Ed’s Nova, the oldest one still in existence, @6:30 is absolutely stunning. Not many folk know how you get into a Nova because it doesn’t have conventional doors … the entire roof is raised by hydraulics!
Every two years I organise a coach trip of punters that leave from the Shetland Isles on the overnight ferry, the ferry does it's usual stop in Orkney and we sometimes have one or two folk from there that joins us. We get off at Aberdeen the next morning and get on the coach and spend Thursday driving down to Birmingham. Two fantastic days at the show with two nights in a hotel. Drive up part way on the Saturday evening and have another overnight stay then drive up to Aberdeen on the Sunday to catch the overnight ferry and back home in Shetland on the Monday morning! The entrance fee is pennies compared to what we end up paying! It's a great show and we meet so many lovely folk, we're not going this year so hopefully will head down next year.
@JulianHeath-o8k you've got a good point, if the event is within easy driving distance or local to you then the entrance fee is something you really take notice of. For us it's an excuse for a very good long weekend holiday so the entrance fee gets lumped in with every thing else that we shell out for for the whole weekend.
