  • It is time to bring the 911 up to date on service. Maintenance items due are the annual oil and filter change along with the annual four wheel alignment. This video outlines the basic steps taken to perform an oil and filter change on a 997.1 Turbo along with a rough outline on the procedure for doing a computerized four-wheel-alignment. I have also included some highway pulls with the new custom exhaust setup and new steering wheel installed. The car is running the best it ever has and this is what it takes to keep it that way. Love your car, they'll love you back.

    Thank god for this dude. So glad I found him. I’m trippin about modifying mine tho, 2007 turbo 23k miles. I want to, I do. I’m afraid of what it’ll do to the value, but I want to get the most out of the car and do it the way I want to do it. I don’t know what to do. I’m fuckin torn.

      Thank you for the feedback! It means a lot. It's your car and I would encourage you to do with it what you please. There's so much locked potential for these things in stock form and even slightly modifying them opens up many new dynamics of the car.
      Values of them are on the rise, and you'll indeed gain the most with a stock-low mileage example, however, I think you'll have the least fun with it by taking that route. If you keep the modifications reversible, and retain all the factory parts, you will by no means kill the value to where you'll lose money; a modified 07 with 23k miles recently sold for $84k after fees on BaT.. a few years ago, the same car would have been in the 60's.

    Great video and old school beats in the background. I can't wait for spring weather to hit the Chicagoland area to get my Turbo on the road. Is that your shop? I'd love to have such a place to work on my cars. Stay safe and happy motoring!

    That exhaust sounds nuts. Just from watching the video I can almost feel how brutal this car feels, what. a. thing!! Impossible not to love it. The steering/engine/gearbox combo feels delicious for sure.
    Where did you get that exhaust? Does it have any mufflers?

    • @NSXavier997

      Thanks! Appreciate that the cars brutalness came through on camera! No mufflers, just 3” cat deleted x pipe design with resonators. I have another video on here showcasing the exhaust and who made it.

    Good video! And Wow you’ve done a lot of things yourself. Congrats. I had a 996 turbo stick & now a 997 turbo Tiptronic. Do you ever pour some oil in the filter to fill the sump pump or pull fuel fuses to prime it before starting or no? And, do you have a DSC controller? I got one and it made a very nice change to the suspension. Oh, and any idea why my steering is so stiff I see you can turn the wheel with one hand & I can’t I have to grab the wheel or use two hands? Thx

    Just a thought, with both the front and the rear measurement of camber being .4 degrees off. Couldnt that mean that the car or the lift is just a slight bit out of level in the first place?

    • @NSXavier997
      @NSXavier997  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Good DIY video. Does the car need to be level to drain the oil fully? I just have ramps to do work on.

    • @NSXavier997
      @NSXavier997  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! You will probably get the best results having everything 100% level; I would back the car up onto the ramps that you have and then use a floor jack to raise the front of the vehicle and then support it with two jack stands on the two front jack points. That should be the quickest way to set things up while giving you plenty of room to work AND having the car as level as possible.

    What happened to the TE37?

    • @NSXavier997
      @NSXavier997  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rear dish is too deep on the TE37’s to allow the alignment heads to mount to them properly. I swapped to factory wheels to do the alignment, and then put the TE37’s back on when I was done.

    Love the videos, keep them going! Do you have any HP numbers for the custom tune your running? I’ve got a 2009 6-speed Turbo that’s currently tuned to 700 WHP on 93 octane and, while it’s fun, it’s a bit much for the busy roads; I’m in the DMV as well. I’ve been looking to get a milder tune added to my COBB system, something that I could chose to run on most days and was curious to know more about your tune. Thanks!

    • @NSXavier997
      @NSXavier997  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey thanks for the feedback! I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I have never Dyno'd my car, but plan to in the very near future just so I can further custom tune it and get some solid #'s on paper. If I had to guestimate my power level, I would have to say that it is easily making 550whp and probably around 500wtq. The custom tune I had was mainly to fix the COBB OTS map that seem to not run very smooth especially with the variances in fuel quality and ambient temperature changes affecting knock sums. The car is pretty manageable on the streets with this power level... have to be kind of careful on the back windy roads though. Connect with me on Rennlist, 6Speed, or iNsta if you would like to plan to meet up with a private group in the DC/MD/VA @NSXavier

      Since you have the Cobb have you talked to Sam at ByDesign? He has great reviews and when I talked to him he said it would be easy to make my tune run on the safer side of things.

    • @nev997TT

      @@sutherlacd27 I hadn’t heard of him until you mentioned him. Thanks for sharing, he definitely seems to know his stuff!! Too bad I’m on the east coast. For the time being, I’ve created a new preset on my electronic boost controller which reduces the peak boost and rate at which the turbos spool up. Definitely a noticeable decrease in power which is good. With the electronic boost controller at least I have some options at the push of a button. Thanks!
