- On July 6, 1893, Mary of Teck married Prince George, Duke of York, at the Royal Chapel of St. James's Palace in London. This Prince George later became King George V. This marriage was not initially planned as such. Prince George had hoped to marry his cousin, Princess Marie of Edinburgh. However, she declined his proposal and later married the future King of Romania. As for Mary, she was originally engaged to Prince George's brother, Albert Victor. Unfortunately, Albert Victor passed away six weeks after their engagement.
Prince George's grandmother, Queen Victoria, had a great fondness for Mary of Teck, considering her to be a girl of strong character and sense of duty, and thus, she hoped George would marry her. In May 1893, a year after George's brother Albert Victor passed away, he proposed to Mary of Teck, who gladly accepted. They soon fell deeply in love. Whenever they were apart, George would write to Mary every day, and unlike his father, he never had any extramarital affairs in later years. The couple went on to have six children, with only one daughter among them, who is the subject of today's video, Mary, Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood.
Another winning video. I didn’t even know Queen Elizabeth had an aunt! In spite of a longer face, I see some resemblance between Mary Princess Royal and our late queen. Thank you for another interesting short.
Принцесса Анна очень на нее похожа,особенно в молодости.А сын Марии похож на нынешнего короля.
I highly recommend the book "Princess Mary: The First Modern Princess" by Elisabeth Basford. She trained and worked as a nurse for many years.
Great work mate keep this up
Please do more videos on royalty
Mary was a beautiful and kind woman and loved her children and husband very much

Princess Anne looks very much like her.
Thank you for this, but the music is annoying and terrible. Just couldn’t continue watching it, much too distracting.
Queen Mary was Elizabeth second's grandmother.
I would say her first and closest grandmother as she was raised in England not Scotland so consequently saw much more of her father's side of the family than her mothers in Scotland
Queen Mary was Queen Elizabeth II’s grandmother but her daughter Princess Mary was Queen Elizabeth II’s aunt. She was Princess Royal before Princess Anne.
Des privilegies !!!!!
I am probably wrong…. But I was under the impression that Queen Mary of Teck was grandmother to Elizabeth II???????
You’re right.
She was indeed her grandmother
Princess Mary, her daughter was Queen Elizabeth II’s aunt.
She was, they are talking about Mary of Teck’s daughter also Mary.
She was a real Beauty.
Not the Queen’s Aunty but her Grandmother
Her grandmother was Queen Mary (formerly Princess Mary of Teck). Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood the lady this video is about was the daughter of Queen Mary making her the aunt of Elizabeth II
I never here of the harwood cousins.
I’m not sure of the exact reasons that they seem disconnected from the BRF, but Princess Mary’s eldest son created a scandal in the 1960’s when his mistress had a baby (He divorced his first wife and married his mistress), and it is said that they were ostracized for several years.

What are you talking about, did you even watch it? They’re talking about queen Mary’s daughter, Princess Mary, sister to Edward VIII, and George IV, and therefore, Elizabeth II’s aunt.
