok, common sense should tell you. Noke is a money-making company. none of those girls can sell more as compared to Clark. I am black and it is a fact. She is profitable, marketable and someone who Nike will not have to scramble or worry about defending their image. Nike looks at all those things.
Nobody is arguing that so watch your tone. But if other women who have not proven to run up numbers have also gotten deals, the question then remains, why doesn’t A’ja have one…? And that is where the question about marketability came into play.
@@PrettyGrlJu What I'm really looking forward to is seeing a real rivalry between Fever and Sky. I got questioned for comparing Angel Reese to Carmelo Anthony. But you really have-to start comparing this new class to NBA talents that beyond stats were franchise stars. A lot to ask these young ladies. This class truly is the biggest hope for the WNBA to be a billion dollar ball club. When that happens everybody going to eat! Next year draft can easily see rookie contracts being a millie each.
Been seeing a LOT of posts lately about A'ja Wilson not having a Nike deal. Not just a "shoe" deal but specifically a "NIKE SHOE" deal. I honestly have never heard of A'ja Wilson before this. But I have definitely heard of Sabrina Ionescu, Angel Reese of of course Caitlyn Clark. People are hinting at the fact that she's black may have something to with it, but that is far far far from the case. She isnt marketable. A commenter down below hit it on the head when they said "She's like Tim Duncan" who was known as Mr. Fundamental. Not exciting, not flashy, no one pays to see him play, no fancy passes, no thunderous dunks. Just goes out and gets the job done - like plain Vanilla. That seems to be what A'ja is - plain vanilla. Caitlin had me tuning in to watch ALL of her games. She had the entire country tuning in to watch her play. She is just THAT great. There are other brands out there. Maybe a smaller brand would sign her.
That’s great insight. What’s crazy is I enjoy watching her play. Also, Tim Duncan has never been the “face” of the NBA. He’s been a major name because he’s won rings, but not a “face”…. A’ja Wilson is literally, THEE face of the WNBA. They do not make players that aren’t marketable the face of anything. When you say not marketable, do you mean she’s boring to watch play?
This is a tough sell of Caitlin Clark just being white. Breanna Stewart has 4 ncaa titles, 4 tourney mvps and 2 WNBA titles, POY, 2 Finals mvps but no major sneaker deal like CC. You'd be hard pressed to try and put anything up against those stats. Right behind her is probably Diana Taurasi . Caitlyn is a spectacle. She came along at the right time and the ncaa women's tourney had so many storylines. Her shooting, LSU/Iowa rematch, S. carolina going attaining an undefeated season, JuJu being crowned the next big thing and UConn being carried by Paige back to the final 4 with a decimated bench. There are more stories here than a soap opera. America ate it up and these young ladies are going to benefit from it all financially
I’m not sayin solely because Caitlyn is white, because I did mention how she’s marketable outside of that. And you certainly said something very important here…. Unfortunately, the times we are in now benefits the up and coming players more than the existing….
@@PrettyGrlJu the same thing happened in the early days of the NBA. Before Magic/Bird the nba wasn't pulling a ton of money, the seats weren't filled etc. Those 2 came in and changed all that. Add on top of that DR J in the early 80s and then an up and coming Jordan was really what sent it through the roof. Hopefully this rookie class can do that for the WNBA
Look its simple Caitlin Clark dominates in a black sport this is why she gets more attention companies like Nike capitalize on these opportunities it's no difference when tiger came on the scene in golf. Or the Williams sisters in tennis. she is the money maker right now and everyone is jumping on that ship.
Breanna Stewart has dominated the black sport too along with Diana Taurasi, sue bird and elana delle done The real reason Caitlin Clark Is marketable is because she is exciting to watch with her deep shooting and elite passing. We've seen AJA WILSONS before. Iger game isn't the game we want to see. Fans aren't drawn to her at all. She us marketable but not like Clark
I don’t disagree with that. I’m simply saying, A’ja has done what the whites have done as well but it’s always OVERLOOKED and undervalued. But I’m not arguing why CC has her deal. I’m arguing why A’ja doesn’t have one at this stage in her career
Yea, that’s what I said, maybe this conversation will cause other brands to focus on her more and possibly give her a deal. Maybe not be for the same amount, but it should be a good one nonetheless
Aja can hoop ...she can have the accolades but its about the attitude. No she is not marketable if she was she would have a shoe. Companies are going to make good business decisions esp when the WNBA is involved. NIKE knows what its doing. 17 thousand ppl came to watch CC just to get drafted. Theres no one on that level. Aja doesnt have that kind of a fan base.
Caitlyn’s game is marketable. Caitlyn put butts in seats like Zion did when he was at Duke. Aja is a great player but she doesn’t have enough attention for Nike to invest. The more eyes a player has on them is where Nike will place their logo. I’m pretty sure Caitlyn had meetings with all the major shoe companies. Nike’s gamble on Zion hasn’t gotten the returns they thought they would. It’s all about the potential return on investment.
I’m glad you said the word “potential” because I def hit on that when I mentioned CC “appearing” to be more marketable simply because of the clout she has coming from college basketball. But then I have to ask, how many more eyes do Breanna Stewart and Sabrina Lonescu have on them compared to A’ja Wilson because they have a deal too and I don’t hear their name ringing bells either. I think we understand what’s going on with CC. She has def put butts in seats and has helped boost tv views significantly… so that’s a given if you ask me…. But A’ja not having a shoe deal at all compared to peers alike…. Questionable
A'ja Wilson is more than deserving of a shoe endorsement deal. However, name another female basketball player who has had this much hype coming out of WNCAA basketball...Dawn Staley who is a Hall of Famer, former WNBA player, and current coach of South Carolina women's basketball team has already called Caitlin Clark one of the G.O.A.T's of women's basketball because game recognize game. The hype around Clark is similar to Lebron coming out of high school and was offered $90M from Nike. Nike is gambling on the potential of Caitlin Clark because she brought 18 million viewers to women's college basketball, which in itself is not only unheard of for a female basketball player but it also puts pressure on the current WNBA league, thus needle moving. No current or past WNBA player has had this much hype nor have brought out celebrities, mass media, and as many viewers. Some of the NBA players and Cavs teammates back in the 2003/2004 season were all mad when Lebron was getting the hype before entering the league, but then he lived up to the hype. Let's see if in 10+ years from now if Caitlin Clark lives up to the hype. A'ja Wilson is yes definitely deserving of an endorsement deal and maybe she may get one soon, but A'ja has not brought the kind of viewership to the WNBA in the way Caitlin has done to Women's college basketball. It's all about numbers when it comes down to it. The NBA subsidies the WNBA, the WNBA is not in position to thrive on its own, which is also part of the reason that not every star WNBA player has an endorsement deal. The WNBA has come a long way, but big brand shoe companies will be careful of who they invest in for the next 10+ years to represent their brand and reap profit from. Caitlin Clark is a needle mover and has proven it on the collegiate level. Nike is taking the gamble. But it doesn't mean A'ja isn't undeserving of an endorsement deal. I hindsight, maybe Clark's deal may help future endorsement deals happen, and A'ja may actually can negotiate for something more lucrative because of her proven track record, so let's pray and hope it happens for A'ja Wilson.🙏🏽💯
Aja Wilson scored zero 3pt in her first 3 years in wnba. ZERO. Aliyah Boston is better. Any player is better. Just make a shot at the 3 points line. 😂 Championship is for the team. Not a player.
The only color that matters to companies is green, they give endorsement deals to those who will provide a return on investment. This is a silly discussion, Aja Wilson is an accomplished athlete that does not necessarily make her marketable, especially in a league that is low profiled at this moment. Being a charismatic person does not necessarily make you marketable either, Nike is a brand expert
So then the question remains, what would make her marketable? Because from what I’m gathering if she can shoot 3s then she’d be more marketable. A’ja is still young, so she has the swag and youth aspect to her… so what makes her not marketable then?
Do you guys even watch women's basketball? You dont get such things as Nike contracts if you not matketable. The WNBA, in a whole, isn't marketable despite how talented some of the women to be. Lately, the only thing they was raving about is BG coming home from Russia and even that wasn't big news becasue the WNBA is boring. They should embrace someone like Catilyn Clark, Angel Reese, Juju, the younger althetes from college, because with their popularity from college my bring a new wave of fans to the arena in which open doors for more money for the women there. The league viewership will increase. More people in stadium, will increase more airtime deals, more games and longer season, etc. You need to watch her play before criticism why she is so popular and getting deals. Men understand that, and they will captalize on her likeness because she will bring them money.
They keep saying she’s not marketable but can’t explain how…. So that only leaves one reason… it’s unfortunate and “they” hate to admit it. We all know CC is a big deal, but is A’ja Wilson not?
Jordan and Tim Duncan are my two favorite players of all time. Jordan was marketable but Duncan really wasn’t. Being marketable isn’t the same as being great. Casuals like flash and Clark has flash. This is why I think JuJu will be very marketable.
Can you define “flash”…. In terms of CC… because if we’re brining Juju into the convo and saying she has “flash” then I’d def say the same for A’ja… so that what I mean… ppl ignore the “flash” that black athletes have… but I’m curious to know what you mean in terms of CC tho.
I see what you mean in terms of MJ and TD… but when it comes to A’ja and CC I feel they’re both “flashy” in terms of their game and how entertaining it is to watch them play. A’ja just doesn’t shoot 3s
@@PrettyGrlJu I am 43 and I have been watching basketball for a long time. Perimeter players get more love than big men in the NBA. Shaq is by far the most popular post player I have ever seen. A'ja is awesome and she should get more endorsements. I am just pointing out what I have seen over my life. The NBA was dying before Magic and Bird came along. Was there great players in the NBA besides them? Yes, but they were such dominate perimeter players and they developed a rivalry. Then came Joran and the league blew up. Casuals want to see some flashy plays like dunks, crossovers and long 3s. The hardcore can appreciate someone like A'ja's game. The NBA became wildly popular once guards became just as dominate as the post players. I remember watching Cynthia Cooper dominate the WNBA its first 3 years. She was like MJ but she was 35 when the league started. The ratings the first 3 years were double what they are now.
NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. Aja doesn't shoot 3's like Caitlin, that's the difference. It's not about being marketable as much as having the it factor. Companies only care about your ability to draw eyeballs to the TV. If Asa shot three's like Caitlin it would be different. But none of this will matter for the WNBA until they lower the rim to allow for dunking. This will speed up the gameplay as well. The WNBA also should take some marketing tips from the Savannah Bananas, they resurrected their team with the promos they do.
I’m glad you mentioned shooting 3s and lowering the rim. I discussed lowering the rim in a previous video. As a woman, I don’t believe lowering the rim is going to make a difference. Dunking is just not in the nature of women’s basketball. If they lower the rim, they need to start in college so that it can translate into pro ball. I still don’t believe women will be dunking as much even with the rims lowered. Also, do you believe that if CC were black she’d be getting the same push? Also, when you say the “it” factor…. Besides shooting 3s, does A’ja not have the “it” factor? And if not, do you think it’s simply because she doesn’t shoot 3s? What is it is what I’m tryin to get at. Thank you for your very reasonable response
@@PrettyGrlJu I think Asa has it all, but she doesn't shoot that logo three. And yes she could be Black, White, Asian or all three, if she emulated Curry's game like Caitlin has then yes she would be getting the same push. Without a dunk in the WNBA, the logo three is the baseball equivalent to baseballs homerun, the hail mary in the NFL, etc. It's the most exciting play in the sport and is what casual fans tune in for. Think about it like this, if the NBA banned dunking, how would that change the game? And I agree they need to lower the rim in college so these ladies can get acclimated to the dunk. Shaq is the one who pointed out that the ONLY thing the WBNA lacks is DUNKING. What do they have to lose?, the WNBA has lost money every single year for two decades. That's insane, that's why women aren't getting paid.
I don’t disagree with that, but it’s not like she isn’t getting deals at all. But the deals that the white WNBA players are getting because of “marketability” black WNBA players aren’t…. But yes, your team def plays a significant part. I don’t feel like it’s her team tho. A’ja has accomplished great things outside of basketball…. But who knows… could be.
@@PrettyGrlJu Both players had a test run with the product and Caitlin won. Caitlin's nike jersey, hoodie, and shirts sold out in certain men sizes Caitlin wore all of the the Kobe sneakers, including the iconic Bruce Lee's, Grinch, reverse Grinch, tribute to mamba. This was free advertisement for Nike, and allowed Caitlin to negotiate her contract with the company. Ms. Wilson could barely move the Nike Cosmic 3 shoe or gear.
Yes, they are both marketable. However, it’s about the sale of the shoe. If you put up A’ja Wilson shoe, against Caitlin Clark, Clark’s shoe would sale a lot more. Regardless of Wilson carrying the WNBA, it’s about selling the shoe. It’s the wrong time to sell both shoes at the same time now. Nike will lose money. A’ja should have acquired a shoe long time ago.
Companies only care about 1 thing and that's money. They know what trending and what gets views. The regular sports fan has no idea who the Wilson girl is and certainly in today woke climate if they could sell her they would have. A specific group of society always wants eyes on them, but the world is interest in what they have to offer.
So do you think that now that we’re walking into a new evolution of women’s basketball that players that have been doing their thing will get their just due, or will they continue to be overlooked? Because there are other active WNBA players with shoe deals that nobody knows who they are either…. I do, but the GP doesn’t….
Let me help you guys with this.. Aja Wilson is Amazing!! BUT SHE IS NOT FUN TO WATCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Even if Caitlin was Black She would be FUN TO WATCH!!! SHOOTING THOSE 3'S Thats the bottom line!!.
What’s crazy is I enjoy watching her dominate. I just enjoy players who carry teams and she def is one of them. What makes her not fun to watch? @lorenzojones46
And to go back to the question you keep asking "Is she marketable" I think is not the right question. I guess ANYONE is marketable if you put them in a million commercials, but no one is going to put you in a commerical unless you got a big following. People was mad Baker Mayfield was in all those progessive commercials he didnt win shit he was #1 pick but he had a legion of millons of fans. Lamelo Ball barely even played this year but look at his TH-cam views and following, he has the Gen Z on lock. Jememe Hill was tweeting about A;ja but someone checked her history and she never tweeted about A'ja before complaning about Clarks deal but had 300 tweets about Clark. Like marketing isn't a guess, its people following your lead like Michael Jackson, and no one can fake that. Shacarri may not be "marketable" by the book term but she didnt get $20 m because they wanted to help her, she got a following and be on Shaderoom everyday in national discussion. No onie i ever met talked about Aja wilson before, i didnt even know she was MVP till yesteday.
My questions isn’t necessarily is she marketable because I personally don’t feel marketability is the issues, but coming from these comments it appears as though people don’t recognize her and because she doesn’t have enough recognition that is why she isn’t receiving a deal… But then I have to ask how much more familiar are people with Breanna Stewart than A’ja Wilson? Drafted around the same time, play the exact same position, and both 2x WNBA champions… how much more recognizable is Breanna than A’ja? Yet Breanna has a deal… So then that’s when we have to look further into things and consider race as a factor. Not the end all be all, but def plays a part. Someone asked me to compare A’ja to her peers… but I have been comparing A’ja to her peers… who I feel also are deserving of their shoe deals based on their contributions to the game as well… But I guess ULTIMATELY lack of awareness or recognition is why A’ja doesn’t have a deal from what I’m gathering from the comments… and filling seats…
@@PrettyGrlJu Race definitely plays a factor, but, to the benefit of black women players. Because they have often been the worst ambassadors to the W. Brittney Griner, exhibit A. But still kept on, even saved from prison. Even though she has been a big hindrance in growing the WNBA brand. This the first draft and next year will be same. Where W ball will get a big boost from players who are valuable to the W brand. I even like Marquesha Davis. Who Liberty drafted. Because just knowing my town. I know she going to be a fan favorite.
@@PrettyGrlJu no cap these convos made me look her up and REAL ish she is LIKE THAT. For real and I don’t got no reason to be nice. And I hope they sell, because her personality + game is 🔥. Can’t deny that
Imo women should work together. Im from both cities. Aja is the Lebron, the best. Gotta knock off the blame thing with this topic, i love the wnba and go to aces games, so lite, bring in your own drinks ❤ so much goes into this, college players now get paid. Its Vegas and vegas takes care of its own ❤ wnba doesn't make nba money and if Aja wanted a shoe deal she would probably have one. 3peat baby lets go, ready for the season. Sounds like a race baiting question, peace and love to all my real ones
I would def love a 3 peat for sure. You def mentioned something interesting… perhaps, A’ja doesn’t want a shoe deal… that’s certainly a possibility that I don’t feel anyone has considered…. But idk… it seems like every players dream is to have their own shoe… but then again, maybe not.
it's not about skills or talent, it's about who is the most known and famous. If you had your own company you would be stupid to choose aja over CC, there is a crazy movement going on Worldwide right now due to ONE person, to be very clear, it's CC and not anybody else of race, sex or religion. Your feelings alone can't make who you like force a company into investing to somebody when there is clearly a 10000000% bigger star in front of your face.
@@PrettyGrlJu and i totally agree with you. But, what would you as a Business owner choose in this situation, where there is a megastar infront of your face. Just curious.
This is to all my black men in this comment section. We defend Caitlin Clark and Nike but yet not our own woman Aja Wilson. Who accomplishments on the highest levels is far better than caitlin Clark’s. They put a wholesome white woman in front of their young woman and give us Stripper, rapper , sex worker and front of our young female . Yet a woman who is just good at her job is not marketable. Come on guys . Our woman do have there issues but this don’t make any since going by the Metric that they put out. We love champions.
Talking as if African American women respect Black men, we all know how some Black women may have negative feelings towards Black men and believe they can be independent. It's no surprise that Black women are often perceived as the least desired group of women in the United States.
See I ain’t wanna get that deep. But you def hit it on the head… I lightly touched on it and said that the reason ppl are questioning A’ja’s Marketability is simply because she’s black. Because other white players in the WNBA have signature shoes and have the same or similar accolades as A’ja… I’m sure they’re marketable but can’t say for certain… but I can say for certain A’ja is just as marketable as her current peers who have shoe deals and she doesn’t have one. Maybe she’ll get one this year
I have no ideas what this has to do with basketball. Can you elaborate? Because what you’re speaking on is def a conversation I don’t mind tapping into… just not here lolbs
@PrettyGrlJu The reason why I am calling out my black brother on this topic is because we know exactly what they are doing . We see this every day on our jobs. Sports are just microcosm of society.

My thing is non of these other women moved the needle in the WNBA. So why would Nike invest in someone who wouldn’t make them a profit. It’s not about race its about views
Technically, CC hasn’t moved the needle in the WNBA either… but again, I get it. A’ja Wilson has def moved the needle. A’ja is the standard. But if the league fails to push that then we’re left to have the discussion among ourselves as to why…
@@PrettyGrlJuCC hasn't done anything in the wNBA but has brought clout to womens basketball. Her jersey sold out in an hour Nike saw that and said them shoes gonna sell
A'ja may get a shoe deal now, but honestly, she was not deserving of one before. Thats just the truth, and my problem with this argumrent is that women (Im not one of those weird women haters, just saying on social there are women who never talked about sports now its all you see cuz its a hot topic, which is ok) are posting her stats and awards, but that dont mean shit when it comes to shoes. Zion didnt win anything and got the biggest bag ever because he was super famous. Clarks games broke all-time records in viewerships. NO ONE was asking for a A'ja shoe deal until TWO DAYS AGO when Clark got hers. Its life. COCO has a bigger bag from NIKE then the #1 tennis player who is a white girl, because everyone knows and follows Coco. Nike of all companies dont give AF about nothing but if we make the shoe will millions of epople buy it, people give a damn about stats. Shacarri got $20 million from Nike and this was after she came in last and before she got her mojo back. Im just tired of peopel refusing to look at the reality for what reason, I dont know. The WNBA is def a competitive league for sure because it’s so small. You really have to be the cream of the crop. Not to mention, their size and overall marketability compared to others that came up with them.
@@PrettyGrlJu ik thats why black girls will never be marketable they can show out 50 pts with one leg thats not impressive cuzz itd black but let a white girl shoot a half court shot now we impress
If it is racism then why didn't the most accomplished player of all time get the big shoe contract. Nobody has more ncaa titles than Breanna Stewart, Nobody has more NCAA mvps than Breanna stewart. Stewart has 2 wnba titles and 2 finals mvps. She's white. Lily white. White white lol. CC is selling and getting these things because she is a spectacle. She draws crowds.
When Nike signed Jordan, he had not played 1 minute in the NBA at that point. Jordan woods Griffey junior bojackson Dion Sanders. The list goes on and on and I'm pretty sure all these athletes are black. I've watched highlights of Wilson. At this point she's the best player. In the WNB. A. But there's obviously something missing. Or these shoe companies would have signed her. It's about green.
What do you think is missing? That’s what the point of the video was about. Her marketability. She’s very marketable… so what’s “missing”… Whoever the league wants to push can be marketable lol….. but Wilson is def marketable
I keep hearing you say deserve these ladies deserve, you obviously do not understand capitalism. Maybe you should take a break from youtube and start a business
You can answer the question of if A’ja is marketable or not tho and explain why? Ppl always wanna get smart in the comments cause they don’t have sh*t of value to say
Agreed...few ppl rarely if any get what they "deserve" in this world. We women don't understand this because we are superficial. If she was marketable Nike would have invested in her. This is a no brainer question.
Aja Wilson scored zero 3pt in her first 3 years in wnba. ZERO. Aliyah Boston is better. Any player is better. Just make a shot at the 3 points line. 😂 Championship is for the team. Not a player. And she can't sell tickets!!
Its about who puts people in seats and who wi ll turn on the TV and attract sponsors. NOBODY is on Caitlin Clarks level and its not even close. So you ask us about Aja Wilson and if she's marketable? Well, I'm not trying to put Aja Wilson down or anything. I know she's probably a great player BUT… no and why? Because none of my friends have ever watched a WNBA game before and some of my friends are black and I'm tired of you saying CAITLIN IS WHITE! SO WHAT!!! I'm watching some of you black ladies especially those two black ladies on NBC always talking about Aja being marketable. How can a player be marketable if the majority of people don't even know who she is? I've never heard of Aja Wilson before and it is all about race. Caitlin tore up the college record books and Nike loves that. Maybe Caitlin will bring in more people in a league that no one is watching. Look at all the hoopla around Caitlin. You black women need to stop hating and being jealous. My friends and I are going to be watching the WNBA for the first time because of Caitlin Clark. That's my rant and once again Aja should not make the same amount as Caitlin because no one knows who she is and I've asked zillions of people. We never even heard of the Las Vegas Aces until the Caitlin magic. Take care and by the way, I'm not white. I'm Asian.
Did you not listen to my entire episode? Who is hating on Caitlyn? She is white. Being white does play a role in her success. She’s also a phenomenal player. If you don’t know who Aj’a Wilson is it’s because the league doesn’t market her like they should. The league chooses who is the face and she is the current face of the WNBA. If people don’t know who she is, that is the leagues fault. Furthermore, I recommend you watch her play. Also, aj’a Wilson has also stated how being white elevates those who are white in the league… so it’s not just “black women” who feel like this… did you not see Paige’s speech on the lack of media coverage black women get? The thing is with this society, “you white people” turn a blind eye to race because yall lack accountability.
@@PrettyGrlJu Okay now I respect your opinion but you're wrong who I truly respect is Dawn Stayley. I'm sure you heard her say that Caitlin is the hottest star out there and credit her for the rise of the popularity of women's hoops. Aja may be great but she's not filling the seats. I'm glad you guys are pulling for her but it's not about “WHITE” and that hatred for a woman “Caitlin Clark” by black people is unwarranted. She has not gone online and dissed anyone. She even said nice things towards Angel Reese but this respectful woman keeps getting nothing but hate mail from black people and it's not fair. I'm even scared that maybe a jealous WNBA player might try to injure her on purpose when the league starts. Seriously. Anyway, now that Caitlin is in I will watch the Fever and check out the other players, and once again I'm an “ASIAN WOMAN” who is dating a “BLACK MAN” who loves Caitlin and does not play the race card. He's not in the “Woke” crowd thank God. Oh yeah, I saw Paige Beckers's speech but that does not have anything to do with Caitlin's deal. Okay. Sorry, this was long. Take care and have a nice day.

I think Paige Beckers is very good but I think Ju Ju will have more star power so what do you think about Ju Ju? She's my fave after my Caitlin. Take care.👍🏽🏀
I thank you for your respectful response. But here is the issue… the minute black women point out racial disparities we’re seen as being hateful. Can you point out to me exactly at what point I spewed any hatred toward Caitlyn Clark seeing as though she is literally my favorite player? Lolbs… I can still support my favorite player while pointing out the obvious. And you to bring up the fact that you’re married to a black man means what to this conversation? Because that’s a conversation for another topic and another day… That fact that America is literally built on race but fail to acknowledge it is crazy to me
The fact that you can sit here and point out your favorite basketball player and highlight that she has “exotic looks” is literally what race is about. lol what does exotic looks have to do with basketball?? Endorsement deals and signature shoes are not a trophy based on accomplishments, all those players you mentioned are accomplishment do not generate money for companies as they have not generated money for the WNBA. No one is entitled to endorsement deals as there must be a clear ROI
But that’s the point tho. You’re right. Those other players have not generated revenue for the WNBA but yet have deals…. So then the question have come down to marketability

Hello! Thanks for stopping by! I plan to have more wnba content coming soon!
I bet that she has been in a line up before though
What's disrespectful is that we have women who have played in the WNBA who are hall of famers and no body complained about thier low pay
why complain if you know you don't bring money in any way to your company
Aja is marketable but prob wont give big shoe brands their target ROI, Bayou Barbie is more marketable than her and is signed with reebok.

If she can't get a Nike deal, then let her get Adidas or any other brand. You all just hate that Caitlin Clack is attracting all the audience. She is the next Jordan, and if she fails, the WNBA should understand that they are not progressing because we all know the hate she receive from wnba.

Facts! I already tried buying a Caitlin ticket. She already sold out the Barclays Center!
Nobody is arguing that so watch your tone. But if other women who have not proven to run up numbers have also gotten deals, the question then remains, why doesn’t A’ja have one…? And that is where the question about marketability came into play.
My girl CC is a big fuckin deal okay 🙌🏾
She us marketable but not like Clark
thank you for this, must nike give wilson a shoe, cant other brand give her a shoe.
I don’t disagree with that. I’m simply saying, A’ja has done what the whites have done as well but it’s always OVERLOOKED and undervalued. But I’m not arguing why CC has her deal. I’m arguing why A’ja doesn’t have one at this stage in her career
I agree with that, but does that mean she isn’t marketable? Has A’ja, as a black woman, not dominated in this sport as well? lol… like come on now…
Yea, that’s what I said, maybe this conversation will cause other brands to focus on her more and possibly give her a deal.
Elaborate on “attitude” pls
Everyone has an opinion and I will keep my opinion to myself😂

@@PrettyGrlJu If I gave you my opinion you tube would censor it and quite honestly you've already shown your ignorance by opening your goober smoocher
We already know what it is! They act like Caitlin is the 2nd coming.
Men understand that, and they will captalize on her likeness because she will bring them money.
you sound jealous
Okay but how is A’ja not marketable tho!? Can you answer that? A’ja is just as marketable, if not more marketable that CC. And they sell out seats too
They keep saying she’s not marketable but can’t explain how…. So that only leaves one reason… it’s unfortunate and “they” hate to admit it. We all know CC is a big deal, but is A’ja Wilson not?
I think by now we all know about the viewership… and all of that, but LV aces does their thing on the sales side
Maybe her agent or part of her marketing team not out there getting her deals
I don’t disagree with that, but it’s not like she isn’t getting deals at all. But the deals that the white WNBA players are getting because of “marketability” black WNBA players aren’t…. But yes, your team def plays a significant part. I don’t feel like it’s her team tho. A’ja has accomplished great things outside of basketball…. But who knows… could be.
@@PrettyGrlJu Both players had a test run with the product and Caitlin won.
Caitlin's nike jersey, hoodie, and shirts sold out in certain men sizes
Caitlin wore all of the the Kobe sneakers, including the iconic Bruce Lee's, Grinch, reverse Grinch, tribute to mamba.
The regular
sports fan has no idea who the Wilson girl is and certainly in today woke climate if they could sell her they would have.
Tbh we not watchin the wnba till we see out black girls get treated right
I started watchin last year. I think we need to start supporting now more than ever
I didn't even know Aja name until today
Well I’m glad this video is bringing awareness to who she is. Now you know. :-). You should look up a game or two. She’s really her
My questions isn’t necessarily is she marketable because I personally don’t feel marketability is the issues, but coming from these comments it appears as though people don’t recognize her and because she doesn’t have enough recognition that is why she isn’t receiving a deal…
But then I have to ask how much more familiar are people with Breanna Stewart than A’ja Wilson? Drafted around the same time, play the exact same position, and both 2x WNBA champions… how much more recognizable is Breanna than A’ja? Yet Breanna has a deal…
So then that’s when we have to look further into things and consider race as a factor. Not the end all be all, but def plays a part. Someone asked me to compare A’ja to her peers… but I have been comparing A’ja to her peers… who I feel also are deserving of their shoe deals based on their contributions to the game as well…
But I guess ULTIMATELY lack of awareness or recognition is why A’ja doesn’t have a deal from what I’m gathering from the comments… and filling seats…
Mid range, she got a dope ass personality, she scored like 52 in the highlights I saw, she is a MONSTER. So I do believe once ppl watch + this national convo, she gonna get a deal. And I hope they sell, because her personality + game is 🔥. Can’t deny that
Tom Brady should make a nobull shoe with aja.
Im sorry that voice is a bit intimidating. I know that sounds crude, but no one said the world is fair.
it's not about skills or talent, it's about who is the most known and famous.
Oh but it can… companies target emotions often when marketing. But, I think people choose to miss the point.
@@therealiest981 Bro you sound goofy And WEAK. This is same reason why puma gave Mikey Williams a seven figure deal. This new generation of players can advertise the product with little help from the company.

@@PrettyGrlJu where are your statistical facts of tv views and attendance to games for the Wnba that shows aja moved any needle?
Oh - and nice video my G :)

Yeah right 😢😢😂😂😂😂😂 jasmine cardson deserve a spot Alexis morris deserve a spot
@@philipwhatley6742 get off my comment please thank you
When Nike signed Jordan, he had not played 1 minute in the NBA at that point.
She’s very marketable… so what’s “missing”…
Whoever the league wants to push can be marketable lol….. but Wilson is def marketable
I keep hearing you say deserve these ladies deserve, you obviously do not understand capitalism.
Maybe you should take a break from youtube and start a business
Maybe you should start a TH-cam channel then. I don’t see anyone coming to your page to hear what you have to say. 😂
You can answer the question of if A’ja is marketable or not tho and explain why? Ppl always wanna get smart in the comments cause they don’t have sh*t of value to say
@@PrettyGrlJu you seems bitter black woman.
Agreed...few ppl rarely if any get what they "deserve" in this world. We women don't understand this because we are superficial. If she was marketable Nike would have invested in her. This is a no brainer question.
Ns but she not
Aja Wilson scored zero 3pt in her first 3 years in wnba. ZERO. Aliyah Boston is better. Any player is better. Just make a shot at the 3 points line. 😂 Championship is for the team. Not a player.
And she can't sell tickets!!
Oh wow! Only 3 pointers… that’s interesting

@@PrettyGrlJu
Okay now I respect your opinion but you're wrong who I truly respect is Dawn Stayley. I'm sure you heard her say that Caitlin is the hottest star out there and credit her for the rise of the popularity of women's hoops. She also stated Aja is the best player right now but Caitlin is the one who's filling all the seats. Caitlin is the one who's responsible for all this hoopla so she deserves the shoe deal.
@@PrettyGrlJu
Oh yeah. One last thing and this will pretty much surprise you since you think I'm only about white players. My favorite college athlete now since Caitlin’s gone is Ju Ju Watkins.
Because that’s a conversation for another topic and another day…
That fact that America is literally built on race but fail to acknowledge it is crazy to me
The fact that you can sit here and point out your favorite basketball player and highlight that she has “exotic looks” is literally what race is about. lol what does exotic looks have to do with basketball??
