Been there and had a similar experience, lots of folks out at Sombrio. Actually did the whole JDF trail and there's several other camp spots along the way without the crowds. Thanks for the video.
I can’t believe I still haven’t done the whole trail. I bet there are some amazing spots.
Did you check out the waterfall while you were there? So beautiful.
And 100% agreed.. great place to camp with friends.. but it's SO populated with tourists and families nowadays.. not the same vibe whatsoever.
That's one of the reasons I moved to the South Island Tats, 24% larger land size, with only a quarter of the NZ population here. 🤭🤗
