      I agree, it's such a powerful word and they made a truly horrendous card with it.

    • @lynnmorgan5897
      @lynnmorgan5897 6 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      It should be a simple and powerful effect, like pot of greed "Draw 2 cards". I think it could be something like "Chose a monster, that target can attack your opponent directly this turn". It should be a generic card, not an archetype one.

      I mean if you think about it the card isn't super terrible when you realize it's called 'checkmate' because you're supposed to use it to win when your opponent only has 2000 life points or less and has a problematic board, and it allows you to jump over it and win the duel if in the right circumstances

      @@JoeyLamontagne DL:WR - Of course, because even if I didn't played that long not even once I was confused, not like in YGO what happening non stop.
      In MtG you don't encounter situation when card says one thing and game rules another. Wasn't playing MtG long enough but it have very constant rules not like YGO. In MtG to summon card you need specific energies in specific amount, ground units cannot attack flying unless said otherwise. That's everything simple and clear. In YGO card says "ignore summon condition" but yet you can't do that because reasons or just like SuperSayianWarrior said with his example of Zarc. Once when I was fight with my friends he put on field Chaos MAX Dragon and I put Twin Burst Dragon and after banishing his dragon they was like "Hey... it's a game bug, it cannot happen like that." and after checking google MAX Dragon vs Twin Dragon I've found that not only they were confused about battle result. NONE OTHER card game beside YGO have ANY confusing rules or situations on table.
      Konami if would make the game rules more clear, put intuitive (or at least intuitive enough) terms like already existing ones like: "Destroy" or "Banish" that every player after seeing it will understand it's effect. Just like in Hearthstone cards can have just SINGLE word "Taunt" and everybody know what does that means and creating confusing situation is simply impossible. And in YGO? God... NOT finding something confusing is hard.

    step one: get a high level monster out on the feild

    use said powerful monster in a special summon using polimerization to summon something more powerful, like blue eyes ultimate dragon.

    By the logic set by Level Manipulation, Level Up shouldn't work ether. As it's not the Lv 6 monsters effect that is bringing it out. This is honestly one of the things I hate about Yu-Gi-Oh we just selectively ignore card text. If it says it ignores the summing conditions, it ignores them. Unless it's something like Level Manipulation, in witch oh woops now it doesn't matter that it says that for no reason. It's the kind of ruleing that makes no sense.
    Can we just start reading the cards and playing them as they state they are to be played?

    • @SpottedZebra
      @SpottedZebra 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The difference is that one summons it from the graveyard. A card in the graveyard is subject to the Nomi rule, cards in the deck are not.

    • @Stephen__White
      @Stephen__White 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@SpottedZebra Still though, the card says it ignores the summon conditions. And as was mentioned is impractical bordering on impossible to actually summon a LV monster that has a summon requirement with it if you ignore that line on the card, and let's face it that is what's being done here. I could understand it if it was a case of it just special summoned the monster and didn't ignore summon conditions, but it doesn't. Or if the high level cards read, "This card must first be special summoned by ______ this can not be ignored." but they don't. Really all card effects like that do is cause confusion for no reason.
      Honestly it's a bit silly that we can't just have cards work as they are written, and instead have long rulings on how the card works. It's not like Level Modulation being able to summon any LV monster from the grave at the cost of a +2 for your opponent needs a stupid restriction like this.

    • @Stephen__White
      @Stephen__White 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @Charmiskit Maybe because it makes no sense? The high LV monsters do not state as some monsters do, that it must be special summoned with the effect of their med LV monster first, before they can be special summoned another way. So as far as the card text states it should work, but this is Yu-Gi-Oh, and 30% of cards in this game don't do what their card text states because rulings. So I'll just repeat what I said in my first post, "Can we just start reading the cards and playing them as they state they are to be played?"
      I would continue but there is no point dragging this out, much like with timing it's the ruling and we just have to deal with it, and there is no changing that.

For my logic (wrong or not but it is wrong in this case for whatever reason) if in example of the Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 and the Level Modulator. If the Horus is sent to the GY and card says "ignore the summoning condition" then for me there is no rule what prevents this combo from happening. What a difference what monster ends in the GY and from where (directly from Deck or from the field)? It is there, so such effects for me can be used.
    Also please don't hate me for what I've just wrote, I may not remember whole official rules of the YGO, I still learn, I finally can play it and I like it so please, just explain to me why monsters like the Horus LV8 and any other of this kind just HAVE TO be first on field before can be special summon from the GY?

    • @MrCegeb
      @MrCegeb 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's called BKSS: Because Konami said so
      Here's scenario:
      You Tribute Summon Lv6 Horus, you activate Level UP to bring Lv8, then it get killed by battle. Although it was summoned and was on the field, you cannot bring it back with Modulation, since it has to be properly special summoned by Lv6 in order to count.
      Also, when that same Horus Lv8 that was properly summoned by Lv6 in the GY, and somehow returned to hand/deck, that conditions is reset.
      Graveyard and Banished in Yugioh were always this restrictive.
      However, not so from the hand. (You can use Wild Monsters Appear to summon Vennominaga, Horus Lv8, Larvae Moth, etc)

    • @Luna_Aberra
      @Luna_Aberra 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@CantusTropus When I was checking those terms, on YGO wikia at the "Semi-Nomi" cards I've found this: "A Special Summon-only monster cannot be Special Summoned from the hand, Main Deck, Extra Deck, or Spell & Trap Zone, except by the specified method, unless the card effect ignores the Summoning conditions." And said "Level Modulator" have this exact statement soooo... for me using Level Modulator on the Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8 what is in GY sent directly from deck 100% legit.
      YGO after all is that complex game that it almost crushing itself with it. Making so many situations unclear, unintuitive, confusing and if two newbie players would want to play properly against each other they would spent more time in inet seeking answers. But Level Modulator effect is very simple and it states "Ignore the summoning conditions" so not ignoring them is not following the card effect. And if I am correct even official rule book don't have a line saying that such things aren't possible.
      Also the parts what says: "Must first be Special Summoned..." for what? To be properly used or what? D: Why this game is so damn confusing? >.

      @Luna_Aberra 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrCegeb I had to check wikia to fully understand this scenario. The complexity. And if so then yes Level Modulator CAN bring Horus Lv8 on the field from the GY.
      I am still newcomer to the YGO scene so kind of first thing I've done was.... READ THE OFFICIAL RULEBOOK what don't precise that AT ALL... Sorry but how to play ANY game if the official rulebook is incomplete and not cover ALL of the rules? From where there are such rules if rulebook don't have them included???
      Also proper summon don't change the card properties or description. If card like Blue-Eyes Alternative Dragon demand reveal normal White Dragon to be special summoned then sending it to the GY no matter how and when and from where would cause it to stuck in there. Unless this dragon is take back to the Deck or Hand but never directly to the Field.
      This one specific thing in YGO work against all logic... at least my own, I cannot understand it as official rulebook says nothing about such restrictions, nor cards says anything. If it would be clearly stated and maybe even described why is that in the official rulebook then that's fine. Unless that happens, for me it's neither nice or logical.

      @Agarillobob 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      tbh I dont get it aswell, for me its clear that you could just bring a level monster from the graveyard to the field BUT under the specifics card ruling I found this rule :
      "An "LV" monster that normally cannot be Special Summoned except by the method in its text CANNOT be Special Summoned from the Graveyard with "Level Modulation" unless it has been previously Special Summoned by the correct procedure. The "ignore the Summoning conditions" text allows for these monsters to be Special Summoned only after they have been properly Summoned by their own effect. This applies to "Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8", "Armed Dragon LV7", "Silent Swordsman LV7", "Silent Magician LV8", and "Winged Kuriboh LV10".

    I hope they print the anime Trap Counterpart of Level Modul without the terrible restriction of not being able to use the effects and perhaps give it something additional for Ojama Armed AtoZ dragon decks

    So if mst negates, does twin twister double negate?

      MST does NOT negate. But if a card needs to resolve on the field to have an effect (Continuous Spell/Trap cards for example) then MST causes the effect to "fail" without actually negating them. Yes, YuGiOh is over complicated and it only gets worse from there.

    1:20 shouldn‘t the old effect not work in the first place on attack position monster because they can‘t be set in attack position and is therefore something that can‘t exist in the game just like extra deck monster in your hand or main deck that also won‘t work and is illegal.
    Shouldn‘t the old effect than only be able to set defense position monster because that‘s an legal play?
    kinda confused seems like old players made smth up with this card just created smth new

    I know this is over a year old but I always ran gryphons feather duster in duel links for ancient gear. It always helped me out.

    Wait, I don’t get the Level Modulation issue with pulling Horus out of the graveyard after milling. It straight up says to ignore the Summoning requirements on the card right there in the text, so why would I had to have summoned it normally before using it? Is that some dumb bullshit ruling on Konami’s side or am I missing some intrinsic fact on Lv monsters?
