I saw on Ebay an Original Oil Painting Henry Woodward Mounts Bay Cornwall 18" x 21" Framed. Sold for £40 Titled on back - "Outward Bound From Mounts Bay, Cornwall. Topsail Schooner" Oil on board.
Ellie, I just saw this in an email from the BBC today advertising a series called 'Wolf Hall',. I wonder if the BBC are using the name Thomas instead of Richard? It is described as; "Follow the irresistible rise of Thomas Cromwell Mark Rylance leads this acclaimed adaptation of Hilary Mantel's novels from the dark heart of Tudor times. This story follows Thomas Cromwell's journey as he maneuvers the corridors of power at the court of King Henry VIII. Putney-born Cromwell is as complex as he is unforgettable: a politician and a fixer, a diplomat and a father, a man who both defied and defined his age. All episodes of series 1 and The Mirror and the Light are available now.
Hello Ellie, another excellent adventure & video! What a great direct link to history there. It's a shame that in the upper garden by that wall so much leveling fill is apparently covering up most of the Civil War period artifacts. Need to call in Time Team to excavate deeper!
Hey Ellie, great detecting. I used to pick up recycling from all Lansdown area including there. Beautiful area and so jealous you have been detecting there ! All the best from Somerset and hope you have a great Christmas 👏🏻👍🏻💯✨
Just a few weeks ago i find your vlogs and i love them. The outdoor scenery and your lovely comments and thoughts are inspiring. And the metal detecting with great, and sometimes not so great finds are nice to see. Looking forward to the new vlogs.
Wow, what a fabulous property. After cherry picking signals, crank up the sensitivity and find the deeper stuff. You are a good plug digger, it you fluff up the grass with your gloved hand, you won't be able to spot your own holes. I do that in parks here, no trace. Excited to see what else you can find there.
Hi Ellie. Love watching you. Great finds. And magnificent old place. You probably already know. However the ship on the penny is called the golden hind. Cheers.
🤩Wow what an amazing place to search, would be cool to know more, what period the terracing was constructed, was it cut and fill or did the fill come from a borrow pit close by thus introducing artifacts and what not... Ps- glad your socks aren't going in my washer miss D! 😂
@@miss_detectorist I had a good ol giggle at your reply, sounds like a teen except those sock end up not in the bin but under the bed. I heard a story about ceramic pipes, a gentleman's ceramic pipe was often 3' long and held by the bowl, whereas a labourers pipe was broken short and clamped between the teeth to free up the hands for work. Many skeletons have been unearthed with a distinct grove worn in the teeth, indicating the skeleton belonged to a labourer. Have a great day miss D! ☺
You lucky lass. I've always been interested in the English Civil War. The battle of Adwalton Moor was fought near me. I have several local permissions and have found artifacts that date from that period - musket balls, pistol shot and Rose Farthings 👍
I think the toy car looks like a late 50s early 60s car like a Rover 75 P4 ( just a guess, it looks like the boot of one). Will you be able to dig nearer to the house walls? ( under windows?) might find something much older maybe 🤞🤞🤞
try under the wall - theoretically if it was the edge of the battle there should be some musket balls around there - either dropped or hitting the wall
Everything you found is stuff that could have been from around 1940, which leads me to believe that that site may have been a farm garden during thw WW2 era.
Some cool artefacts Ellie. History before lucre👌"Warts and all!" said Oliver. "To Hell or to Connaught!", said he. Being of Cornish/ Eire blood, Oliver is "disliked". A dreadful man, imo.

window catch off a sash and case window I say its WW1 soldier, another great video Ellie
Super info any idea on date for the sash catch?
@@miss_detectorist I know it’s a window catch because l fitted lots of them being a carpenter
Brilliant you were totally in your element there my favourite find is the latch, a bit of old world history there 😊 thanks for sharing this 😎
I really like the latch too!

Thanks for sharing Ellie. I think the button is a general service button WW2 👍
Wonderful location and interesting history. Not many places that have such old structures still standing and being used.
Bath is full of them but you’re spot on it is a super interesting place to have permission to detect!
Hi Ellie the coin you found laying on top of the ground you called a ship coin is a pre decimal half penny i love watching your videos ❤❤
I've Got 3 Cromwellian Coins !!!
Brilliant ❤
What a lovely place to hunt around..
Really exciting can’t wait to get back! It’s not often you have historical characters attached to permissions.
@ must be very rare, you are very lucky and it’s great you can share it with your followers 👍🏻❤️

Thank you I should have known - and now I do!
Good to see you out hon. Problem with detecting many old yards is they use fill dirt. Here in the states anyway. Looking lovely Miss Ellie
Absolutely - and I’m sure that has happened here over time

Those socks are going to stay on there till they fall off then go straight in the 🚮

Nice video Ellie! Has the battlefield been 'detected' ?
Im sure there is still a lot to find in the area.
I’m sure someone has permission it’s miles of landscape part of which was our old sports fields!
I have the exact same toy soldier . Found in Australia :)
Oh wow! Is it a complete one?

Hi there - it’s amazing to have the chance to detect private land here in the UK, much of it has historical stories to tell! 🇬🇧🙂
You lucky lass. I've always been interested in the English Civil War. The battle of Adwalton Moor was fought near me. I have several local permissions and have found artifacts that date from that period - musket balls, pistol shot and Rose Farthings 👍

Ok thank you for the lead I will look it up!
That Spike Could Be A Bronze Awl !!!
I’ve found two Bronze Age tools. It wasn’t bronze, it was twisted - nothing special I don’t think!
Interesting collection of finds. You didn't mention the Charles I coin, I guess you didn't find that there!
No I didn’t find it there but it’s of the same period so I was just admiring it alongside! I show it in my recent LIVE linked in the description.
try under the wall - theoretically if it was the edge of the battle there should be some musket balls
around there - either dropped or hitting the wall
Yeah I popped over that side but it’s being used as a builder’s rubbish area with lots of screws and other modern bits
Everything you found is stuff that could have been from around 1940, which leads me to believe that that site may have been a farm garden during thw WW2 era.
It’s possible. Obviously the house itself is 15th century and onwards. And the escutcheon has been confirmed as mid 17 century.
Gardens are the way forward 😂
So much in a small area! Very good tactic 🙂
Some cool artefacts Ellie. History before lucre👌"Warts and all!" said Oliver. "To Hell or to Connaught!", said he. Being of Cornish/ Eire blood, Oliver is "disliked". A dreadful man, imo.
Definitely a divisive character - great to have some actual names behind a place
OK, so; I think it’s safe for me to speak on everyone’s behalf when I ask about the “good times”….
@@jeffheld3971 😂😂 good times, good times
People were not happy back in the 16th century, nothing has changed since 😆
😂
