  • I loved my time with the X100VI but I couldn't shake one thought. Why did it release at such a higher price than its predecessors?
In this review I'll take you through some of the Fujifilm X100VI main features and upgrades over previous cameras including the 5HR sensor and X 5 Processor. I'll also discuss who this is for and if you should be looking elsewhere.

But seriously, I'd love to play with a rigged out GFX like that. Looked so fun.

Thanks for the review. I have the camera and like it. One thing I am not too fond of and that's the bokeh. Pretty busy, reminds me of old lenses. When taking pictures with foliage in the background, I find the bokeh super busy. This could be found in your picture of the 'parrot'. My Leica Q3 has a buttery smooth bokeh. I guess it's the compromise for having such a compact design!

What is a “busy” bokeh?? I know what bokeh is, but don’t know what’s busy bokeh

    • @Eliehbk

@@wuzcategui The background has a lot of details or patterns, making it visually cluttered or distracting. It’s a matter of taste.

Ignoring the price of the Q3, it's f1.7 on full frame. The X100VI is approximately an f3 full frame equivalent. That alone obviously has a huge impact on bokeh smoothness.
You would need a f1.1 lens or so on the the X100VI to match the Leica wide open. Which is almost impossible without making the camera too big.

@@CharlesFBI I have 50mm f1.2 vintage lenses on FF that have very busy bokeh. It's how the lens is. I guess they had to make some compromises to have the size so small.

I don't understand the complaint about battery. Rather than larger battery why don't bring spare one? More battery is better

Not really a complaint, it's just good to mention how long people can expect one battery to last.

Doesn’t need to be FF. it just works….very well. I took 1000+ shots on a recent trip to the Far East. All bar one crystal clear and the film sims worked very well. The one out of focus shot was my fault as I’d accidentally moved the focus setting from single to continuous when taking out of my bag and clicking far too quickly so not allowing the green box lock on (it was red so told me not in focus at the time).
Battery life is fine but I have a reserve just in case. Never needed it as I worked out my shots before shooting. IBIS was superb down some beautiful caves. ND worked really well to get waterfalls looking buttery smooth.
Some good extras are the superb smallrig aluminium grip, the Nisi filter that screws straight on, making it water resistant, and the Peak Design cuff.
Yes it’s expensive but good stuff is. Given it costs about the same as one of my Canon L lenses, it’s still good VFM for the quality.

@@timetraveler_0 my 29 yr old daughter is packing in her steady job and doing a well planned world tour starting with a girl guide project in Northern India, the Nepal, Far East, NZ, lots of South America, Costa Rica, west coast of the USA and getting back about a year later. Her sister will join her in Costa Rica. I’m a bit worried but she’s a very well organised and sensible person and meeting up with friends along some of the way. Working out what small and relatively cheap camera to take is a challenge. I’ve offered her my 2 yr old iPhone 13 Pro as it does brilliant 4K video and has 512gb. She’s ’thinking about it’ but an android fan.
I know there is a new small waterproof Pentax coming. The little Olympus looks good but only 12mp. Think she needs about 20-24mp, 4K, waterproof and cheapish (say £500/$650). Any suggestions? Need it within a month.

Viewfinder works really well in both optical and digital mode. Optical really helps with fine framing as you can see what just around the edge of the shot. It’s also crystal clear cf all non SLRs. Mirrorless is always a simulation regardless of EV resolution.

I was in a park in Shanghai the other week and using both the X100VI and a back up Canon M5, then a visitor asked me to take a photo of him and his lady on his Canon D5 mk 4 and 50mm 1.2f.
Wow I was nearly blinded by the light and crystal clarity of the lens. The images we checked were superb (as they should be on a £4K set up)
Even going back to the Fuji optical was a bit of a downer …

You can buy so much better for this ridiculous price.

    • @andrewcrossley2448
      @andrewcrossley2448 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

Like what? It outperforms any Sony at the price (lens quality is always an issue with cheaper Sony). Same for cheap Nikons.
The Canon R series only get into the game at the R6 Mk 2 or 5D Mk 3 or 4. New all of those bodies cost more than the full Fuji camera. An equivalent quality Canon lens will be £800+.
Fuji XT5 is a viable option but in essence this X series has all the same workings, plus a lens, plus ND filter.
Then find a camera with flash sync up to crazy speeds too…there are none.
In the right hands the X100VI is a bargain, in the tik tok brigades’ hands it’s a waste of its inherent quality.
It’s a photographers travel camera not a vloggers selfie tool. iPhones are better for that (but cost not much less).
Unless you have one, learn how to use it properly, then get out there with it, any comments on ‘what’s better’ are ill informed.
