I recently got back into Pokémon collecting and investing over the last month or two and your videos have been by far the biggest help for me coming back into the hobby! I figured out that I wanted to narrow down my focus with all of the available products out now all the time. I focus on sealed booster boxes except for specialty sets like Crown Zenith, 151, and the new Paldean Fates coming out. On the specialty sets I go for the PC exclusive ETBs and the sealed displays of the mini tins. Like you said with the PC exclusive ETBs they are limited by not only availability on the Pokémon center website but also geographically where they will ship them. So I think it’s a surefire mover as long as you are willing to wait a few years.

I actually think the PC ETBs are one of the best 5-10 year investments for Pokémon. The much lower print run, 11 packs per box, and the extra exclusive stamped promo. I also think you have to look at the set and even the promo in it. Special Set PCETBs are almost an instant buy for me.

I 100% agree with you. They are printing so many more now and more people are preserving them in mint condition that it’s unrealistic to expect the same returns.

Considering I bought all my Pkmn Center ETBs recently, id say i bought them on a low. I plan on holding them for a long time! Great pieces to look at. I just have trouble making space for all my sealed product now (i have been going nuts buying cards lately lol)
That's the hard part when it really builds up. Starts taking up a whole room 😅
They also sell the PC ETB's on the UK Pokemon center, price has always been £49.99 throughout SWSH and SV (not sure why they didn't up the price here, like they did in the US), but as others have said, SV having the promos, especially the stamped one's, make the PC one's really appealing in the UK/US. It's unfortunate that they don't do international orders as I've noticed the PC one's perform really well in the UK. I always buy a couple of spare PC ETB's for SV sets as they tend to be a lot more scarce than booster boxes, especially as I can get them at retail here

i think the key is the stamped promo. 151 pc etbs restocked today and i picked up 4. here in the states they are like 100-120, twice as much as retail. the stamped snorlax promo is 40 alone, which would make sense why it’s around 120 in the secondary market. a pc etb without a stamped promo (swsh) is basically a regular etb w a couple more packs that’s it. in terms of investing just like you said they are more for display, wouldn’t expect big return unless it’s got that stamped promo (sv)

I just pre ordered my 1st Pokemon Centre ETB for Paldean Fates....let's see where its at in 5 years. I think it'll do well and I feel they're worth it solely for the promos.

Great video and I totally agree with your take and thoughts on PC ETBs. The lack of rarity and them printing too many will no longer see the huge gains like in the previous generations. The only thing I would add is that if the set is really popular the ETBs will see great gains but not massive ones. Like PC 151 and Evolving Skies. Love your work and videos. Great job!!

In very interested in reassessing S&V. The stamped promo seems to have driven up demand and eroded supply quickly!
Enjoy the videos, keep up the great work. In regards to these Exclusive ETBs, my opinion is that it is hard to predict at this time. However, the S&V era is different, all Pokemon Center exclusive ETBs have these stamp promos, and in some cases these stamps promos are worth a good amount, what these ETBs have going for them, it is that so far, I am not aware of any re-prints, beginning with Crown Zenith, if they do not re-print, their prospect for better returns will be much better, but, it is too early to tell if they will ever re-print, only time will tell, so it is a calculated risk investing on them.
It's crazy how some S&S are still on the PC website for sale. But it seems Scarlet and Violet are performing better 👌
Anoter great vid mate. I never picked any up because we can't get them direct from PC. However, I did pick up the normal ones for display purpose. I just ignored the secondary market because of the mark up :)

@@pokeoz91 For SWSH, I have a complete set, I have 2 extra for Chilling and Lost Origin. For SM I've got Hidden Fates, Guardian, Dragon Majesty, for XY, only 20th celebrations ETB. I did look for Celestial storm (The one you've got) and team up but man they are expensive now.
I do like the box art and the promo cards you get with a PC ETB, but if I had too choose between a fairly new PC ETB or a Mini Tin Display Box with good packs I’d go with the Mini Tin Display all day long, for us Australians they cost about the same as a Pokemon Center Exclusive ETB, you get more packs inside and the production run is low compared to most other Pokemon products
I didn’t bother buying the 151 PC ETB and instead grabbed three 151 Mini Tin Displays for $145 AUD each back in August, since then they’ve doubled in price, and recently on Black Friday for $148 AUD including postage I bought the Galah Power Mini Tin Display which has Evolving Skies & Fusion Strike booster packs inside, the 1st run had Cosmic Eclipse & Rebel Clash which I also have.
I think they’re an underrated product that flies under radar, and as a sealed investment I personally think these offer greater potential than your standard run of the mill ETB and Pokemon Center Exclusive ETB.

Why...almost ever PC etbs has has a easy 10-20% appreciation day one. And once it's sold out they almost never restock. It's also a collector item just like how GameStop product has done well and then there's the 2 great promos. What does a tin have a piece of plastic and you pay more for the packs just to be in a tin
@@nicksaylor3288 …I don’t how much PC ETB’s are where you’re from but where I’m from in Australia the going rate for a newly released Pokemon Center Exclusive ETB costs around $180 to $200 (Aussie dollars) and that’s not including the cost for postage.
There’s nothing wrong with collecting or investing in ETB’s, I stopped collecting ETB’s after Chilling Reign because I prefer getting more packs for my money and that’s why I decided to invest in mini tin displays (10 tins, 2x packs per tin = 20 packs) I couldn’t give a rats about the coins inside, you get coins in ETB’s and UPC’s as well and people aren’t buying those products for the coins.
I think long term the mini tin display compared to a PC ETB will be more liquidable, and that’s not because they’ll be worth more than a PC ETB in the future, it’s because you can break them down and sell the mini tins individually.
The short answer: yes, PC ETBs are better if you have access to them at retail from the Pokémon Center. Especially the SV era versions.
If you have to buy them on the secondary market, I don’t think they’re bad purchases, but I agree you need to manage your expectations for their future growth.

Hey PokeOz, I've been watching you now for 5+ months and have constantly enjoyed your educated and knowledgeable insight which has definitely influenced my decisions buying Sealed products recently. I'm just wanting to ask, you've said a few times we're never going to have the crazy 400%-500% gains of yester-year (pandemic lol) but due to the current massive printing of everything, is there anything that could have something near a 100%-200% growth in 1-2 years? Obviously not possible to say what exactly, but what would you say could be the type of product this would be? A Booster box of a certain set? Buying singles that could appreciate due to lack of supply/increased demand? Genuinely love your channel although some of the low prices makes my English ass cry in GBP so keep it up! :)

If anything, PC etb’s are better because everyone has to buy them at the same entry point. Also they are more limited than normal etbs and have the stamped promo. This is only for etbs from crown zenith and newer tho
Buying at retail in the U.S isn't a bad plan. I do like the stamped promo in S&V 👌

Booster boxes are king, but I'd say the PC ETBs are a decent investment. There is some form of exclusivity to them and they do come with the stamped promo now. Much better than a normal ETB which seem to be more then plentiful these days. Only time will tell though!

As im new to sealed investing i didnt know that there was two types of etbs. I got a silver tempest none pc and a 151 etb non pc i did get them under msrp. But from now on ill try to get the pc versions. I do agree the paldea evolved etb looks pretty cool. Ill have to try and snag one when i get some extra cash. Good insight your share with everyone.

That’s my number one issue with investing, although we should all still invest in some way, the extremely lucrative money wise items are usually the scarce products even if it’s not extremely popular

There's a lot of factors that come into it, isn't there!
It’s like with everything supply and demand is going to control the prices of these products. With the economy in the state it is across the globe I’m using this as an opportunity to pick up pretty much anything that’s 20 to 30% below It’s three-year running price. I’ve been working with sellers on eBay for their vintage sun, and moon and other era items. is always when people are most afraid so I’m buying! Keep up the great content!

starting with Sv base they started adding special stamped versions of the etb promo along side the regular one in the pokemon center version. why seeing a no growth to previous PC ETBs

i think the holiday boxes will be the only ones that somewhat succeed. I have a case of every PC ETB that has been released and most are kinda mid. These new SV era boxes have a bit more potential, people seem to be collecting the PC stamp promos for a good penny and shows since in canada all the pc etbs from FS-ST are in stock and all SV era have sold out
SV era stamped cards will def help with the value, personally I just wish it was more than a lazy ass stamp

I’m trying to decide on whether to buy a case (4) of 151 PC etbs or a case (10) of regular etbs.
Including shipping, PC case will be roughly $700 and regular will be about $780.
What do you think would be the best play long term?

They do have lower availability and have the better stamped promo, its not a product i do pursue. Where do you buy your products? since in Australia there is no access to these also.
I just constantly look for deals basically, if I think something is way under its perceived value or definitely future value I'll buy 👌
Great video as always. I think current ETBs are living off the hype of past sets. They are so massively printed now. I think a lot of the hype when they sell out are “investors” buying to hold or to sell to other “investors” to hold. This is all without mentioning the shipping costs.
I would rather bet on booster bundles as a secondary product to booster boxes. They are also much cheaper to ship. They are not as proven but for pack ripping they fill that gap of just packs. No dice and no extras just the packs.
Edit: I am referring to regular ETBs here.

Where do you get your data from? Especially for the fusion strike pc etb for instance. Coincidentally I checked last sold on eBay today and I saw them being sold for 180A$. You said they go for 58US$ which is by far less than the 180A$ on eBay. How comes?
TCG player man. Aus market is completely different, that's what I mean by we have to pay a much higher price on the secondary market for them, which sucks hey!
I feel so. This is a two-part answer. One I don't think pokémon elite trainer box are honestly necessary, it just adds a lot more. Two. It stands though, it is a single source product so it has a fixed initial value. Unless you buy it for more on secondary. You will see right regular ETBs on sale and can get them pretty cheap, but pokémon center ETBs will only go so low. The other great point about them lately is how much those promo cards are actually going for. For some reason in this scarlet and violet era promo cards are going for a ton more than they used to. Even if it's the same card with the stamp. Easiest example is the difference in pokémon 151

I get the good vibes when I look at my ETB wall and they have "pokemon center" written on them. Also, as more etbs get opened, the sealed boxes go up in value. It's the long game, 5-10 years.

You mentioned it but downplayed if: Scarlet and violet etbs have the stamped promo which is worth 20-30 dollars alone. so they are a completely different beast than the sword and shield stuff. These are known now, so they sell out almost instantly and I don’t think any have been restocked in the last year really.

I agree with everything basically, PC etb's are a better investment than regular etb's but likely not as good as traditional booster boxes. Longer term, most people won't care about the ancillary stuff inside etb's, they just want packs.
The only real exception I'd add would be specialty sets where booster boxes don't exist, like SV151 or Paldean Fates as recent examples. Then the PC etb's could end up being solid investments
And if it's got a low psa 10 pop promo with a solid pokemon.

In Australia and countries that cant buy direct from a Pokemon centre it is not worth it. But places like America it is worth it.

I pretty much have only bought the PCETBs that contain the pokemon center promo cards. I don't think ETBs are really worth it except to rip packs if you don't have access to booster boxes/bundles.
We'll see what the future holds, but at this stage, it looks like they're not performing as well as booster boxes.

This is personally why im a collector and an investor. Iknow that if my investment doesnt work out that iknow i can sell it anytime for around what i payed for it and invest into something more hyped up. Its always good to just collect a little bit of almost everything. I mean obviously if theres a set that isnt as good as others i normally wont touch it unless its for single cards to sell or keep in my personal collection. Id say before investing know alot more about this hobby. A good investment years ago id say was the vivid voltage pre release kit case. I mean $200 off pre release it had a charizard promo that had i think 3-4 in a case and then at one point was $700 for that sealed product. Now im not sure on its value now id assume maybe $400 but thats still a decent return in the time its been out vs being stuck on a case of etbs that takes years and years to sell for that type of return. My advice to everyone is learn about how this hobby works and also understand what you want vs what other people do and just figure out what purchase is best for you.

Do you think Pokémon center exclusive singles, for ex. The Squirtle that comes with the 151 UPC will hold value through restock?
I mean more supply would normally mean something dips or stabilises if it were going to trend up!

Havent bought any pc etb since the fusion strike one. I like the promos but i am sticking with buying booster boxes. Every thing i pick up that isn’t a BB seems like wasted funds that could have gone into BBs

Think the S/S PC ETBs are suffering an end of set hangover as the focus shifted to the S/V promo ones. Like all hangovers it will pass. If they look good on display they are giving me value even if the price increase is slow.
Flying back to Norway tomorrow from my parents in the UK with the following PC ETBs 2 PE, 2 OF, 3 151. And a Champions Path. No room for the 2x2vPF, they must wait till next time 😢

In the long run they are. The cap just depends on demand in 5 to 10 years. Also the new PC ETBs are much more limited. They aren't reprinting them.
S&V will be better plus a stamped promo!
It’s just a slightly upgraded version of an ETB. That’s it, no need to overthink it. If you have access to buy them at MSRP, you might as well over a regular ETB.

The PC etbs didn’t have the PC promos in them at first. Notice how they have been performing after the PC promos were put into them. Big jumps on most of them. All about the promos
Like staff promos, they always kill it!
Lets all not forget about XY Evolutions - Booster boxes, ETB’s, collection boxes and tins with XY Evo Packs just collecting dust on store shelves for literal YEARS- printed to absolute oblivion but still rose in price dramatically given enough time. I think the reality is when there is an abundance of product at low prices, no one wants it, but as soon as stock starts drying up and prices begin to rise, everyone seems to want it 😂 just my thoughts.

I think they are a low risk long term investment, they don't get reprinted as of yet. The return isn't going to be crazy but it will go up over time.

I think it is more to do with a cost of living crisis and people having less disposable income right now. 22/23 has been a tough year with energy prices sky rocketing and collectors tend to be adults who have other responsibilities. I think the return will come once people can afford to spend more

It's not hard to buy from the pokemon center being in Australia. All you have to do is have 3rd party address in the us.

First, no love for CZ ETBs?? Their Pokemon Center editions are going for over $100 US.
Also, I was hoping you'd touch on the scarcity factor a bit. Most, if not all sell out pretty quick on pokemon center, indicating they weren't printed anywhere near to the quantities of the regulars. That's what gives me hope.

If it has a good promo that someone will want in the future it’ll do well. Obsidian flames charmander, paldea evolved pika, 151 snorlax, paldea fates mimikyu are all popular pokemon and the only way to get the stamped promo. The S&V PC ETBs are far superior to the SWSH ones.
The stamped promo has stepped up the game of PC ETBs for sure!

I still think pc etbs are printed too heavily and the price entry is too low to really take off at least for quite a while.

Hi, i love your Channel, i’m listening it since 4 months. I bought a lot of the Best booster box of sword & shield in the past two months. I would like your advise for my next purchase ! I want to invest 2000 us $ my options is Evolving Skies booster box or Hidden Fates Etb. At the current Market Which one you think is going to perform better in the next 3-5 years and is your opinion would be different if we are looking to a 5-10 years investment. Thank You very much :)

There can be some good tins out there for sure!
I think it's unfair to analyze the prices of these newer ETBs. These are sets that are still in print and are still being sold on the pokémon center. I think onece the sets go completely out of print, the ETB price will appreciate naturally. Until then I think they will be stuck at or under MSRP.
Couple of those mentioned aren't available but you're right a fair few still are!
I believe they aren’t a great investment in Australia. They’re overpriced and harder to get here and not very liquid. No one wants to open them etc so they have a lesser customer base. Also the plain ETB’s almost identically make the same gains over a period of time except for some outliers. Just my experience
It's a shame because the artwork on some are sweet! Just doesn't make sense to pay the hugely inflated price here.

At first when you said pc etbs were a bad investment I was confused. But in reality you just don’t know what’s actually going on but that’s fine. HEAR ME OUT. All the scarlet violet pc etbs are out of stock on pc and they have been almost the second they release. The print run is ridiculously low. These will be very very rare in the future. Probobly more rare then the OG etbs.

Just wish Pokemon centre would make the box designs much more different such as Crown Zenith & Pokemon Go were.Obsidian flames & paldean fates are too similar to look at!
The promo's need to be totally different as well as having the Pokemon centre stamp on one promo card is quite poor return really.
Why can't Pokemon centre introduce a unique promo or two of them for each Pokemon centre etb to set them apart!?
At present there's not enough to make the Pokemon centre etbs outstandingly collectable & they seem to have gone backwards on outward appearances.even Pokemon centre evolving skies etbs were different so you had 4 different designs to collect.
Perhaps you can persuade Pokemon to enclose more unique & different promo's as exclusive compared to standard etbs if this makes sense!
Even the Pokemon centre lost origin etb has a giratina pin enclosed which is a nice difference.

Everything is in a downturn right now across the board for all collectables. People are starting to feel the sqeeze from world wide inflation. 5 years from now all these boxes will be a good profit.
Ebay sales are still strong though. But you're right, people are definitely feeling the pinch!
@@pokeoz91 eBay does have good sales traffic but their fees are crazy. I use to sell a lot on it. I sell mainly on tcgplayer and mercari now but prices have started to fall drastically so holding out on all single and sealed products. Been buying more than ever though.
We’re in a down market so most likely everything will be low compared to the beginning of the year. Entry point price and growth is still a good investment. I’m bullish etb investment

Let's be honest. The only reason these sword and shield PC etb prices are falling because they are still available for purchase as of now. But once they are not available anymore, they will continue to trend upwards
