    I don't drink alcohol and my GP has been monitoring my high ALK for almost a year. I am fed up and don't know why I am not referred. Now today I have another repeat for LFT in 6 weeks.

      Thank you for sharing your concerns. I’m sorry to hear about your frustration with the current management of your test results. While I cannot provide specific medical advice here, I encourage you to discuss your concerns openly with your doctor to gain more clarity. It’s possible that some investigations have already been planned that you might not be aware of.
      In general, if liver tests are normal and alkaline phosphatase levels are less than 1.5 times the upper reference limit, monitoring may be the appropriate course of action. However, determining whether the elevated alkaline phosphatase originates from the liver or another source is an important next step. If you feel your concerns are not being addressed, it may be worth discussing it further your doctor 🙏

    I have had this for over 5 years. No one has been able to tell me why but I do have a vit d deficiency and Hashimoto’s thyroiditis.

    • @practicalgp
      @practicalgp  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is an autoimmune disease and the true cause is not clearly understood. It could be genetic, environmental or a combination of the two.
      Vitamin D deficiency should not be longstanding as long as you have adequate initial loading supplementation to correct it and long term maintenance thereafter. I’d recommend discussing this with your doctor again to make sure that you get all your questions answered 🙏

    Good day and thank you for the video. Would an Omeprazole prescription also cause elevated alkaline phosphatase ? My wife, 51 years old female always had normal levels along with everything else. Earlier this year she was prescribed Omeprazole and now has triple AlkPhos levels. She's awaiting further testing.

    • @practicalgp
      @practicalgp  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your comment. Omeprazole is not typically associated with significantly elevated alkaline phosphatase levels. However, as with any medication, individual responses can vary and there have been rare reports of transient liver enzyme changes in some people taking omeprazole, meaning that some people may be more sensitive to medication effects. I am pleased that she is having further investigations, so that you can all put your mind at rest. There may be a simple explanation for this abnormality 🙏

    My dad have this is 527alp what is the reason no body was found what is the problem some doctors said it is cancer it is true

    • @practicalgp
      @practicalgp  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for your comment. There may be many reasons why ALP may be raised. Whilst cancer is a possibility, it is by no means the most likely cause, so it is not necessary to jump to conclusions or put yourself in the worst-case scenario. The important thing is that your dad sees a doctor and that he has the necessary investigations and regular monitoring. If he has been properly investigated and no cause is found, that is good news. There are physiological variations and genetic factors that can lead to high levels without being a concern. I am sorry that I cannot give any more specific advice here, but the important thing is that he sees a doctor and gets checked regularly 🙏

    my ALP level is 137 U/L, and bilirubin 1.25 mg/dl, I have fatigue and slight norexia. All other hepatic parameters are normal. USG showed hepatomegaly with fatty change. Can NAFLD cause this isolated rise in ALP and slight increase in bilirubin? Thanks

    • @practicalgp
      @practicalgp  28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you for your comment. NAFLD can potentially cause the findings you've described, but it may warrant further investigations to exclude other conditions as well. I cannot offer medical advice here so I would recommend that you discuss this further with your doctor 🙏

    Great explanation Sir. Sir I have 125U/L ALP Uric acid is at 9.7 and I am having foamy urine. With no other symptoms or findings. I Run everyday for 45mins. And on intermittent fasting for weightloss. Do suggest why do I have foamy urine. 🙏🏻

    • @practicalgp
      @practicalgp  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your comment. I cannot give medical advice here and I would suggest that you discuss your symptoms with a doctor, so that you can be thoroughly checked. From a general perspective, foamy urine can have various causes, and some of them can be completely harmless. Please note that dehydration can concentrate your urine, making it more likely to foam. So, when you exercise frequently and practice intermittent fasting, it's possible that you might not be drinking enough water, especially if you're sweating a lot during your runs. Also, if you're eating a protein-rich diet (common with some intermittent fasting routines or weight-loss plans), it may cause a temporary rise of protein in the urine, which can also result in foamy urine.
      On a separate matter, both your ALP and uric acid are on the high side but, as long as you have them investigated and managed by your doctor, I would not be unduly concerned 🙏

    cant sleep since i saw my mother's report
    ALT is 95 U/L
    AST is 102 U/L
    Alkaline phosphotase is 355 U/L
    Please sir; kindly suggest me what is happening.

    • @practicalgp
      @practicalgp  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thank you for your comment. There may be many reasons why ALP may be raised. Because of the high ALT and AST levels, a liver issue is a possibility, but we should not jump to conclusions. Although the levels are raised , they are not extreme and you should not put yourself in the worst-case scenario and it may just be a very manageable issue. The important thing is that your mother has the necessary investigations and regular monitoring. I am sorry that I cannot give any more specific advice here, but the important thing is that he sees a doctor and gets checked regularly 🙏
