Hi every body! I enjoy so much all your comments-you have no idea! It is great to know there are people out there still interested in the sport of weightlifting .As part of promoting our fantastic sport, we have to remember and honour and deservingly appreciate the Champions of the past. All this names YOU mentioned in YOUR comments are more or less unknown for the current generation of young lifters. The time passes and soon all these great athletes will be forgotten.
Blagoy Blagoev Hi Mr Blagoev..with all due respect to you i disagree..the achievements of all these wonderful lifters ( in which of course you are included) will never be forgotten..
I remember seeing this lift on TV the day before we held the Australian national weightlifting championships in Hobart. It did kind of put our entire competition in the shade! :)
Hello Mr. Blagoev I hope you will read this. This, and your 195.5 improvement, are two of the greatest snatches of all time. What a thrill we all received from watching you and your illustrious teammates rule the weightlifting world for a long time. I am an artist and I would be happy to send you a drawing I did of you some thirty years ago. I also drew Asen Zlatev and a few of the other Bulgarian greats. I hope you are very well. You are a living legend to us fans. Thanks so much.
Incredible performance - like Zackharevich's 210kg snatch in the 110kg class - flawless technique and superhuman strength. If ever a man was born with the genetics to excel at Olympic Weightlifting - Blagoy is surely him!
@skirts365 Hi there. This is B.Blagoev and you are correct ,I have snatched 195.5 kg in Varna in 1983. I haven't compete against Rigert, because in his days as 90kg legend I was still lifting at 82.5 kg class. But I can definetely say, he wasn't towering over me by more than 1-2 cm.Now days I still stand 171 cm and about 88-90kg
The USSR could not bear its total loss in the bars by the Bulgarian athletes and organized the scandal in Seoul to cover up its loss. Abadjiev is the greatest coach of all time in this sport and his achievements are unsurpassed.
I just saw Blagoev posted here! If he reads this I know a lot of us would love to know his best training lifts including back squat, power snatch etc! It is really great he took the time to post!!
Бяхме добри приятели навремето, но аз заминах за чужбина да уча и останах да живея навън, подобно на Вас. Когато говорих с Митко преди доста години, той ми каза, че живее в България, но не знам дали е все още там. Живи и здрави!
Truly incredible that by sinclair this is STILL the largest snatch ever at 225.27, as opposed to lashas enormous 225 flat because he has no coefficient at his bodyweight. 40 years standing
The greatest weight lifting was done between 1980. And 1992. Clean jerk record of 266 kilos, the pocket Hercules. Uric vardanyan the world records in the 110 kg. Class.
I've met this guy, have seen him lift and train a number of times, The very best snatcher I've ever seen. If you want perfect technique in the snatch, study this guys old films. None better. Didn't he later do 196?
I think Blagoev was the best squat snatcher of all time wuth Schemansky as the best split snatcher. In a two way elinination between them I would have to give overall best all time to Blagoev!
Absolutely an awesome lift, I remember when you guys came to Perth Casino to compete in the Australian nationals around 1991. Kunev , Marinov, Botev , Niku Vlad and Blagoi , what a great difference you guys made to Australian Weightlifting . Awesome Eastern Block power you guys were . We had Harvey Goodman, Phillip Christu, Heffernan that were very good but to have ex world champions lift for Australia was extremely good for the sport here. Recently we've had a few more from Armenia (Chakoian)
Notice that Blagoev doesn't do an exagerated pull , by coming up high on his toes , he lifts it high enough and then pulls himself under the weight . You don't see him come up high on his toes . So it seems to me that he is practicing the so-called catapault , his feet are flat during the extention , thereby he can continue to exert force on the bar and again pull himself under , nuff said !
It's weird, obviously he is incredibly fast and precise, but it looks like he is roundbacked in the pull off the floor. It might be the best snatch of all time but it doesn't really look textbook at all from that angle.
I would rather see a person lift half that without the use of drugs. These guys aren't impressive at all. If they didn't use the stuff you would never have heard of them.
@@IlianNachev without cheating there wouldn't be this level, the level would be where humans using only what they were born with and developed naturally would be at the top and many of these people wouldnt be at the top anymore.
SIMPLE : OVER SHADOWED BY THE ARMENIAN GREAT YURI VARDANIAN...HOWEVER BLAGOEV 2 LIFTS HERE, 195 AND 232.5 RANK A TOP 10 PERFORMANCE IN ALL WEIGHTLIFTING HISTORY. 🇧🇬

Awesome Power Mr.Blagoy Blagoev 👏
Do you think Karlos Nasar can do 185/235 like Khrapaty?

Holy shit, is this actually Blagoev?
Поздрави на Митко! Играехме тенис турнири заедно навремето… Не съм се чувал и виждал с него от много време. Да Сте жив и здрав и семейството Ви!

Seems like it. 195.5 in the 90’s. My word.
❤
I can see li dayin pushing 185kg at 89kg weight class, but 195kg is just so insane

When the move under the bar looks fast even in slow motion, that's some serious speed.

greatest lift of all time

incredibly power and superior technique..not to mention genetics...

at the time he did this it was approx the same as the record at 100 and 110kg bodyweights
wow. Thanks for the upload. amazing lift
Notice his comp best was 5.5kgs beyond Alexeev.
@BBBimex Rigert set a wr of 165 first attempt at 82.5kg class jan 1975 ?Christchurch, NZ

JJ Schou I'm pretty sure he's pulling the bar as high as he possibly can. It's hard to look exaggerated with 195 kg.
"Coming up high on toes" - Lol. As if any elite olympic weightlifter does that on purpose.
@@luclapierre7621 lol for real 😂
They need to include this lift in the bible, its immortal !!! :)
@BennyThor,
This guy's son is my friend. It's funny that he didn't follow his dad's footsteps in weightlifting, but became a tennis player... :)
Not funny or strange. There are plenty of easier paths to glory than weightlifting
Beast
Woahhh this guy is really strong, he can lift easily 200 kilos
Феноменальный рывок
великолепно
Speed and precise catch is not unlike Vandanian Junior, very muscular too.
Jesus Christ. He had more in the tank!
53 pounds, 24 kgs over my deadlift at least I was much lighter than this.
САМЫЙ СИЛЬНЫЙ В МИРЕ В РЫВКЕ... БОГ..
Except for when he later snatched 195.5!
It's weird, obviously he is incredibly fast and precise, but it looks like he is roundbacked in the pull off the floor. It might be the best snatch of all time but it doesn't really look textbook at all from that angle.
So what. It’s not about technique. It’s about who lifts the most. Perhaps you were confusing weightlifting with gymnastics?
Notice how he doesn't run around the platform screaming, sticking his tongue out and stretching his mouth open like an orangutan. Nasar take note.

All athletes at that level take something, especially in the weightlifting, but really in all sports. In the end, the best ones still dominate.
