    Unbelievable athleticism. Also strength. Also flexibility. Also confidence. Also commitment. All around fantastic. In 1973 his lift would have won the Senior National clean and jerk contest in the super heavyweight division. (I was there for that competition and as I recall, shot putter Al Feurbach, won with a 420 lb. C&J, twenty pounds less than what Klokov snatched!)

      The crazy thing about weightlifting over the years is the clean and press record is not far off from Lasha’s 267kg clean and jerk. I think only 30kg. Klokov is amazing, Lasha is the strongest weightlifter of all time, but the guy with the world record clean and press has got to be right up there. Also Naim Suleymanoglu. 190kg clean and jerk at 60kg I think it is. Every few years someone comes along in weightlifting and just does the impossible

      +zero98ify He's almost 250lbs here. No where near 231 and is probably constantly on shit now since he's not tested. Still impressive as hell... but come on, he'd compete if he knew he could take the world record

    • @zero98ify
      @zero98ify 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      +Conrad Sienkiewicz didn't he nearly have the world record a few years back? He was like 10 or so pounds off, got that lift, went up a little bit and failed it at the top. Still wondering why he left the sport tbh, he was very good most years and would've only gotten better as time passed. I guess crossfit pays better or something.

    • @Conrad0032
      @Conrad0032 8 ปีที่แล้ว +62

      +zero98ify World record was at 200kg, he hit 196kg. Going from 196kg to 201kg is an enormous jump at that level. He snatched 206kg during competition prep, but replicating that in contest is something else. Also I think he had a lot of political issues in Russian, he said that in some interview. Similar with Koklyaev. He did 200/250 in contest rather easily but they never sent him off to compete either.

    I don't know anything about OLY lifting, but I assume the paused snatch is a lot harder to do than a regular snatch because it kills a lot of the momentum, is that correct?
    If so, how much harder is a paused snatch considered to be compared to a regular snatch?

    • @eyesofphysics97
      @eyesofphysics97 5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I'm not sure how much harder it is, and i'm sure it depends on the lifter, since some may have a more aggressive early pull and some may be more careful on the first pull. The insane thing is that he is beating the world record for a normal snatch. With a pause snatch. What the hell!
