I just found your channel.. very helpful. Just got a 453 model.. I’m usually fixing arcade games so this is new for me.. I appreciate your step by step process..
I just refurbished a 453 and have it for sale on FB marketplace......cute box. Only drawback is that it has only two woofers.....no tweeters like the 449. Very reliable boxes once they are reconditioned......
I just happened upon a 1960s Rock Ola Starlet model 429. It sat in an outdoor shed for about 20 years. I plugged it in, lights came on, and she tries to do something but everything is frozen solid... I sure wish that I had your know how. .
Thank you for amazing videos and help William. I have a 68 Rockola 440 that is needing a lot of cleaning. I don't need a show piece, just something fun for the shop. I would like to really get it cleaned up though, it's gross. So I'm in process now of that and I have a question for you on cleaning those circuits. I'd love to pull the entire mech, basket and do a deep clean and maint on it. Suggestion for me on best way to do this? I have contact cleaner, deoxit af / cf but this is so dirty that I'll really need to get after and would love your advice on it. Thank you!
Hello William ! I enjoy watching your videos!Last year I bought a Rock Ola 444 and started servicing it. You helped me a lot to be able to restore this jukebox. But there was a problem and maybe you can give me some advice. Thank you in advance!I cleaned it very carefully and replaced the missing parts . I supplied the device with power and after a few adjustments it worked perfectly for a few days. Then, all of a sudden, those WRITE IN solenoids no longer wanted to hit those pins at the time of the write in sequence. It finds the selected song, it stops next to the pin (the tooth ) but it doesn't do anything anymore(does not hit the pin). If I move that pin with my finger, then the carousel starts (read out) and play the selected song (the disc put on the turntable, rolled to the end and then put back in the carousel). To give a clearer idea, I will explain the exact steps. I give him credit from the credit button on the credit box (the one for servicing). I press the keys (ex. A 1). The keys remain locked (pulled by the solenoid next to the keyboard), then the arms for write in start to rotate and stop next to the selected song (A 1 ). After this moment, the carousel starts spinning, but it doesn't stop because no PIN is moved. After a few turns, I have to unplug it because the solenoid on the wobble plate starts to get very hot because it remains activated (I think it deactivates after the pin is reset by the read out arm). I'm not sure but I suspect. Please help me with some advice .Maybe you or somebody know where this problem comes from.Maybe somebody can show me where to look more carefully... where to look or what to check. I don't understand why it worked and then stopped doing everything properly. I I also reset the gear wheel with tooth from the credit box. I replaced all the relays, checked the fuses. I cleaned the write in and read out tracks with extreme care. I think that the solenoids on the write in arm are not activated by the red wires. The ground works (the black wire). Have a good day!
A lot of things need to happen for the write in hammer to get power......the three areas to check are K4 (stop relay), the selection impulse switch (credit unit) and the ADR relay(credit unit). All three of these need to be examined and have their contacts cleaned, as they are critical for getting power to the hammer coil circuit. I would also clean the write in circuit board with CRC and a soft cloth. If nothing good happens after doing this, post a short video on the FB Rockola Collector Club group and you should get some good feedback. Best of luck
Great video!! Considering buying a 450. They are ask $300 working but has a few issues looks in good shape cosmetics are very nice. Any advice on they price? Thanks
If all the glass is good and it is complete, $300 is not unreasonable. But since it is not working, try to get it for $200-250.....you are in the driver's seat. That box is fixable inside.....no parts are unobtainable. Best of luck

well thanks 213......I am just a beginner as far as You Tube but I wanted to archive as much as I know while it is fresh in my mind. It is fun to fix things and the Rockolas from the 70's are fixable.....
@@williamweisel2176 yes they look complex but seem to function like all the others with slight design differences I like the rockola with the long shaft on the turntable that goes up and down to change the records and then plays in one direction from the stack and another on the table have you ever worked on see urges or vintage capharts all the best be safe and have a wonderful fun and very healthy 2022 jon
Thanks so much for your videos. I've got my 441 working all except the turntable. The turntable will not activate either in Scan or Operate position. When the gripper places the record on the turntable, turntable does not spin but the amplifier is definitely on. Any ideas?
Remove the turn table platter and observe if the turn table motor shaft and idler wheel are spinning. If so, then you need to clean the inside of the platter rim and the idler wheel and turn table motor shaft so they have better friction and move the platter. Put 2 drops of oil down the hole in the shaft under the platter and reinstall the platter, being careful to push the idler wheel underneath. Also be sure the spring attached to the idler wheel is firm. If turn table motor is not working , reseat it's connector or disconnect and hook up to 115 vac to see if it works
