  • Follow Director of the Games Dave Castro as he travels to five different host cities for the 2016 live Open announcements. Castro offers insights into how he prepares for each announcement and explains his thought processes in creating the Open workouts. "I don't create them in isolation," he explains. "You have to look at all five weeks. It's almost like creating a piece of art."

    I love so many things about this channel. The community bond you see when you visit boxes all across the world. How dedicated and unified you all are as a team. How vigorously Dave prepares and runs the whole Crossfit operation. To the editing and cinematography of the videos. But mostly the way your goal is to leave this world better than you found it. Crossfit has the best intentions and those who believe in it are often those who along the journey learn to believe in themselves.

    Awwww I loved this. Dave Castro is one of my favorite Crossfit personalities (although not so much right after I finished 16.5) -- this is my first year doing the Open and I can't wait to go watch Regionals! This video got me even more excited!!

    I appreciate the hard work that goes into making these videos. Not only has crossfit helped me get my life into to shape and increase my fitness but the guidance it takes to orchestrate it all like ex. Gregg Glassman, Dave Castro, Pat Sherwood, the announcers .. provides me with a mold to become a better mentor for other people, which will ultimately lead to a better future for all.

    People may think you're a huge prick Dave, but you're an intelligent and powerful businessman as well as a genius programmer. And you care about Crossfit more than anything and take it extremely seriously, which is admirable. Nice to see a Navy vet succeed so much, you deserve it brother. Thanks for all you do.

    In other videos (I've never met him in person) Dave Castro can seem cheesy or arrogant. I'm grateful for this peek into the efforts and motivation behind the work he does and how he feels about it. CrossFit has changed so many lives for the better--mine included--if I ever do meet Dave Castro I will tell him thank you for his part in that.

    You can see how the guy used to be a Navy Seal. Those guys are just trained and drilled into being a better human than us. They are just a lot less lazy than the average person. Have a goal, create a plan, work hard, achieve the goal, then move on. Guys a legend!!

    This definitely shed a different light on "the" Dave Castro. I mean, all I saw for years was the overly-dramatic announcement pauses, mic drops, and cursing out grunt workers at the games for saying "good morning" to him. Those are all still terrible things but I get that he cares a ton for crossfit and I understand his analytical approach to what he does given his Navy background.

      @VirgilRicks 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @VirgilRicks
      @VirgilRicks 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Anthony Munoz I have nothing but respect for Castro, my comment was referring to Jacob's and attempting to say that Dave Castro already went head to head with a "normal" crossfitter in Ro and Boz. I apologize if my comment came across as disrespectful.

    • @anthonymunoz4422
      @anthonymunoz4422 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +VirgilARicks oh no this is not at all directed towards towards you. Was replying to the initial comment. Like why do people care if this dude is in great shape or not? like how does that take away from the validity in the workouts that he creates? Why would u want to see him go up against an "average Joe crossfitter?" So that he can lose, and then what? "Oh he's not in shape enough to be CF games director." Seriously who fucken cares.
      This response isn't just geared toward this one comment it's directed toward all the Dave Castro haters. Like gtfoh. Couldn't think of a better dude to be head of the CF games.

    • @alrightalrightalright6165
      @alrightalrightalright6165 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Tommy Geairn Coming from a communications and public speaking background... he's really just thinking too much. You can also teach someone only so much at about speaking. Generally, great public speakers are naturals. It comes down to confidence, knowing your material, reading an audience, and being flexible. I think he tries to stick to his script and game plan too strictly. You have to be fluid when you speak. Thinking about pauses too much and making sure you hit every single word on the script makes it unnatural. Also, as director I don't think he has enough people, if any, approving his scripts or going over them with him. Getting a speaking coach could help. Experience goes a long way as well. Give him time. He'll get there. He said himself that he is shy. Public speaking for shy people is no easy task. Props to him for doing it so much.

    Castro maybe dedicated to this, but his delivery comes across as so arrogant. All that time spend practicing and it's still horrible. This is the face people want for CrossFit?
    Castro's true arrogance was on display at the black box summit. I understand people get emotional but Castro never apologized for the events. After all these years it wouldn't mean anything if he did now, because he clearly isn't sorry about it. If you don't know what the black box summit is, google it. There are other accounts of the event besides Robb Wolf's.
