The tern "rock & roll" was coined commercially by Alan Freed in July, 1951. However, the term was used first in the late '40's when several black artists, including Wild Bill Moore, coined the phrase on their early 10" LP record albums. David Rock-ola had nothing to do with it -- it was his real name... He came from Manitoba, Canada and went on to be one of the great industrialists of the 20th century. A very talented and driven man. Very well respected. Kudos to Glenn Streeter for his efforts!
and i wrote them a long e-mail last week and ,well i expected at least an answer.... but no way..at least a small response or thank you would have been great... I agree, a jukebox that can play vinyls again would be great . The market for vinyls grow bigger and bigger again. A revival is on its way and they dont see the signs.. i wish the times back ,when the real Rock Ola manufactered their great jukeboxes... I still own a 444,453 and 460 and they play and play and play...
The only company in the world making a brand new hand built Vinyl Jukebox is Sound Leisure in the UK.I am expecting my delivery of the Rocket 88 next month....in the states, these are being branded as Crosley machines.
I disagree, people like myself still buy cd's just not ofthen as many people used too. the downside of going complete digital. you don't really own the music like cd or vinyl does.
just got ours today after waiting 9 weeks and its the wrong colour, we wanted light oak cabinet and it a reddy brown colour, so dissapointed, its gone back to the dealer!!
I was thinking the same thing. The only thing this guy is keeping alive is the Rock-Ola name. He's just using the name to sell his shitty cheap jukes. A terrible end to a good name.
They need to make these compatible with vinyl. Noone really listens to CDs anymore, but vinyl is making a fast comeback
