    I've come to find that anyone who dishes out shit on Crossfit, has either never tried it, or tried it, and got beat by one of our girls.

    Can people quit hating on Crossfit? Everyone has their own personal preference on how they want to train. Just because you don't agree with how crossfit works doesn't justify that your opinion is always right. If you're a body builder, then body build. If you're a power lifter then power lift. If you're a crossfitter, then crossfit. The names of the types of training categorizes it for a reason. Not all types of training are going to be the same, they're all extraordinary in their own way. Don't sweat the fact that Crossfit unimpresses you, just get on with your life and keep doing you instead of judging what other athletes do themselves.

      I really like crossfit, but the trouble that I run into is when they seem to say that they have the definitive definition of fitness. If they said "we are doing our best to find the fittest athletes on earth because of such and such criteria, but we know we can always improve our measuring scale and keep working to make it better." If they admitted that they weren't perfect and that other types of training are legitimate, then they would be a bit more endearing to the average watcher.

      Don't get me wrong, I like CrossFit, I think it's very healthy. But the thing that for some reason I can't easily accept, is that CrossFit calls kipping pull ups as just pull ups.
      Although there's no patent nor copyright related to the naming, but calling it just pull up is not very nice.

    Fittest on Earth is a bold statement. I'm glad Crossfit opens up doors for those to get involved in some sort of athletic competition, but depends on a person's goals. I do crossfit for the cardio and I enjoy the box, but I lift traditionally because that's where I get my strength. I can't sacrifice strict from and think that is making fitter. Crossfit is great, but no better than any other regiment when a person puts 100 % into it.

    Very, very, impressive. I am 78 and train as hard now as I did when I took up bodybuilding when I was 58. I hate being this age, but I love being an athlete. CrossFit brings it to a level unimaginable. As my video said in an almost amateur way 'this (working out balls to the wall) is a mental game.

    Wow.....Incredible video which just completely changes your view of Crossfit. Yes, there are calisthenics athletes who will disagree with their gymnastic movements, but at the end of the day, Crossfit is pretty incredible. I used to be a hater, but after watching these guys, I got a true understanding of the extent which they go to everyday just to make the Crossfit Games. Pretty damn inspiring.

    One of the most inspirational docs i have ever seen. Makes me love this sport even more. I started out at my box doing boot camp, and once Ramadan was over my coaches basically kicked me out and told me i was ready to start crossfit. Since day one i've been honestly surprised at what i can accomplish when properly motivated and encouraged. I highly recommend crossfit to any and all people no matter their fitness level.

    Excellent explanation of what CrossFit truly is. I too have heard the debates of what sport or physical activity is better or best. But I have always sided with CrossFit for the obvious reasons. At least obvious to me.
    Now after watching, listening and learning about the deeper mental thoughts about CrossFit, I have a greater appreciation for it.
    Basically, CrossFit is life. You train for the expected but mostly for the unexpected. Preparing both mind and body for the unknown and having the courage to take it on.
    I am a 57 year old man that is not anywhere close to being a Cross Fitter, but I want to thank all the Cross Fitters out there. You inspire me to look deeper into myself and into others.
    God Bless you all!

    I'm dying to try CrossFit. I've read through so many post. I'm into bodybuilding but I also run (18 miles a week) and do lots of types of cardio. I always work out to exhaustion by either lowering weights as I workout or compounded my exercises with other exercises. I walk out of the gym drenched in sweat and completely drained. My primary concern is what I've learned from bodybuilding. From my personal experience, form is key and knowing the limitations of your body is what has kept me injury free for 20+ years. It's pretty evident when weight training is done correctly, age is of little concern. There are 50+ bodybuilders that have incredible bodies and unbelievable fit in the gyms I attend. I've researched injuries in CrossFit and I've found lots of horror stories. In defense of CrossFit, I've seen in countless forums that this is were proper coaching comes into play. My major concern with CrossFit are injuries and sustainability long term.
    It would be great if an official video was made on the matter. I'm sure this would cause an influx of other niches of the fitness community. I'm always open minded to new forms of training. However, every time I bring up CrossFit, I always get barraged with negative commentary from all types within the fitness community: bodybuilders, power lifters, runners, gymnast, and others. Since CrossFit is a new sport, I think this is what plagues a lot of the challenges of people ever taking it seriously. Again, I'm neutral on the matter. I just want to know. Any information would be helpful, especially researched scientific journals.

      I used to work in physical therapy and have seen a ton of injuries from bodybuilding. I used to compete on stage and had more pain and was less fit doing the typical gym stuff than I ever did doing crossfit. If done correctly and form is main priority you'll get stronger faster bigger etc quicker than you will bodybuilding and injury won't be an issue. If you go out hard as crap without form you'll get hurt

    I love this video, I NOW truly know what Cross-Fit is. I wish i had heard of this at the beginning of this millennium when i started in the fitness Industry. My direction would have been quite different. Now i know why there are so many down-noser's, haters and general misunderstood people over Cross-Fit Athletes; these athletes are so awesomely incredibly excellent at pushing what the human mind, body and spirit can do, that average people have no other response for what they are seeing.
    The Cross-Fit Games is the result of 40-50 years of natural progression of the gym / fitness / exercise science industry. Anything that enhances the 'Human Experience' like this competition has to be applauded.

    I usually ask myself what is the point of being specifically eg. a sprinter/swimmer/ cyclist etc just to improve on those few more milliseconds for a whole entire career; or weightlifter/strongman/athletic field performer just to rack a few more pounds or jump/throw little further having to spend years of training just so to push into these "insignificant" no. measurements of performance (PRs) ; just because athletes tend to get a little obsessed with competing with others or fighting themselves on minor PRs in their field or as normally happens their hobby turns into a same routine job . The way of the warrior is to practice everything that's how you measure fitness; and instead of wasting most of that extensive time just to get a little better on one specific fitness component were progress tends to get slower and slower by time, its much more worth the effort and TIME to train and switch on to something else while maintaining always the acquisition of levels of fitness to help you get into a more well-round complete machine in the most efficient way; enabling to handle your body like non others can (hence FITNESS). For me they have created all these culture/labels were everyone has to mold into when in reality this whole world is like a playground and so is our body. Its crazy like imagine even Lance Armstrong who spent all those painstaking years so he could prove to the world how Fit he is, the moment he stopped and stepped into the marathon arena he failed terribly in his results. So for me it appears as if he suffered and sacrificed a lot without gaining/exploiting too much of his body and what it can do, and so to EXPERIENCE more the reality of what one can achieve! So is for me the mistake of many athletes who are trying to get fit, except the fact that im not talking about those who only take their sport lightly just for fun or to help them stay away from bad habits or else too seriously but for those who want to call themselves a warrior were they have good balance of everything some of whom with specific extremities or unique qualities to count instead of a mere performer or athlete in a single mold to conform honing their ability when its quite pathetic when considering the amount of dedication just to improve so little or call yourself lil better. I believe the latter is only effective for genetically gifted people who are also ambitious in carving their name on the records as far as human limits can go, but if you are not eg, in case of sprinting Usain Bolt or Powell or anyone in the top 50 of the world or so in any kind of sport than i dont see the reason why to waste your life to mould unto one mold of culture.
    Besides all this i think Crossfit has all to do with potentiality of capability in athleticism/ Motor firing (less/basic Skill) but to a certain extent not so much advanced Skill/ Motor control is required emphasized in Sport ! So for me Crossfit doesnt qualify as a sport but what ties all sport together!

    people still don't understand. CROSSFIT IS NOT A TYPE OF TRAINING. its a BRAND. people who compete in these FITNESS competitions just train in different methodologies. if you think your methodology is better, then challenge someone who trains multiple methodologies and see if you are OVERALL fitter

      Perfect explanation. CrossFit has certain techniques that you will likely be called upon to do in competition (muscle ups, weightlifting, burpees, etc). However, the training is not monolithic. Training varies hugely from box to box.

    I honestly can not see how anyone could watch this video without any type of bias and say these aren't the fittest on earth. those who compete in the iron man triathlon all know what they're training for these guys dont. moreover Those that compete in that race is basically straight up endurance and from what I can see the cross fit games is that plus strength which includes weight lifting and gymnastics and actual athletic ability. From what I see no on else attacks the human body for athletic results like cross fit does. I can be wrong but I'd like to see the proof to prove me wrong.

There's nothing to subjective about this and don't get me wrong I'm not just some random cross fit fan boy commenting on you tube videos. From top to bottom there isn't a area of fitness that isn't tested in the cross fit games if there is something missing please let me know but as far as overall fitness goes they are the best at the moment until someone makes something more demanding. Also you said not enough endurance ? you go do heavy snatches and 21 med ball ghp sit ups and then tell me how much endurance it took and when your finished with that 27 thrusters 4 legless rope climbs 21 thrusters 3 legless ropeclimbs 15 thrusters 2 legless rope climbs 9 thrusters and a rope climb and then tell me cross fit doesn't have enough endurance dude. And I hear you with the drugs but go watch some of those Olympics documentaries they tell you everyone was on drugs man. You can't single cross fit people out as if its only something freakishly wrong about them when damn near every athlete competing at the top levle of their respective sports are on drugs. Like I said man they cover all aspects of fitness and no one else does if so tell me who and I'll change my opinion till then cross fit is at the top of fitness.

    I kind of want to see how they adapt to snow/cold/ice and the challenges that adds to fitness, but the games are in summer.

    • @Gnorde
      @Gnorde 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As far as adding more difficulty to the games, summer would be the most. Sure snow and ice would make some workouts difficult, but the fact that it's cold would just help the athletes. I would say I wish they would have it maybe in a enclosed room though. Mostly because I feel the athletes are fighting against the Heat more then the workouts half the time. At that point it becomes who's genetics can handle the heat better? It is an interesting part of the games though. I'm sure Dave has thought about it.

    I thought I was interested in Crossfit until I watched this. LOL. Props to these people to have the dedication and drive that they have for this. It's absolutely amazing. But I realize that there is a difference in the simple desire to be healthy and capable and being a "Crossfitter". I think I'll stick with my gym routine, belly dance and bharatanatyam classes and circus school. I'm good with that! LOL.

      I see where you are coming from you and partly agree, but check this out... The Crossfit Games aren't Crossfit. They're the games. You can't compare what happens everyday in every Crossfit gym to what happens in the games. The two are at such different levels. What you are saying is like I am not going to play Hockey because those dues in the NHL are too good, it took to much of their time, etc.

    "Fitness" applies to the challenge. If the situation were lifting a dropped car off of someone, you'd want a strongman or powerlifter, who'd be the fittest for that challenge. If your challenge was to escape a high speed predator, you'd want an olympic sprinter, who'd be the fittest for that ... For a spectrum of diverse physical challenges, crossfit is near the top, but add in personal combat or something off their spectrum and an MMA athlete would excel. "Fittest" is in the eye of the beholder, in my opinion.
    Whatever works! Try to get off the couch and move your body. You'll feel great and be healthier & happier! :)

    • @casualarrogance
      @casualarrogance 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      John Fitzsimmons doesn’t work like that. fitness has to be broad and general. Weak with endurance is not fitness, strong but with no stamina is not fitness. You are really fit if you are balanced in all the 10 physical aspects of fitness.

      Patrick Esper You double spaced after every single period in your pathetic attempt to belittle a stranger on the internet, who of which isn't even an adult, therefore your argument is flagged as invalid by the very first sentence of your worthless comment. Oh and also you forgot to add an s to "use" in the parenthesized correction. Remember what Obi-Wan says to the guy trying to sell him cigarettes in Star Wars Episode 2? I think it's time you "go home and re-think your life."
